Chapter 6“We heard,” Jules said as soon as Gale, Cal, and Audra entered the club. “I’m sorry for your loss, Audra.”
“Thank you.”
“Are you going to stick around for a while?”
She smiled wryly. “I don’t think I have a choice. I can’t leave until Detective Kingston figures out what happened. Even if I could, I wouldn’t until he stops thinking it was Gale who killed him.”
“He’d better get rid of that idea right now. Maybe I’ll have a word or two with him. Tell him you,” Jules glanced at Gale, “don’t have it in you to kill anyone, no matter how much you dislike them.”
Gale shook his head. “I’m sure it won’t do any good. He’d just say anyone can become a killer under the right circumstances and keeping Audra safe sure fits that parameter.”
“I’m leaning toward your classic mugging,” Cal put
