Chapter 18

Mercury’s P.O.V

  My phone had gone off three times and it was really starting to piss me off. I was rushed off my feet, trying to get things done so that I could spend time with my family and make a start with the new training program.

  “Listen, I’m trying to work here, so whoever this is had better have a good reason for calling me.” I said and was greeted with nothing but silence.

  “Come on, I’m listening, don’t be shy now. You have called three times, so what is it you want?” I asked and then heard a woman cough a little on the other end of the phone.

  “Alpha Don Mercury, may we speak for a few minutes?” The woman asked, making me think. I had never heard this voice before and she called me Alpha Don, so this must be serious for her to use my title, if it wasn’t then it had better be good.

  “Yeah, we can talk. What is it that you need or want? Is there anything wrong that you need to have taken care of?” I asked, curious as to what she was going to say.

  “Mr. Mercury, a man came to me today and wanted me to make a potion for him. He has a certain interest in your daughter and he wants this potion to clear your daughter's mind of you and once that is done then she will….she will kill you. He is doing this because he wants your daughter, but he also wants to be the new Alpha Don. I’ve heard of you from many and know of your threat to anyone that comes after your family, so I will not help him, but he has given me twenty grand, so I will make him a potion, but don’t worry it will only give her a slight buzz. I told him to be back in a week.” The woman said and I knew exactly who she was talking about.

  “Thank you for calling me and letting me know of his intentions and yours. Go ahead and play along with his little plan because when he comes here I’m going to rip his f*****g head off his shoulders. If you ever need any help then please give me a call and I will be more than happy to help whenever you need me to. My family and I thank you, now in a few hours time you will receive a package from me. This is a thank you, use it as you want and I won’t take no for an answer.” I replied and heard her sigh.

  “How are you going to send me a package, you have no idea who I am or where I live?” The woman asked, making me smile.

  “I know that you are a witch seeing as you are making a potion and lets just say I know a witch who can help me with this. Thank you.” I said, hanging up before she could ask any more questions or deny what I was going to give her. I mind-linked my family and asked them to come to my office, needing to talk to them and explain the new developments. A few minutes went by and everyone was finally in my office, all looking at me for answers. I told them everything that the witch had told me and then gave Faith the phone number she called me on, asking her to send her a little thank you package.

  “We need to get ready, Selena, this bastard is determined to get you, so we need to do everything possible to make sure he gets what he deserves.” I said, but then Selena smirked, making me wonder what she was thinking.

  “Dad, I think I have a plan that just might work and that will make him want to return me in hours.” Selena said, intriguing me.

  “Okay, I’m listening, but it had better be good and I’m serious, so what is it?” I asked, curious.

  “Well dad, when he gives me this so-called potion he will think I won’t remember you, am I correct?” She asked and I nodded.

  “Okay, so when he starts to take me away, well...do you remember when I was five years old and I wanted this teddy bear, but you and mom told me no and I fell on the floor having a tantrum?” Selena asked and both Cheyenne and I nodded, remembering it all too well. We were at a waterpark and Selena was tired, but when we went into one of those stores she wanted this huge black teddy bear, but I said no because I knew she wouldn’t want to carry it all over the place, but as soon as the the word no left my mouth she threw herself down on the floor and started screaming blue murder. I picked her up and spanked her, telling her that now she had something to cry about, but she just pouted at me and made me feel guilty. Cheyenne warned me not to give in, but when we had finished at the water park I went back to the shop and brought her the huge black teddy bear she wanted. Yes, I remember that day like it was yesterday, but where was Selena going with this?

  “So, when I drink the potion I will just act like it took me back, like it made me regress all the way back to my childhood. That would drive him crazy and he would soon throw me back to you.” Selena said and I looked at her as if she was crazy. I wasn’t the only one though as Cheyenne, Anna and Goldie looked at her the same way.

  “ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR f*****g MIND?! WE DON’T EVEN KNOW YOUR POWERS YET AND YOU THINK WE ARE GOING TO LET YOU ANYWHERE NEAR THAT MAN?!” Cheyenne and Anna shouted at her and her jaw dropped open as she heard them.

  “Listen, it was just an idea, okay. I don’t know what else to do. You said he’s out to get me at all costs, so what else do we need to think of? I say let me fight him and if I win then I’ll kill him, if he wins then all of you can kill him. I know how to fight and I know how to battle. I’ve been trained by the best.” Selena said, but Cheyenne shook her head, while I was trying my best not to think of that bastard getting his hands on my youngest daughter, just the thought of that made me want to kill.

  “Selena, listen, you’re new at this, but you can’t just go out there and fight something you don’t even know…..” Cheyenne said, but stopped and suddenly I felt a strange aura, but hoped it wasn’t what I thought it was.

  “MOM! I’M DOING THIS AND THAT’S FINAL!!!” Selena said, using her Alpha tone. Cheyenne and I looked at her in shock, but I knew this was going to be a huge argument, as there was no way Cheyenne was going to let anyone use that tone or talk to her like that, let alone one of her daughters.
