Chapter 10

Mercury’s P.O.V   I had a link from Dee and it made me curious as to what she was so desperate to tell me. She had worked for me from time to time and was always professional, but when she linked me it sounded not only serious, but also urgent and that worried me. It made me wonder what could possibly be wrong to get her so worried.   “Cheyenne, can you come to my office please?” I asked, mind-linking her. I waited for her to come in and after three minutes flat she was here.    “Dee is coming and will be here in a few days. She sounded like she was worried about something, but I have no idea what it is.” I said and she nodded.   “Okay, I’ll have her room ready. I wondered where she'd been hiding. I’ve been worried about her seeing as it's been quite some time since we last heard from her.” Cheyenne replied and I nodded. I carried on and told Cheyenne about Dee’s cryptic  and worrying mind-link and about how she sounded when we briefly spoke.   “She sounded like she was rushing towards us, like something had gone wrong wherever she was and she had to get away as fast as she could.” I said and she quickly nodded.   “Alright, well, if she is rushing to get here then we better get her room ready just as fast. I’ll go get that sorted, while you sort through the pack paperwork.” Cheyenne said, pecking my cheek and then hurrying out of my office. I got stuck into the pack work I had and almost an hour later Cheyenne came back into my office and sat down on my lap. I gave her my full attention, as I do everytime I see her, but this time there seemed to be something bothering her and I didn’t like anything that upset the love of my life.   “What's wrong, love?” I asked, wrapping my arms around her waist.   “What do you think is wrong? Dee has never run from anything in her life, so what could be making her run now?” Cheyenne asked and the only thing I could do was shake my head.   “I honestly don’t know, but she sounded scared, like she was running from something or someone and that is also unlike her to be scared. Don’t worry, we will keep her safe as soon as she gets here. She is like a sister to me, just like Goldie.” I replied and she nodded.   “I know, love, I know you feel like that, but we will have to wait and see what's wrong when she gets her, like you said it will be a few days until she is here. Are you going to be going out tonight?” Cheyenne asked as I buried my nose into the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent.   “I do have something to do tonight, a collection. This guy was supposed to have paid me back a few months back, but he never did. I wonder if Axel would like to go? He did great on the last one.” I said and felt her nod as she stroked the back of my head.   “Why not link him and see if he wants to go? Selena is in the living room, watching a film with him.” Cheyenne replied and I started laughing.   “I bet she’s watching Congo again.” I said and Cheyenne started chuckling and nodding her head.   “More than likely.” Cheyenne said, going to get up from my lap, but I held her tighter, keeping her in place.   “Axel, I have a collection tonight, would you like to go? I thought you would like to learn more about what I do.” I said, mind-linking Axel.   “I don’t know what a collection means, but yeah, I’ll go. I do want to learn more, what time are we leaving?” Axel replied, mind-linking me back.   “In a few minutes, so get ready. Do you remember the rules I told you before?” I asked and could hear him sigh over the mind-link.   “Yes, I remember them and I’ll be ready.” Axel replied and I ended the link. I looked at Cheyenne, who was smiling sweetly at me and licked my lips.   “Axel is coming and we leave in a few minutes, but I would love to carry this on when I get back.” I said, but she looked confused.   “Mercury, we aren't doing anything except sitting here.” Cheyenne replied and she was right, until I stroked my hand up her legs and up her skirt, making her gasp as I did so.   “Like I said, we can continue this when I get back.” I said and she nodded before kissing my lips.   Axel’s P.O.V   I looked over at Selena and sighed, knowing that she was going to be worried again.   “Your dad just mind-linked me and wants me to go on a collection with him tonight. I promise I’ll be back soon, okay.” I said, but she gave me a funny look. It wasn’t just a worried look, it was mixed with a little bit of hurt as well. Why was she hurt?   “Yeah okay, but don’t act strange when you get back. I could feel how stressed you were last time and you had me worried, especially when you wouldn’t talk about it.” Selena replied and I nodded, now understanding what was wrong.   “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you worry.” I said, leaning over and kissing her before getting up.   “I promise.” I said and kissed her once more. I left her watching what seemed to be her favourite film, Congo and went to Mercury’s office. When I got there Luna Cheyenne was leaving and she looked a bit flustered, which I just brushed off as her not wanting Mercury to leave. I walked in behind everyone else and saw that they were getting ready for whatever this collection thing was.   “Alright, the crew is here, let's go and do this, so I can get back and take care of things here.” Mercury said and everyone quickly nodded. We all left the house but instead of getting into a car like we did last time, we all got into a huge black SUV and this time there were a few more guys with us. Shark, Kenny, Chief and two other men that I didn’t know, but they didn’t smell like werewolves, they smelled different and I couldn’t work out when they were.    “Axel, this is Justin and Ethan, they are Chief’s brothers in law and as you can guess they are not werewolves like us, they are werecats.” Mercury said, introducing us and explaining what they were. I nodded and shook their hands, then looked forward as the engine started. This time Hawk William and Spike sat up front, while all the rest of us sat in the back. We drove off, but this time we went to another address that was only forty five minutes away from where we were. Although this house was in a different place, it looked to be in the same condition, like it was about to fall to pieces. The windows were boarded up and the door looked like it was going to drop off its hinges any second. The steps were broken, so we had to be careful where we stepped so as to not fall through them.   “Listen Axel, people like this like to try and hide not only themselves, but also what they have. They live in houses like this because they think we won’t bother them if they look poor, but we know better.” Mercury said and I nodded, taking a better look at the house. Mercury was right now that I was looking at it with a different perspective, it did seem as if the person living here was trying too hard to put people off.   “Come one, let's do this. This guy owes me over two hundred grand. It's not much, but I want it back and he keeps putting it off, so we’re going inside to get it back.” Mercury said and with that he straightened up, turned and kicked the door. Sure enough the door fell right off its hinges. The guy that was inside almost jumped out of his skin when he saw Mercury and the rest of us, but soon recovered and ran to find what I assumed was his gun. Mercury ran in the house after him and I was hot on his heels, so was Hawk, William, Cody and Spike, while the others went to the back of the house, just in case he made it out there.    “Henry, why are you running? There’s no use.” Mercury said, but then Henry found his gun and hid somewhere behind the door that led to the dining room.
