A couple of my dresses were ready to be looked at to make sure that it was in good condition before my fashion show. I stood in front of one of my dresses as I eyed at it.
"How do you like it, Ms. Tessa?" One of my workers asked me.
"It's perfect. Thank you. Lets go ahead and preserve them for the show coming up," I tell them.
"Yes, ma'am."
I felt my phone buzz making me look down at it. Turns out my mother was calling me. I walked away from everyone before answering the call.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Tessa."
"Mother. What can I do for you today?" I asked annoyed.
"I just saw on the news that Chester Irvine and Bradley had a bit of a auction off the other night," she said.
"That's what happens when you go to auctions."
"No no. I've heard many things about Chester having a crush on you. Which he shouldn't be. You have a husband," my mother said.
"Mom, I'm not going to cheat on Bradley with Chester. Implying it sounds very hurtful," I tell her.
"Well I'm just reminding you that you have a husband and you both have reputations to hold onto."
"Is this why you called me mother?"
"Not just that. Are you also going to your grandmother's birthday party tonight?"
"Yes mother. I'll be there."
"With Bradley?"
"We will see you soon," I sighed before hanging up.
"Miss Tessa, we need to talk about the plans for your fashion show in Milan," my organizer tells me.
"Of course. Why don't we discuss it over some coffee? I am in need of some after my phone call with my mother," I tell her.
"I can tell," she chuckled.
One little thing to know about my grandmother's birthday parties. It's always luxurious. It get more luxurious every year it seems like. There was nothing wrong with it but it was very much known.
Besides me and my sister, my grandmother has ten grandchildren in total. All of us were raised to practically fight for her attention. It was mainly so we could try to inherit her fortune. I didn't care much about the fortune after getting married to Bradley.
"I don't want to see my mother," I tell Bradley. We were on our way to the party. After Bradley and I were done with our work, we got ready at home before going to the party.
"I know darling but you do not have much of a choice," Bradley explained.
A majority of my grandmother's birthday parties were at her house. The only times we celebrate it somewhere else is when she's another decade old. Right now, it was just her 86th birthday. Bradley parked the car nearby and we both walked inside.
"Hey, Tessa! Hey, Bradley!" My cousin, Scarlet, greeted.
"Hi, Scarlet," I greeted as I gave her a hug. Scarlet hugged Bradley as well before we pulled away.
"Almost everyone is here. The only people who aren't here yet is Uncle Hawthorne and Aunt Opal, plus their kids, and Uncle Simon."
"Really?"
"I know right. Come on."
My grandmother and grandfather (who passed away a long time ago; God rest his soul) had four children. Their four kids involved: my Uncle Simon, my Aunt Opal, my Uncle Dexter, and my mother. My Uncle Simon had three children, my Aunt Opal and her husband had three children, my Uncle Dexter had two children, then my mother had my sister and me. All my cousins had children of their own except me.
"Tessa! Bradley! There you two are!" My mother said as she walked over to us.
"Hello, mother," I greeted.
"Have you two eaten yet?"
"No. It's good to see you, Helen," Bradley said.
The next couple of hours involved with talking until my grandmother started doing her one on one moments. Our grandmother wanted to have moments with us before she passed. It became a tradition.
It was my turn to talk to my grandmother after my sister came back. I walked over to my grandmother who was sitting on her stone bench in her garden.
"Hi, grandma," I smiled as I sat next to her.
"Hello, dear. How are you?"
"I'm doing well. How are you?"
"Oh fine. How's your fashion line coming along?"
"It's going well."
"That's good. Darling, I want to know if you are ready to have a child yet," my grandmother asked me.
"I am now."
"I don't mean to pressure you into having a child but I just want to see you have children before I pass. You were the baby of this family," my grandmother told me.
"Well, Bradley and I have talked about having children and we are ready now," I tell her.
"Oh that's good. I'm so happy to see you start something new in your life," my grandmother tells me.
After our talk, I helped her walk out of the garden. We headed back to the party where everyone was still talking. I smiled as I saw Bradley holding Juliet in his arms while he talked to Sabrina's husband, Scott.
"You should get working on having a baby now," my grandmother winked at me. I chuckled a little at her.
Once Bradley and I came back home from the party, I straddled his waist and cupped his face.
"Bradley."
"Yes, Tessa?"
"I want you to put a baby in me. Like right now," I tell him.
"You don't need to tell me twice," Bradley said as he leaned up to kiss me.
