THE MORNING DRAGGED on, and hours seemed longer than usual. Time slowed down and moved at a snail’s pace. Kate wished to be in her bed between the fresh sheets with her eyes closed. That was sheer bliss. After playing that game a few times, she decided to leave the shop and go home if she didn’t get better by two p.m. She sent a few ‘sweet’ thoughts in Ryan’s direction.
