Surprise Birthday Party for him

I had marked the calendar and it was his birthday today. Since I had already applied for leave in advance, they were aware of my absence today.

It wasn't as painful as it felt yesterday and I could skip going to the doctor. I didn't wish to add another expense for the month since I already had a visit yesterday. Of course I had hidden all the bills and the doctor note, since I knew he wouldn't like it at all, wouldn't like that I had taken a test and wasted money when I could had just done a test at home.

I shook my head. I wasn't going to let it bother me. We both had made mistakes. Maybe if I hadn't worn the sexy dresses, or insisted harder on him using protection, or just kept my distance, I wouldn't have had to go through it.

Just wishing that he would forget the last night, and be happy on his birthday, I started to make preparations for it.

His friend had already told me what flavour of cake he liked, and what should I gift him. I had also asked him to give me a call as soon as he left the work since I would be prepared for it.

'No one actually remembered about his bday today, so we don't have any celebrations here', his friend had told me when I called today.

'I will...I will arrange for everything if you could just..', I didn't want him to feel bad on his bday, if only they could arrange for his party, it would make him a little happy.

I didn't know why I asked for it. Maybe I wished for it to not be a bad day for him, since he loves himself so much or maybe I didn't wish him to be in a bad mood, coz heaven knows what he does when he is in a bad mood.

'To be honest with you, Nicole', Yes, his friends only knew me by this name, 'No one actually wishes to celebrate his bday, since he rarely makes efforts for others, unless it's our boss'

I nodded my head knowing that he couldn't see me.

Maybe I could dress up a bit and surprise him, then they would have to wish him?

Deciding on putting on my favourite white halter top and a black short skirt, I picked up small cupcakes for him and headed towards his work. I had bought this dress for special occasions only, and had never worn it at all. I was glad that I didn't and could surprise him with this new dress

As I arrived, I noticed that he was sitting with his colleagues, talking and laughing. He was barely recognisable with that grin on his face, I had never seen him like this. He looked much younger and more confident.

He was having a good day, and didn't need me or the cupcake. I was about to leave when his friend spotted me and waved at me. As soon as his gaze fell on me, his whole demeanor changed. The warmth in his eyes was replaced by the coldness of the winter night, and the grin had just vanished in plain sight.

He got up quickly and strode towards me, but something in him changed as he looked around and noticed that everyone had started clapping and singing happy birthday. It was in front of me, from the side I looked at, he was as dark as a beast, but to his colleagues, he was a confident man, happy and excited to see his fiancee.

'Why did you have to come in my office wearing such a revealing outfit', He said in a hussed tone with a smile on his face. He places his hand on my waist with a strong force that I almost stumbled on my feet. Still I have to smile as everyone was looking at us.

'This...this isn't revealing', I said in a whisper

I felt a strong pull at the back of my neck and noticed that he had taken off the tag sticking to my new dress.

'Stop embarrassing me and go home as quickly as possible'

I had forgotten about taking off the tag. It had been sitting in my cupboard for so long to be worn out. He had told me once that I don't need to put on short dresses, to seduce me and I looked hot in my messy home clothes. It had made me happy since he found me attractive in any form.

There was no cake for him, only the cupcakes I had brought. With a lot resistance, he had let me stay with him for a while and allowed me to celebrate his bday with his colleagues. I had headed home soon, brushing off the tears in my eyes and pulling down my dress. I didn't wish for anyone to see me in such a state.

The surprise party was still on, but since I didn't know anyone from his life, I was only able to invite his close friend whom I had met at the dinner and gotten the details from. Apparently he hadn't introduced me to any of his others friends since we had been together.

Turning off the lights and putting on the candles on the cake, I waited for him to pull up. It was already close to midnight when I heard the horn from the car, and checked myself in the mirror again. I had changed to a much more decent dress, according to him and smiled at his friend.

'What the hell....I mean....Babe, did you do all this?'

He looked surprised as the balloons on the ground grazed his legs and slowly walked towards me. His gaze falling on his friend am then on the cake kept at the table.

We both started singing happy birthday as I stood next to him. He placed a peck on my cheek and told me to hold the knife with him as we cut the cake.

'You look so beautiful, babe, oh what a surprise', his fingers grazing my cheek as he pulled me in for a kiss but I quickly moved and his lips were on my cheeks again. I didn't wish to make his friend uncomfortable with this exchange since he was the only one there with us.

'I should head home, it's pretty late. I don't know how you keep yourself away from this fine lady so long'

His friend said and waved us goodnight.

I wish he hadn't said that

'So how long he was here with you?' He asked me as soon as his friend had left.
