Escape from the Beast : Part II

896 Words
A big black wolf came into the focus of my sight. He wasn't alone. With him there were almost half a dozen more. All of them looking at us. Panting. The drools from their mouth falling down, as they kept their gaze intact with her and with me. The growling was getting more and more louder. And even when they haven't stepped closer to us, somehow it seemed like they were towering over us now. They were not like the small wolves from the woods. There were werewolves. They knew who they were after and whom they were going to attack. I had never seen his wolf form since I was told that it wasn't a much powerful Wolf. Even then I wouldn't want to risk my life over it. I wouldn't wish to fight with a werewolf. It might be half human, but it still might not understand me or listen to me. I was able to move the lady behind me, taking small steps in front of her. She shouldn't get hurt because of me, because they have come to hunt me. Even when my body was screaming and telling me to run away, I couldn't let her get hurt. 'Dear, you should not go near them, you look already broken', the old lady was saying in a flat tone. It was not worth whispering since the sensitivity of the animals ears was always better than us. I would have saved us if I had my wolf. But one of the reasons, I was never respected was because I didn't have my wolf. I cursed myself internally and looked above at the moon goddess who had made me like this. No one is coming Remembering the words I have said all my life, when I was in such conditions, I started to walk towards the pack. If I would get on my knees and beg, maybe..just maybe they would let the lady go. And even if I was punished and taken back by him and the pack, at least she would be alive 'Please....please forgive me', I didn't look in his eyes, but bowed down my head in front of him as he stood in the front of the pack. My lips were dry and my jaw was barely moving. Even while bowing my head down, I heard a snap at the back of my head. I wasn't aware about the inury as well. 'What are you doing? Get away from them', The old lady said in a shivering voice. She sounded more worried for me then herself. She was much more fragile and old and she won't survive any blow by any of the wolf. She should know. I could hear the sounds of the dirt rubbing under her sandals as she had started to move towards us now. 'I am your target', I said gulping down the saliva in my mouth and slowly getting on my knees now. I bite my lips hard as the sudden pain on my knees from the kneeling made me almost cry out loud. 'I won't run away again. Let her go' The big werewolf in front of me shifted a little. Slowly approaching me, as the other wolves kept growling. For some reasons, he looked a little calm down. Maybe since I had offered him that I would come back. The calm demeanor was still much intimidating in this form when he reached me and rubbed his fur on my broken jaw. Tears sprang into my eyes, when he replaced the fur with his paw and scratched slowly over the cuts on my face. After inspecting me for sometime, he placed his paw down and started moving back, all while keeping his gaze at me. I was relieved. He was not going to attack anymore. The old lady was safe 'Mother' I turned my head towards the person who had yelled out just now. 'Oh no' The werewolf looked back at me and growled and then looked at the old lady. As his front fangs came in view, I quickly got up on my feet. 'Grrrrrrr' This time I looked at him, in his eyes, knowing well what I was doing 'Are you crazy' I heard the same man yell from the distance, but I didn't have much time. It would be too late till he reach us. 'Grrrrrrr' I growled again, as it looked like he was much interested in attacking the old lady then me. 'Stop it', I heard the lady from behind But as the werewolf noticed the man closing the distance, I knew it's time. He didn't wait any second and lunged on the old lady, running as fast as I can, I pushed her to the side, with the minimum force and felt an heavy blow on my chest. 'Aaaaaaaaaaaa' My vision becoming blurry as my body was thrown from the impact and finally landed on my back. There was a lot of commotion and noises and howling, and growling, but everything seems to quieten down for me 'Tonto', I heard the voice of the same man, as he stood in front of me, slowly pulling me in his arms and panting. 'She would be okay', I could only say that before I felt a strong pull to close my eyes. His eyes looked into mine as I finally closed them.
