She could see him watching her with interest and her stomach felt as though she were standing on the edge of a high Cliff. She knew that Archie was way out of her league. But she wanted to take her brother away, with her for a short trip as even she needed a break just like him.
She looked across the ballroom where her brother was laughing with a group of young men one of whom was his greatest friend, the son of the duke who was living in self-exile away from home. He was young Leon the son of a well-known politician who had introduced him to the excitement of the outside sport and adventures. And together they had come up with the idea of going into the countryside and having fun.
She was tired of her brother vanishing away all of a sudden from home and coming back after a fortnight or even after a month but this time it was the longest as he vanished for almost three months. He wouldn't have come back if she had not insisted. And Harry was like an elder brother to him, so he couldn't refuse him.
She was thinking that if she took him away for a holiday to the other side of the world it might just change his perspective of things around him.
Archie spoke bluntly” You don't have anything to fear from me, Amelia.”
Color heated her skin. “I know that Archie,” she said on a note that probably sounded a bit ambiguous.
As though she hadn't spoken, Archie went on, “And as for your stay that won't be a problem either as I live in a huge old mansion with enough bedrooms. And I have maids and helpers to take care of the property so you need not worry about anything.”
The hairs on the back of Amelia’s neck lifted with excitement as she listened to his proposal.
Although Archie's tone was pleasant, it was all so impersonal and his offer to host her brother as well-meant that he had he did not expect her to fall into his bed. And wondered, I thinking too much.....
Nerves tingling she said. “It’s not possible.”
But Archie must have noticed that moment of weakness because he said. “Why not” and when she hesitated he went on, “why don't you ask your brother know what he feels about it?”
“Oh man, you are getting desperate now,” Casper growled but Archie was too busy coaxing Amelia and didn’t pay attention to him.
Amelia was very sure that he would refuse for sure. “OK, I will do that now.”
She looked across the room, intercepted by her brother who stood across to them, lean and athletic and who had spent most of the past three months roaming around in the wilderness and the countryside.
Lucas Alexandra was arrogant in his own way not because he belonged to a royal family but because he thought he was too handsome and charming for his own good, but he never fell for anyone as he thought that girls were a nuisance and he was too young to indulge himself in their beautiful trap.
He was just twenty but everything about him was restrained from the short style of his wonderfully gold-colored hair, the tailored dark suit that he always wore over a white shirt and matched with a discreetly subdued silk tie. The women of his age would ogle him and follow him wherever he would go but Lucas was emotionally unreserved because of the incident that happened to his parents. The only one he was close to was his sister.
“So, what do we do next?” Leon was asking him.
“I can’t go away at this time Leon you will have to manage as she is back and she might try to hurt Amy, she is innocent for god sake. We can sense the danger but Amy is a human, not a wolf-like me how can I leave her alone.” Lucas said desperately.
“I understand Lucas. But what about our plan, you are our leader we just can’t leave everything in between.” Leon tried o reason out.
“All right don’t worry, I will think of something. Just give me a few days.” Suddenly his wolf Eric started signaling that someone with bad intention was moving around and he was growing restless. Lucas could sense danger and looked around just in time to see Lady Louis standing right behind Amelia and glaring at her.
His wolf was ready to jump and grab her throat but Lucas said. “Eric, stop being impulsive we need to lay low it's Harry’s wedding. We won’t act rashly. And not to forget it’s her nephew’s wedding so she has to control herself or she will be exiled forever.”
Then he looked at Leon and signaled him to be alert and Leon nodded his head and vanished amongst the guest.
Lucas closed his eyes and tried to send a message to his Beta through his mind-link.
“Be alert, I can sense some foreign smell and lady Louis is standing behind Amy.”
Suddenly Lucas felt someone kissing him lightly on his lips and he opened his eyes with shock and saw a beautiful enchantress standing very close and looking at him with amusement.
It was none other than Beatrice Joan the daughter of the current mayor, who was his father's beta.
‘Dude, I somehow feel that she is my mate.” Eric whispered happily. “The kiss was magical.”
“Really?”
Lucas wanted to laugh but Beatrice Joan was someone he couldn’t ignore at all whenever they met sparks would flow around and he did have a strong feeling that she was his mate but he ignored her because he had a mission he had to complete before claiming his mate and the time was not right. When its came to self-control Lucas would get an A he was just like his father always in control of his emotions.
But Beatrice could never control her emotions and would end up kissing him every time she saw him and Lucas would always run away.
He wanted to say something to her but when he looked up he saw that his sister who was standing behind Beatrice was signaling him to come over and she was standing with someone he had wanted to meet the whole evening.
“Well, it was nice meeting you, Beatrice.” He said and walked away towards Amelia without a backward glance.
Beatrice’s mouth was wide open in shock when she was ignored by him and she stomped her feet angrily and walked towards her mother.
“You are a bastard Lucas!” Eric said unhappily as he wanted to grab her mouth and kiss her but Lucas ignored him.
