10 We had been away for almost two days, and it would take us just as long to go back. With the power from the fire flower, our stamina proved to be better than before, and Kane and I were able to run through the forest for a long time, with Felix and Vira leading the way. If we could keep this up, we would be able to cut the traveling time in half. But we were not vampires or werewolves and had to slow down at times, and even stop for short breaks. It was almost sunrise when we decided to stop for breakfast. I put down my bag, sat down on the jutting roots of an old tree, and listened to the waking birds and the gentle breeze, and took in a lungful of pine-filled air.
