Episode 1: "The Discovery"

604 Words
Victor Almeida sat at his desk, surrounded by plants and models of unfinished projects. The afternoon light filtered through the window, casting soft shadows over the leaves in his office. He observed, lost in thought, the cities he had designed, but his mind was far away, wandering through memories of better days. Life had distanced him from Clara, his ex-wife, and sweet Ana, his daughter. Laughter and happy moments seemed like distant echoes of a past that was becoming increasingly hazy. He had devoted his hours to architecture, but over time, it had become an empty refuge. After a long and tiring afternoon, Victor decided he needed some time for himself. Instead of returning home, he headed to an antique shop that had always piqued his curiosity. The aroma of the old and the unknown attracted him, offering an opportunity to escape the monotony of his routine. Upon entering the shop, the tinkling of a bell announced his arrival. The space was small and crammed with fascinating objects: worn furniture, dusty paintings, and relics that seemed to have stories of their own. Victor ran his fingers over the items, absorbing the sensation of untold stories and hidden secrets. Then, his eyes fell upon a pocket watch, delicately adorned, resting in a glass display case. The metal gleamed softly, and the intricate details of its surface seemed to dance in the light. Victor felt an inexplicable attraction to the watch, as if it were calling his name. "Ah, this is one of my most special items," said a gentle voice behind him. The shopkeeper, an elderly man with a penetrating gaze, approached. "This watch has an intriguing story. It is said to take the bearer to specific moments in the past." Victor raised an eyebrow, skeptical yet intrigued. "How is that possible?" "Time is a fascinating construct," the shopkeeper replied, with an enigmatic smile. "Some say memories are like threads we can pull and intertwine. This watch allows you to revisit those memories. But remember, the past can be treacherous." The shopkeeper's words echoed in Victor's mind. He knew that living in the past wasn't healthy, but the idea of having a second chance to correct his mistakes fascinated him. After a brief hesitation, he decided to buy the watch, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension. On his way home, Victor observed the watch in his hand. The cold metal reflected the streetlight, and he found himself thinking of all the memories he wished to relive: Clara's smile, the gentle touch of Ana's hand, moments that now seemed irretrievable. In a sudden impulse, he decided to try the watch that very night. He placed it on the table, observing its intricate details as memories began to flood his mind. With a racing heart, he pressed the watch's button. An intense glow enveloped him, and the room around him began to dissolve. In an instant, he was transported to a sunny day, surrounded by laughter and the sweet scent of flowers. He was at the hospital, about to meet his daughter Ana for the first time. The moment was vivid, filled with emotions: joy, fear, and love. When the light finally faded, Victor returned to himself, his living room now calm and silent. He looked at the watch, his heart racing, and realized something had changed. Clara, his ex-wife, was back in his life, if only for a brief moment, and he could barely contain the hope blossoming in his chest. But as the emotion faded, a shadow of doubt loomed over him. What else would change by using the watch? And at what cost?
