Dean
I held Kate in my arms as she promised me to work harder to make me happy, and that's when I realized how much she still needs to learn. I hugged her and smelled her hair, inhaling a sweet scent she always emitted. It hurt me hearing her say all those things and to be honest, I got afraid of how fragile she still is, despite getting out of rehab. I released her from my arms to meet the unique pair of eyes gazing at me with adoration. I chuckled and gave a peck on the tip of her nose. "How could I be angry with her?"
- Dean... - she called my name, the name she gave me, with a cute low voice.
- Hm? - Kate pulled further to look into my eyes properly.
- I met Regret, I mean Bob...
- I supposed. He likes to appear around us from time to time, but he never knocks on the door. Then, whenever we meet him, he always regrets it. - Kate had a pensive grimace on her face, she furrowed her eyebrows and her nose twitched adorably. Suddenly she glanced down and even her ears got flustered.
- Sorry! - she said and pushed herself away from me turning with her back to me. I glanced down as well and just laughed.
- Kate... - I called her name but she covered her face with her hands and kept showing me her back.
- Sorry! I didn't mean to peek! I was just afraid that you got angry or that I hurt you some way, because you are important, I mean very special to me and I just thought I need to do something but I didn't think things over, I mean, I'm sorry! - her speech was fast and she even stuttered in embarrassment. Kate was about to run out of my room, but she stumbled in the carpet.
- Watch out! - I shouted but she fall right on top me, knocking me off of my feet. I held her to prevent Kate getting injured. She hid her face in her hands as she laid on my chest.
- Are you okay? - I asked, but Kate froze in place.
- Kate? Are you hurt anywhere? - I repeated the question sitting up and pulling her hands away from her face. Kate's eyes were closed and her entire face turned red as a tomato.
- I won't let you go until I get an answer. Look at me. - she opened slowly only her right eye. I chuckled at her cuteness and how shy she suddenly turned out to be. "Oh boy, I'm dying to get to know you better" I thought.
- I... I'm fine. - Kate muttered and I sighed out loud with relief.
- I'm glad you are okay! - I got up and pulled her on her feet as well.
- Seriously, you are a handful sometimes! Wait a bit. - I said shaking my head but I couldn't wipe the grin off of my face. I quickly turned to my wardrobe an put on simple, black PJ trousers, and a white t-shirt.
- You can open your eyes! - I said and Kate shook her head.
- Come on! I don't bite! Or, perhaps are you disappointed that I'm dressed? I can undress if that's what you are after!- I said teasing her and it worked. Kate snapped at me.
- I didn't mean to sneak a peak! - she quickly covered her mouth realizing that she almost shouted the last sentence.
- I go to my room now. - she said and hurried out of the room. I put my hands into my pockets and followed her lazily. I stopped at Kate's bedroom door and leaned against the doorframe. She was sitting on her bed hugging a pillow, but as soon as she spot me her eyes widened.
- You have to be kidding me! - Kate laughed.
- Why would I? - I asked and she jumped up pointing at me from head to toe.
- Do you enjoy my embarrassment? - I shrugged with a chuckle.
- I'm guilty of that! But you look adorable all flustered, it's even cuter, because you have no idea how beautiful you are. - she laughed.
- I knew it! That's why you stood in the door like that! To keep teasing me! - she suddenly threw the pillow in her hand against my head. I dodged it.
- What are you talking about?
- Come on! In every freaking romance book, the male lead leans against the doorframe at least once, with his muscular arms crossed in front of his chest, or grabbing the damn doorframe! Well, if you did that to turn me on, please be aware that it worked! - I felt my cheek burning with heat as she spoke, and when Kate said she got turned on, I couldn't stop myself. I walked into her room, shut the door closed and grabbed her face in my hands. I kissed her with all my passion and desire. Feeling how Kate almost melted under my touch only made me more determined. We took a few clumsy steps towards her bed and Kate's hands wondered under my t-shirt making me groan with anticipation. I reached under her pullover from behind to caress her lower back and pull her closer to me. Suddenly, a lightning struck across the sky lighting up Kate's room. She squeaked and jumped a bit. I stopped as I felt her trembling under my fingertips.
- I'm sorry... - she apologized again. I shook my head and picked her up. I put Kate on top of her bed, sat behind her hugging her and pulled the bed cover over our heads. She giggled.
- I'm so miserable...
- Why do you think so? - she sighed and hugged my arms that were wrapped around her. Kate leaned against my chest and cuddled closer before she spoke.
- We were having a pretty serious and heated moment just now, but I ended up ruining it due to a childish fear.
- Well, first of all, your fears are not childish, everyone is afraid of something. Second, we can still have moments like that, so don't feel burdened. I should've held myself back a bit, so if someone needs to apologize, that's me. - Another lightning struck near the house and the sky rumbled with rage. Kate trembled and I started rocking her softly.
- Nothing bad could happen to you as long as I'm here. Try to relax a bit. - I said in a low calming voice but she kept trembling, while she tried to look confident and brave.
- Baby, don't worry, about a thing
Cause every little thing, is gonna be alright. - I sang it softly and Kate glanced at me over her shoulder with curiosity.
- What? I was a little death once! My mom used to sing this to me when I was afraid of the storms. - Kate giggled.
- I bet you looked really cute as a child!
- If you ask nicely, my dad would surely show you a bunch of pictures of me as a child. Even embarrassing ones! - Kate jumped out of my arms and off of the bed.
- Where are you going? - I asked with the blanket still on my head. She giggled wickedly.
- You can guess! - with that and a mischievous glance she sprinted downstairs with me in her heels, forgetting about the thunderstorm outside.
