This wasn’t happening. This couldn’t be happening. He promised.
It felt like my heart was shredding itself. It was worse than on the plane. Axel had spent so much time reassuring me that Peach was nothing to him and told me he rejected her. I had finally come around to believing him; my fears more or less abated.
