MEL Liam nodded at me and then left me alone on the stairs. I squeezed the key in my hand. My heart pounded in my chest, my lungs squeezing as emotion swirled in me. He had locked up my bag so no one could mess with it, then gave me the key to that room. He thought I might want to escape the party and gave me a way to do it. So far, the whole experience had been jarring but not overwhelming. Delilah parked in front of this pretty house with a wrap-around porch and explained it just passed from Alpha to Alpha. She grabbed my hand when we stepped into the house, taking my bag and tossing it to the stairs while we headed through the kitchen and out the back. There were fewer people than I had expected, but Liam was on me as soon as Delilah left me alone. Having him so close was torture.
