Kade's Conquest (COMPLETED)

8. He liked me?!

Thea's POV

Tonight I have to go to Violet's house to have dinner and I am not ready to face Kade after are conversation with him while he was still in the hospital. I don't know why, I feel like he is going to try and talk to me about what all happened ten years ago. 

"Thea, can you please come here and check these results?", my fellow surgeon calls me and my train of thoughts is broken. 

"Sure, I will be there in a minute", I say and wear my coat and go out of my office to check on the patients. 

"Dr. Williams, OR-2 is ready and the patient is prepped", the nurse, Olivia, tells me and I nod my head and start walking towards the scrub room. 

"Dr. Williams, I am the resident on your service today. Where do you want me?", Andrew says as he starts walking by my side. 

"I have a  bowel obstruction right now. You can scrub in with me", I tell him and he nods before giving the charts to the nurse and following me to the scrub room. 

"Mr. Liam, how are we feeling today?", I ask him after I enter the OR. 

"Nervous but I trust you doctor", he says and I smile even though he can't see it through the mask. 

"You will be fine", I say and gesture at the anesthesiologist to put him to sleep. 

Andrew stands opposite of me and I look at him and hand him the scalpel. 

"I hope you know how and where to make an incision Dr. Andrew?", I say and he visibly gulps. 

"Yes, I know".

"Very well. Go ahead and make one", I tell him and he nods his head before taking the scalpel from me. He makes a perfect incision and I smile at him before continuing with the surgery. 

"The incision was perfect, Dr. Andrew and so were the sutures", I tell him after we eave the OR to meet the patient's family and give them the good news. 

"Thank you, Dr. Williams", he says and his ears turn scarlet and I laugh silently. 

Liam's family members are sitting in the waiting are and stand up once they see us coming towards them. 

"The surgery was successful and Liam should make a full recovery within a few days", I tell his wife, whose eyes are already filled with happy tears. She smiles widely and hugs me which I gladly return. 

"Thank you so much doctor", his brother thanks me too and I smile at them. 

"You are welcome", with that I leave to go the reception to collect Liam's chart and update it while Andrew shows them towards the patient's room. 

"Well, I heard you had a bowel obstruction", Luke says as he comes and stands beside me. 

"Yeah. It was a nasty one but he pulled through", I tell him and he smiles before nodding. 

"How does early lunch sound? I have a hip replacement in the afternoon so I won't be able to join", he asks and I mentally let out a sigh. 

"Sure, I am starving anyway", with that we make our way towards the cafeteria and fill our plates with food before settling down. 

"What have you planned for tonight?", Luke asks me. 

"I have to go to dinner at my best friend's house today", I tell him and he nods. 

"Lucky you. I am on call tonight", he says and I shake my head. 

"You need sleep, Luke. You look terrible".

"I know but because of that car crash yesterday, I couldn't go home and today is just hectic. I have surgeries lined up since morning and being on call tonight is going to be hell", he rakes a hand through his hair and I can see the exhaustion clearly in his eyes. 

"Why don't you catch a wink of sleep right before your surgery in one of the on call rooms?"

"That actually sounds good but you know me, if I fall asleep now I won't wake up anytime soon".

"How about this, go and get sleep and I will wake you up about half an hour before your surgery, okay?"

"You really are an angel Thea", he says as he finishes eating his food. 

"I have about an hour and a half before the surgery so can you please wake me up around 1:30?"

"Sure thing Luke. You can sleep in room 347, its usually empty at this time", I tell him and he nods before getting and jogging towards the elevator.

After I am done with all the surgeries and the consults for the day, I go to my office to change in the dress that I have brought with me. I knew I would get late here and being the wise woman that I am, I packed the essentials I needed for getting ready. 

Honestly speaking, I am still upset with Kade and I am nervous as hell to face him today. I look in the mirror and approve of my attire. 

I leave my office and make my way towrds the car but before I could open it, my phone starts ringing.

"Hey Vi, you need me to bring something?"

"Hey and no. I am just calling you to make sure you were coming".

"I am in my way. See you in a few", with that I hang up and sit in my beautiful Impala which my dad gifted me when I graduated from the med school. He knows about my obsession when it comes to Supernatural and I don't even want to know how he managed to buy this car. 

 I reach the house that was like my second home before I moved from here. I couldn't help but smile at all the memories that I and Violet have created here. This house and all the memories are like a breath of fresh air admist the stress that I have been going through for past few weeks at work.

I ring the bell and the door is opened by none other than Violet, who looks ravishing in her baby blue dress. 

"Finally, I missed you so much", she says and pulls me in for a hug and I laugh while hugging her back. 

"You saw me like a few days back, Vi".

"That doesn't make up for all the years that I have missed", she says and I feel the tears pricking at the corner of my eyes. 

"I missed you too. I am sorry, I haven't been in contact", I tell her with utmost sincerity and she smiles while wiping away the tears from her own eyes. 

"Me too", with that we make our way inside are greeted by laughter that rings throughout the house. I look around and nothing has changed except for some photos that have been added to the picture wall and so antiques that are placed on the table. 

"Darling, you look beautiful", Caroline says as she hugs me to her. I smile and return the warm hug.

"Thank you and you look really beautiful too", I compliment her and she smiles in gratitude.

Kade, finally emerges and I would be lying if I didn't say, ho looked absolutely handsome in the black t-shirt and his leather jacket. If it wasn't for his friend, Eli, who started talking with me, I would have been still staring at him and making things awkward and also boasting his already big ego. 

We all sit at the table, me in between Violet and Caroline. Kade takes the seat right in-front of me and I swear I had a tough time concentrating on the food rather than the Greek god who is sitting right in front of me. I know I am still angry at him but that does not mean that I can't appreciate his looks. 

As we all were talking, I feel a pair of eyes on me and I lift my head from my food and look up, directly into Kade's mesmerising eyes. I swear, these eyes are one of the most beautiful ones I have seen.   

"How are you feeling Kade?", I ask him just to conceal that I was starigng for longer thsn required. He doesn't reply and keeps staring at me. I shiver a little under his stare and Cameron, his other friend, nudges me. He whips his head towards him who says something to him that makes him turn towards me.

"Pardon?"

"I asked, if you are felling well?"

"Yeah. it pains a little but nothing I can't handle", he says, while trying to act strong but I know it must be hurting him since the stitches are still fresh. 

"Are trying to gain her sympathy?", Eli comments and everyone laughs, successfully breaking the tension.

After that little staring thing, the dinner went on smoothly. We talked about my parents and Richard even took my dad's number from me. We all revisited the memories that were created in this house but everyone was stuck on one where Vi beat the s**t out of Kade as he had made me cry for the first time. Everyone had a good laugh at Kade's expense and I swear, I saw amusement in his eyes as well beofre it was covered with irritation. 

"So kids, we are going to go and sleep while you'll do whatever it is that the kids do these days", Richard said while hugging Caroline close to him. 

"We are not kids anymore dad", Violet says and he laughs.

"Except for Thea here, everyone of you is a kid", he says and winks at me, making me laugh harder as Violet pouts like a five year old, proving his point.

"Yeah whatever, old man. Good night", Kade says and they both leave but not before convincing me to stay the night which I reluctantly agreed to.

"Thea and I are going to go and change while you boys wait in the theatre room for us and I swear if you pick out a stupid movie, I am going to murder you three in your sleep", she says with an edge to her voice making all the three men to howl with laughter. 

"Whatever sweet pea. Go and change into some booty shorts", Eli says with a wink which earns him a slap on the head by Kade and a punch in the shoulder by Cameron. 

"Dude, that's my sister so you better stay away", Kade says and Eli raises his hands, defensively. I see Cameron glaring at Eli and that makes me wonder about him and Violet. I am going to ask her about this when we get some time alone. 

"I wouldn't want to flaunt myself for a pig like you, Eli", Vi replies sassily and Kade snorts and nods his head in approval. 

"What is going on between you and Cameron?", I ask her as we enter her room which is same as I can remember except for the additions of her achievements. 

"Nothing at all", she replies way too quickly and I narrow my eyes at her with a smirk forming on my face. 

"You know, even though its been ten years, I can still read like back of my hand", I tell her and narrow my eyes at her. 

"Fine, I like him. I like Cameron but I can't tell him that because he is my brother's best friend", she says with a sigh and I put my arm around her, engulfing her in a side hug. 

"You should talk to Kade. I am sure he will understand".

'I don't know Thea", she says while biting her nails, the habit of hers when she is nervous. 

"How are you even a lawyer when you can't convince your own brother?"

"You are right. I will talk to Kade and then tell Cameron about my feelings", she says and I fully hug her for a few seconds and then let her go.

"Lets go, the boys must be waiting".

"About time", Eli snickers as we both enter the theatre, where these three are lounging around with popcorn and wine.

"I swear Eli, if the movie turns out to be shitty, I will smack you really hard", Cameron threatens him.

"I back that", she says and Eli shoot daggers at them both. 

"Shut your traps and watch the damn movie".    

Kade has been silent throughout the conversation and I wonder what is going on that head of his. I have no idea why I care but I do. Maybe its because I still consider him my friend or something. I discretely glance at him and find him lost in his own world. I turn around before anyone could notice me watching him like a creep. I try to ignore the handsome yet asshole of a person who is sitting not two feet away from me. 

"That was one of the lamest and the stupidest movie I have ever seen", Cameron barks at Eli who just shrugs. 

"I agree to that. I already knew what was going to happen within the first fifteen minutes", Violet says and sighs, irritation clear as a day on her face. 

"Thea?", Eli asks me with a hopeful glint in his eyes. I gulp a little and let out a nervous laugh.

 "It was okay, I guess", I say and Cameron snorts again while Eli sighs.

"See, she is the only one who appreciates".

"She is being too nice. It was a shitty movie and that's the end of it", Cameron says as everyone gets up.

"Lets go to the patio and talk", Vi suggests.

"I have an early morning, you guys continue. I am gonna sleep", I tell them but she catches my wrist. 

"An hour, that's it", she says and I look at others and they nod their heads. 

"FIne".

"Cameron and Eli, help me to bring the wine out while Kade can show Thea to the patio", Violet says and I mentally prepare myself for the awkwardness. 

"Fine, let's go Thea", Kade says and we make our way outside. 

"Thea, I need to talk to you about what all happened all those years ago", Kade says and I can feel the anger bubbling inside of me.

"No, I don't want to ruin the night for others".

"They won't come back", Kade says and I realise this was Violet's and his plan. 

"Then, I will go and sleep", I say and as I am about to turn around, he catches my wrist with his good hand. 

"Please, give me chance to explain myself", he says and I can see the desperation in his eyes as well as his voice. 

"Fine, you have an hour", I say with a huff and sit down on one of the chairs. He takes the seat opposite of me and turns to look at me. 

"I am sorry for everything that I have put you through. I know a mere sorry will not be enough but I promise I will make it up to you", he says and I scoff. 

"You are right. It won't change anything", I voice it with so much hatred that I can see him visibly flinch from it. 

"I liked you", he announces as if I am supposed to fall for that. 

"You did what?"

"I liked you but I was afraid you wouldn't reciprocate as I was your best friend's brother who was a player at that", he says as if it was the most simple explanation for everything. If only he knew, that I liked him too at that time. 

"You are a damn good actor, Ryder", I say not believing him for even a second.  

"If you liked me, you wouldn't have acted the way you did by scaring the s**t our of my prom date and making Kyle break up with me in front of the whole damn school", I yell in a low voice so I don't wake anyone up. 

"Kyle was just using you to get in your pants and I know this because I heard him i the locker room and as of your prom date, that was selfish on my part. I didn't want you to go with anyone when I waited on the side-lines watching you", he says and bows his head down while raking a hand through his perfectly messed up hair. Snap out of it Thea and focus on the current issue in hand, my sane part of the brain yells at me. 

"That's f*****g twisted Kade", I yell again but keeping my voice low.

"And as for the way Kyle broke up with you, I had given him my piece of mind. The black eye and bruises were a parting gift from me", he says as if that would make me forgive him.

"What about the other stupid pranks?"

"Those were just to get a reaction from you", he says and laughs while I scowl at him. 

"i know, I have been a moron to you but I promise I will make it up to you. Will you please consider forgiving me?"

"Kade, its not going to be that easy. You have to earn my forgiveness and my trust", I tell him in a soft voice and he nods is head vigorously.

"I will. I promise you that", he says and stands up from his seat and walks to where I was pacing. 

"I will make everything right, I promise", with that, I wish him a goodnight and make my way towards Vi's room, leaving him standing there.

I get in the bed and all I can think of is that, he liked me and if only he had told me, the picture today would have been different than what it is right now.
