Rick and I quickly follow Carl downstairs to find a few of the pack members holding a snarling, feral wolf. This is not the same wolf that attacked me, but she has the same wild look in her eyes. I stop in my tracks, my fingers tingling with magic, waiting for her to give me a reason to use it.
“This is the rogue wolf who attacked the witch. We caught her coming back over the border after we heard screaming," Sam says and then growls angrily.
Rick breathes a sigh of relief next to me and I'm confused at first, then realize he is probably glad it's not one of his own pack that's at fault.
