Summer was over, and with it went my two night fling with the most gorgeous guy i had ever seen. After our date night Jay vanished, i didn't hear from him, not a call, a message or a goodbye but lets be honest, I always knew that whatever we had would eventually end.
"Lena," it was my mom knocking on my door "can i come in?" she asked
"yes mom" i called back, she made her way into my room and sat next to me.
"I know that you have been through a lot growing up," she said "I know i am not your mother and that I can never take her place, " "but i want you to know that no matter what you can always count on me, always talk to me." she continued placing her arm around my shoulder.
" so please tell me" she whispered "what is bothering you?"
without hesitation i told her about meeting Jay and how i though he was the perfect boy for me and then how he suddenly disappeared without not even a goodbye; at this point i couldn't hold back the tears that have been threatening to fall ever since the day i found out that Jason Smith had left the hotel never to be heard of or seen again.
"oh baby" she said comforting me "boys will come and go in your life, but i can assure you that one day you will find your Prince, a man that will make you feel like the moon, the stars and the entire galaxy are at your feet" she continued on talking about how wonderful this man would be and all that would be expected of him as if she was sure it would happen.
i dried up my tears and hugged my mom, thanking her for the new ray of hope she had just set in my heart.
before leaving the room she turned to me and urged me to go down stairs for breakfast.
"i made you French toast with fresh strawberry syrup" she called out closing the door as she left.
it was all it took for me to jump out of bed and run out of the room and into the kitchen, mom's french toast and strawberry syrup were my favorite and no boy would hold me back from enjoying them.
after breakfast, Anya and I went shopping for clothes to start our senior year, my sister was very picky with how she look at the beginning of every school year.
we went into Saks, Michael Kors, Anne Taylor all of my sisters brand, by the time our shopping was over my arms felt like they belonged to another person.
as we were heading back to our car i had the feeling that we were being followed, i looked around to confirm my suspicion but i couldn't see anyone, besides New York was always filled with people coming and going, still the feeling lingered in my mind.
I still had the feeling that we were being followed but we reached our car and to avoid panicking my sister i decided not to say anything and just drive home.
i kept looking in the rare view mirror for any sign of strange cars behind us but still i could not tell.
we arrived home but much to our surprise we had visitors and by the look of their Lamborghini Urus, they were very important visitors which was very strange because my parents seldom receive visitors at home, they always booked expensive restaurant or meeting rooms at hotels to avoid bringing work home among their kids, so what could have changed.
We walked into the house and sitting in the living room were two strange men wearing black suit and in the seat next was an older man who smiled at me as soon as our eyes met.
"Lena," said my mother, "meet king Ezra Hauteville, your grandfather.
the older man came over and hugged me, but I could not bring myself to hug him back, i was not sure of what was really going on around me, how could this man be my grand father yet alone a king.
"wait what" was all i could say
my mother got up and took me by the hand to the couch.
"Lena" she began "We aren't normal people, we are not what we seem to be, you are not what you think you are." "you are a princess, a Luna to our people, you are a werewolf princess," she continued
"mom what are you talking about" I interrupted
"let me finish and you will understand everything," she said
my mom went on telling me the story of our world, the world of all super natural creature; she told me about how in order to prevail the balance between nature a council of all super natural creatures was created, on the council there was one member of each clan, a werewolf, a vampire and a witch.
"your mother was my best friend, she was like my sister," she continued when you were born, you were sick and in order to save you, your mother made a visit to an outcast witch seeking her help in taking away whatever illness that threaten your life, the witch was successful, she cured you but her methods where unorthodox and it caused riot between the werewolf clan, you see the witch used the blood of a very powerful Vampire to heal you and by doing so, she didn't only heal you she also gave you the power to rule over the vampire clan as well.
"in order to protect you," it was my grand father's turn to speak "we had to ask the same witch to ban your powers and keep your wolf dormant until we thought the time was right, what we didn't expect was your uncle, my Son king Eric to start a mutiny against his own sister all because he felt it was a betrayal to our species.
"you see, Vampires and werewolves have always been mortal enemies, but in order to maintain peace we formed the council," my grandfather said "but sadly the council no longer rules over the Super natural, after killing your parents your uncle started war against the council and against the humans, we aren't sure how he manage to do so, but the council is broken some have been killed and super natural creatures are now doing as they please.
'i don't understand," i said "you are all saying i have these powers and that i am werewolf then what about you mom, and dad and Anya, why don't you have powers?"
"we do have powers that is why we travel constantly," explained my father "we have to keep going to the pack to keep our werewolf in check specially on the full moon, if we aren't in a proper place, away from humans we might end up on a killing spree, maybe even kill you three.
"your sister and brother wont come into their werewolf powers and wont be able to shift until they turn eighteen, even you,"
"then why now," i asked exasperated "why drop all this on me, why tell me about my heritage and why have you all been lying to me," i turned and stormed out of the room
tears running down my cheeks i ran up the stairs and into my bedroom, i slid under the covers and bawl my self to sleep.
I woke up the following morning to red puffy eyes, not a look worthy of the princess they said I got out of bed slowly making my way to the bathroom to take a shower and prepare for the day ahead.
I made my way into the kitchen were my parents and siblings were having breakfast and hugged my mom.
"Good Morning " i said cheerfully and sat in the seat next to my sister.
I could see my mom was fighting back tears but she simple wiped them and smiled, and the gloomy aura that was hanging around the dinning room lifted.
"the king will be here anytime soon," said my father "we need to be prepared to receive him, Lena i know its hard for you, all this that is going on but please listen to him,it is imperative that you do," with that my dad got up from the table and disappeared into the living room.
