Part 3

Taeyoon straightened the shirt he had just put on. His chemo session this week was over, although he was still feeling the effects of the chemo. Taeyoon decided to end his treatment soon. He heard Airin was discharged from the hospital today, so he wanted to see her first because it had been a few days since he disappeared with no news or saying goodbye to Airin. It's funny. Taeyoon felt responsible for explaining everything to Airin. Even though the relationship between the two of them was not that close. Taeyoon made sure his face didn't look too pale so that Airin wouldn't ask questions. Taeyoon smiled slightly, realizing his silliness that would only arise if he was with his ex-girlfriend, Sena. "Why, I'm so concerned about that girl's response," Taeyoon monologue, pulling his jacket, cell phone, and car keys together. Taeyoon left the hospital room that Taeyoon had rented so that anyone other than himself would not occupy it. Taeyoon was afraid that the room that Taeyoon should use would be complete in times of emergency. Because Taeyoon fears death, he still wants to pursue his dreams, which have not been realized yet. Airin, who had just packed up the hospital bed she had occupied for the past few days, reflexively looked at the door and found Taeyoon entering with two drinks from the hospital cafeteria. "Taeyoon," Airin softly greeted the man who had accidentally planted his seed in Airin. Taeyoon smiled slightly and waved his hand. "You, are you completely well?" Taeyoon asked later after being in Airin's direct presence. Airin's eyes couldn't escape looking at Taeyoon, her head nodding slowly in agreement. Taeyoon himself was still smiling, and then he checked Airin's hand with his other hand. "It's really almost gone. Thank goodness," Taeyoon muttered as if talking to himself. "Come on, let me take you home," Taeyoon invited and looked warmly at Airin's face. Airin didn't react. Instead, she looked at Taeyoon's face, which was clearly still pale and also seemed in pain. "Wae?" asked Taeyoon, confused by Airin's behavior. "You? Where have you been? Why did you disappear and not visit me?" asked Airin, releasing the contents inside her head. "Ah?" Taeyoon had difficulty answering Airin's question and didn't think the girl in front of him would ask him something like this. For Taeyoon, the two of them were far away. "I know I don't have the right to ask you this. But, at least give me a little news. Because, after all, you're the father of this baby inside my stomach. Although we don't have any relationship. I'm worried about you, Taeyoon," Airin said again, releasing the heart that she had held in for days. Airin's words dumbfounded Taeyoon. A few days ago, Airin said she wanted to abort her pregnancy, so why is she now saying Taeyoon is the father of her baby? *** Sitting on the edge of her new bed, Airin looked around her room. Airin took a deep breath and rubbed her stomach lightly. "I hope this is the right choice for us, huh?" said Airin, as if talking to her baby. Airin turned her gaze toward the door when someone, who was Taeyoon, knocked on her bedroom door now. "Come in, Taeyoon!" said Airin briefly. Soon, Taeyoon entered with a glass of milk. Taeyoon smiled and approached Airin. "Drink it, it will help you sleep well," Taeyoon said, handing the glass of milk to Airin. "Thank you," Airin briefly accepted the milk and immediately drank it. Airin gently wiped her lips, which were wet from the remaining milk. She then put the glass on the table, and Airin looked at Taeyoon again. "Did you eat dinner?" asked Airin, remembering that Taeyoon didn't have dinner with him earlier. Taeyoon said he was still full and didn't want to eat yet. "I did," Taeyoon replied briefly, nodding his head. Airin didn't respond and just looked at Taeyoon quizzically. Taeyoon's brow furrowed in confusion. He then moved his hand in front of Airin. "Wae?" Taeyoon asked then. "You're not lying to me, are you?" Airin asked again. Taeyoon chuckled and then shook his head slowly. "Of course not. Never mind, don't worry about me. Now get some rest. It's late at night. Didn't you say you have to work again tomorrow?" said Taeyoon, diverting his conversation with Airin. "Alright," Airin briefly agreed. Taeyoon then said goodbye and left Airin's room, taking the empty glass from Airin's milk with him. Once outside the room, Taeyoon took a deep breath and closed his mouth. Taeyoon felt nauseous again and made his dash to the bathroom so Airin wouldn't hear him vomiting. *** The next day, Airin and Taeyoon went to their respective offices. Airin, who was feeling better, didn't want to be driven by Taeyoon. At the office, Taeyoon was listening to a presentation from the finance director about this year's turnover. Taeyoon glanced at his cell phone, which was vibrating on the table. He read the name listed, and it was from Airin. Taeyoon cleared his throat and grabbed his cell phone quickly. "Sorry, I'm picking up a call first, can you?" Taeyoon interrupted them. Some Directors and managers at the meeting looked at Taeyoon and had slightly suspicious looks on their faces. It was unusual for Taeyoon to interrupt a meeting like this, let alone just because of a call. Taeyoon smiled and ignored the questioning gazes of the Directors and managers. Taeyoon then excused himself to leave the meeting room and picked up Airin's call as he walked. "What's up, Airin? Is there something you need? Or is there a problem with your pregnancy?" Taeyoon asked rapidly, unknowingly making Airin chuckle on the other side. "Me, I'm fine. It's just..." Airin didn't continue while Taeyoon furrowed his brow, waiting for her to continue. "Airin," Taeyoon called to ensure their calls were still connected. "Ah, yes, I'm still here, Taeyoon," said Airin, who understood where Taeyoon was going with his call. "So? It's just what, why don't you continue?" asked Taeyoon again curiously. "What do you want for dinner? I'm home and will cook now. Em, is there anything you want to eat?" asked Airin hesitantly. Taeyoon was dumbfounded, and the handsome man did not immediately answer Airin's question. He was a bit surprised, happy, and disbelieving at the moment. The mixed feelings made Taeyoon's face blush with embarrassment at the moment. Airin was chopping carrots like matches right now. Airin was going to make japchae according to Taeyoon's request. Airin's lips hadn't stopped smiling since just now, and she usually would pump stressfully. This time, Airin cooked happily and cheerfully. After finishing the vegetables, Airin started mixing all the ingredients to make the japchae. Airin also made egg rolls and some stir-fried meat. Airin did all this to say thank you to Taeyoon. Taeyoon willingly accommodated her now. Airin stopped stirring the japcha and looked at the door. She heard the bell of Taeyoon's apartment ring. His forehead furrowed in confusion, and he returned to starting his japcha until it was finished. The bell sounded again and made Airin even more confused. "Isn't this his apartment? Why don't you just go straight in?" muttered Airin, who thought it was Taeyoon. Airin then walked to the door and opened it quietly. "Why don't you come in right away?" Airin's words just hung there, and he widened his eyes in disbelief. Because it wasn't Taeyoon who was in front of him now, but Seo Jin, Taeyoon's older brother. Seo Jin himself was equally surprised that it wasn't Taeyoon who opened the door for him. Both of them looked at each other, and both had dumbfounded faces now. ***
