"Where's your rent money?" said Uncle Airin in a high tone. Airin looked up at her uncle now, her eyes not ceasing to well up with tears. "Sorry, Uncle, I can't pay you the rent this month. I have to pay for other important things," Airin replied, stammering because she was in pain and scared. "What, you say? Can't pay the rent? Don't joke!" snapped Airin's Uncle, who again hit Airin blindly, without the slightest mercy for Airin. The girl could only cry and scream repeatedly, asking her uncle to stop his current actions. Airin half crawled back into her room, no longer crying. However, by this time, her face was bruised, and many wounds were bleeding fresh blood from her body. The poor orphaned girl no longer had the strength to stand up. With difficulty, Airin was finally able to enter her room again. Airin then laid down on the floor of her room just like that. For him, this room was the only safe place. His uncle had gone somewhere, while his aunt had not returned from the sauna. Airin took a deep breath, then held his stomach lightly. "What, is she okay? My body is already crumbling," Airin monologued. Worrying about her pregnancy right now, Airin reached into her pants pocket. Airin searched for his cell phone with some difficulty. Airin then pressed a number that was almost impossible for her to call. The two were far from saving each other's numbers. "Hello," Airin whispered like she had no energy. "It's me, Airin," Airin said, even weaker. "Eo, I know. I saved your number, Airin," replied Taeyoon, who was now cutting his sandwich and then popping a piece into his mouth. The sound of Airin chuckling could be heard, although it was obvious that the girl didn't seem to have the energy to laugh. Taeyoon furrowed his brow, feeling that something was wrong with Airin. "What happened to you, Airin? Everything's fine, right?" asked Taeyoon, who smelled something terrible was happening to Airin. "I'm fine, Taeyoon. Can I ask for your help just this once?" asked Airin again in a weaker voice. "Eo, just say it!" replied Taeyoon quickly. "Come to my house, Taeyoon. I'm, I'm in pain," repeated Airin in a breathless tone that couldn't hold back the pain in her body anymore. Taeyoon reflexively stood up, and his face tightened as he heard Airin's voice, which was really like a person in pain now. "Where's your house? Send your location now! I'll be right there," said Taeyoon, who was panicking. "Eo," Airin replied briefly. Their phone then disconnected. Taeyoon hurriedly ran away from his apartment just like that. Taeyoon didn't linger anymore and headed straight to Airin's house. *** "Luckily her pregnancy is fine," said Doctor Sujin after examining Airin. When Taeyoon arrived at Airin's house, the girl opened the door for Taeyoon on all fours. Airin's battered and wounded condition made Taeyoon open his eyes in surprise. Not thinking twice, Taeyoon took Airin to the hospital without asking where Airin got the injuries. Hearing Sujin's words did not immediately make Taeyoon sigh in relief. Taeyoon held Sujin's hand quickly. "What condition is this girl in? Are her injuries so severe that she hasn't regained consciousness yet?" Taeyoon asked later. Sujin looked at Taeyoon for a moment, and it was evident that Taeyoon was worried about Airin right now. A moment later, Sujin smiled slightly and patted Taeyoon's shoulder lightly. "This is the effect of the tranquilizer injection earlier. That's why Airin is still asleep until now. Airin's condition is not fine, and it seems like this is not the first time Airin has received injuries like this. Look at these bruises," said Sujin, pointing to the bruises on Airin's hands. "These have faded to black. That's a sign that it's been a while. This is already faintly brown; this may have passed one month, and this one is recent because it is still purplish blue," explained Sujin, pointing to the bruises on Airin's hands. Taeyoon looked even more incredulous at what he saw. Taeyoon rubbed his face roughly and then looked at Airin. "Then, who did this to her? Is it her parents? But why?" asked Taeyoon, wondering to himself now. Sujin sighed deeply, then shook her head softly. "It's your job to find out, Yoon. Don't let this affect Airin's pregnancy later, you must not forget that this is your only hope of having a child," Sujin reminded Taeyoon. Taeyoon looked at Sujin when he heard his best friend's words. Taeyoon glanced at Sujin and then smiled slightly. "We have agreed to abort this baby, Sujin. Since it's all a mistake, I can't possibly tie Airin up with this baby in her stomach," Taeyoon said quietly and now looked back at Airin, who was still closing her eyes. *** "Airin's awake yet?" asked Taeoh, who was checking on Taeyoon. "Already," Taeyoon answered briefly. Taeoh took off his stethoscope and looked at Taeyoon closely. "Then, why don't you accompany the girl?" Taeoh asked again. Taeyoon knew that his best friend had finished examining him. He got up from his sleeping position and shook his head slowly. "Don't I have control today? Starting with you, then later with Chanbin. My next appointment is in two days," Taeyoon explained to Taeoh. Taeoh chuckled and nodded his head in agreement. Taeyoon himself laughed and got off the examination bed. "So, how's my condition? Is the allergy I have safe and not giving a bad response to the new medicine I'm taking?" asked Taeyoon, wanting to know the condition of his body now. "Em, you're fine now. I, for one, am very optimistic that you will recover and be healthy again, Yoon. So, two years of waiting for Sena here will not be in vain. After he returns from Russia you can get married," said Taeoh, who looked happy from the look on his face. Taeyoon choked up at Taeoh's words. A moment later, Taeyoon smiled and took a deep breath. "You, start talking nonsense, Tae," Taeyoon said later. In another room, Airin was leaning back and holding her stomach. Airin rubbed her stomach lightly, her face flat, but it looked like she was thinking about something. Soon, the sound of knocking made Airin stop daydreaming. Not long after the door opened, Sujin entered and waved his hand at Airin. Looking at Airin's clothes, I saw that it wasn't a doctor's coat anymore. Airin could tell that Sujin had finished picketing today. "You, must be lonely, Airin," Sujin said as he walked towards Airin's hospital bed. Airin forced herself to smile. Her head then shook slowly, not confirming Sujin's words. Yet that was precisely what was happening to her at the moment. "I'm used to being alone, Doctor Sujin," Airin said later. Sujin smiled, then sat on the chair next to Airin's bed. "Now there's me, so you don't have to be lonely. Um,,, Taeyoon has a routine check-up today, so he can't accompany you. It'll probably be around 3 p.m. when he's done," Sujin gave the news while looking at her watch. "Check up? Is she sick?" asked Airin in surprise. ***
