Detective Denis Moreno stared at what was left of the bulletproof window. Shards of glass covered the counter where Nadiya had been seated just moments before things went pear-shaped and the floor beneath, like snowflakes. The rest of the kitchen didn’t look any better. Several mugs, glasses, and plates had been reduced to rubble. There were fluids of all manner spilled and splattered against almost every surface.
