Chapter 9 Charles was in the small hall, staring out of his window when he heard footsteps behind him. Thirty-five years was too much of a long time to not recognise those footsteps. The man came to stand beside him, his hands behind his back. Together, they stood looking out of the window to the scene below. No one said a word. Only nods of acknowledgement. The silence did not last for the man beside him decided to break the spell. “She insists she is no lady, yet, everything about the manner in which she carries herself, screams that she is one.” Charles sighed.
