Eliza struggled as Cheshire pulled her towards the dance floor.
“Let go of me! You got the wrong person!”
Then she yelped when Cheshire tugged her hand hard and she collided into Cheshire’s chest. Eliza felt a pair of arms slide around her waist, locking her to his chest.
“Unhand me, right now!” Eliza whisper yell then she sucked in a breath when Cheshire lean down towards her right ear.
“Now, now little Cinderella. I promised to find you, who knew you brought yourself to me.” Cheshire said and Eliza could hear the smirk in his voice.
Eliza glared at him as she struggled to get out of his arms.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, you got the wrong person. Now unhand me!” Eliza snarled as she struggled and slapped Cheshire’s arm multiple times.
“Oh? But your personality really gave you away from the instant I hear you dissing that Alpha.” Cheshire whispered into her ear lowly.
Eliza could feel the goosebumps rising on her neck. She leaned back to glared at Cheshire as she reached up to cover her ears.
“Stop that!”
Cheshire smirked. “What? This?” Then he proceeds to blow into her ear.
Eliza raised her foot and stomp on Cheshire's foot. Hard.
Cheshire hissed and his arms around her loosen a tad bit but that’s all Eliza needed. She pushed him hard, making Cheshire stumbled back a few steps.
Eliza immediately turned around and ran away, out of the ballroom and down the hall.
While running, besides the loud clacking of her heels, she could hear another pair of heels but rather than running, it was walking leisurely.
“You can run but you can’t hide Cinderella.”
“Stop following me you bastard!”
Cheshire’s chuckled echoed around the hall, making Eliza run faster.
When Eliza turned a few corners, She kicks off her heels and kept running without picking up the heels.
She turned a few more corners before she halts. She was at the end of the hall with 5 rooms surrounding her.
Without thinking, she ran into the first room that is unlocked and hide inside it. Locking it just to be safe.
Eliza panted and sat down on the bed. She looked around the room and found out that it is a bedroom, a used bedroom.
Curiosity won over her sane mind, she stood u and inspect the room.
It was clean and really bare. The room rarely has anything in it except for a wardrobe, a desk, a night table, and a bed. She walked to the bed to sit down again when she kicked something. Tilting her head in confusion, she bends down and picked up the thing she kicked, which was a jacket of some sort. She was about to place it on the bed when she notices there was something sewn onto the right chest of the jacket.
Eliza turned it around to get a clearer look and what she saw made her almost drop the jacket.
Right there, above the right pocket was Cheshire’s name sewn on it.
General Cheshire.
Then Eliza is in-
Then she heard footsteps nearing.
Eliza stopped breathing for a second before she kept her breathing as steady and quiet as possible.
“Cinderella.” She heard Cheshire sing-song. “Come out, come out from wherever you are.”
Oh, how she wants to punch him.
“You can’t hide for long, I can smell you.”
Then she heard his footsteps getting closer to the room she’s hiding in. Eliza could practically hear her heartbeat as it was beating so loudly.
The doorknob shook and she thanked herself mentally for locking the door.
She heard Cheshire hummed before she heard the dangling of keys.
“What such luck you’ve locked yourself in my room. What such luck indeed.”
Eliza panicked and looked around for an escape route. Then she saw a window, a window big enough to fit her.
She tiptoed towards the window and opened it as softly as she could. She looked out and saw it wasn’t that high up, she could survive the jump. Maybe with aching feet but she’ll survive that.
Eliza was one foot out when she heard the door unlock. She quickly sticks her other foot out and was about to jump, just as the doorknob twist and the door opened slightly when someone interrupted.
“Cheshire.”
Both Eliza and Cheshire stopped. The door was closed again and Eliza sighed in relief.
“Your Majesty, what brings you here?”
Eliza’s eyes widen.
Majesty?! The King is outside the door?!
“I am your father, child. Show some respect, bastard son, or not.” Eliza heard the King growled lowly.
“Yes, father. Why have you come all the way to my room?”
Eliza flinched as she heard a loud slap.
“To educate you of course! You ungrateful child, I gave you the approval to attend your sister’s birthday and this is how you repay me? By fighting with a guest and chase a random girl like an Alpha in a rut?! How many faces have you left for this family, huh? If all you do is cause trouble, its better you stay in your room until the party is over. Clear?!”
There was silence following that before she heard a growl.
“I said, clear?!” The King growled loudly.
“Yes, father. Crystal.”
“Same as your mother, useless and ungrateful. If it wasn’t for her, I’ll-“
Eliza didn’t hear finished what the King as she jumped out of the window.
She heard enough.
-Time Skip-
“What do you mean Prince Cheshire chased you around the castle?!” Ronald yelled after Eliza told him why she bailed the party. They are now currently in her room.
Eliza groaned and buried her face into the pillow. “Muft my muft, muft muft muft-”
“Stop, stop, stop. What did you say? I can’t hear you.”
Eliza lifted her head up and glared at Ronald. “I said, by Prince Cheshire chased me around the castle, I meant Prince Cheshire chased me around the castle! Literally! I even lost a pair of my favorite heels because of that.”
Ronald sighed as Eliza buried her head into her pillow with a long groan.
He sat down on her bed. “Did he see your face?”
Eliza lifted up her head and turned around until she was laying on her back. “Of course not! If he knows my face, I’ll never hide from him!”
“Good, that’s good. So,” Ronald lay on his side with his hand supporting his head. “Is he like how the rumors say?”
Eliza glared at him before she sighed. “I don’t know. I only interact with him for a few seconds before I was running away from him.”
“Ooh, so you’re a Cinderella now?”
Eliza grabbed the nearest pillow and threw it at Ronald. “Don’t call me that. That’s what he called me, it’s giving me the creeps.”
Ronald laughed and threw the pillow back at her.
“He believes in fairy tales? Maybe he’s not as heartless as they say he is. He even gave you a nickname, maybe you could give him a chance!”
Eliza sat up and looked at him incredulously. “You crazy?! Why would I want to give that psycho a chance?”
Ronald sat up and looked at her with a smile. “Who knows? Maybe he’s not like how he acts towards you and the real him is buried deep down. A façade to fend off people perhaps?”
Then Eliza thought back the conversation Cheshire had with the King and how the King treated him so harshly.
She was shaken off her thoughts when Ronald cursed beside her.
“I have a date with Tim in a few minutes.” Ronald stood up and rushed out of the room with a “Talk to you tonight” thrown at her.
“Yeah…see you.”
Eliza laid back down and tried to get some shut-eye but what Ronald said kept swimming in her mind.
Maybe, he’s not so bad?
Maybe it’s a façade like Ronald said. A shield.
Eliza groaned before she rushed out of her house and head towards the wood in her wolf form.
-Time Skip-
Eliza crossed the stream and jogged towards the open field where she first met Cheshire and low and behold, there was Cheshire, having a nap.
Cheshire’s ear flickered towards her direction as he opened his eye and met her gaze before he closed his eye and turned his head to the other side.
‘Leave.’
Eliza huffed and sat down loudly, making sure he heard her, tail thumping the ground.
Eliza grinned mentally when she heard a sigh from Cheshire.
‘I heard what happened yesterday. That was harsh of him.’
Cheshire growled lowly as he stood up and glared at her direction. ‘What is it with you? When I want you to stay, you run. When I want you to leave, you stay.’
Eliza huffed. ‘Is he always like this?’ she said, ignoring his question.
Cheshire huffed. ‘None of your business.’
Eliza hummed. ‘Well, my parents died when I was young. I’m living with my friends and my little brother.’
Cheshire turned to her. ‘Why are you sharing this.’
‘I heard something that was personal to you so I’m paying it back. But I ain’t sharing anything else so don’t get any ideas.’ Eliza said as she lay her head on her front paws, shutting her eyes and enjoying the sun on her coat.
She heard Cheshire huffed in amusement before he laid in front of her.
‘You’re a weird one you know?’
‘Thank you.’
There was a silence following that before Cheshire spoke up.
‘Since you already know who I am, can I know who you are?’
‘No’ Eliza said without opening her eyes.
‘At least a name?’
‘No.’
‘Come on-‘
‘Zzzzz’
She heard Cheshire sighed and smiled.
They stay like that until the sun starts to set, just enjoying each other presence.
Eliza opened her eyes and saw the sun was starting to set. She stood up, waking Cheshire in the process.
‘Where are you going?’ he asked.
‘Home.’
‘Will you…come again?’ Cheshire asked, hesitantly.
Eliza tilted her head. ‘Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. We’ll see.’
That’s what Eliza said before she ran back home.
-Time Skip-
When Eliza reached her house, she did not expect to see all the people gathered in her living room.
“What going here?” She asked and all the head turned to her.
Keith walked over and whispered yelled. “Where were you? You didn’t answer your phone.”
Eliza frowned. “I was in the woods in my wolf form. I left it back in my room.” Then she looked around the room and met eyes with Ronald who was pale.
She turned back to Keith who looked just as pale. “Why? Is…something the matter?”
“Yes, unfortunately.” The Head Alpha, Michael said as he placed a letter on the living room table.
“The King has a request for your hand in marriage to his son.”
Eliza frowned. “Marry his son-what?”
“The King has sent me a letter to ask me to allow you, Eliza Black, to marry his bastard son, Prince Cheshire.”
