I followed the doctor to the room where Aline was being monitored. I softly knocked on the door and, on the other side, I heard her melodic voice. “Come in…”
I slowly made my way in. It was an awkward situation. I really had nothing to do here, but my curiosity got the best of me, and now I am in this unusual situation. “The doctor told me you wanted to see me…” I said, and she slowly nodded.
“Yeah… I wanted to see you…” She said, pointing at a chair for me to sit down. “Thank you…” She reached out for my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. Something in me stirred.
