Honesty

Brandon had woke up just long enough to hear what she had said.  He grinned and looked at her. "I smell like fresh-baked cinnamon rolls?"  he asked surprised. Kylie was taken aback, she didn't realize he was listening.  "Um, yeah," she said and looked at Griffin. "Goddess, do you want to talk to him?"  Griffin asked causing Brandon to get a little upset.  Who was he to stop him from talking to his mate? Griffin looked at him and motioned for him to be quiet, which annoyed him more.  Kylie looked at Jason and then back at Brandon, and finally, her eyes rested on Griffin. "I don't know what to do."  she finally whispered to him. Brandon was glaring at Griffin until he heard him whisper to Kylie, "Goddess, you really should talk to him." Kylie studied Brandon's face for a minute, then she said quietly, "I need to see my girls first." Griffin jumped up and headed for the crib and returned with the two alert little girls.  After carefully placing them in Kylie's arms, she began to nurse them.  They wasted no time eating eagerly, smiling at their mama. Brandon just watched in amazement. Kylie finally looked at Brandon again.  "You kissed me at the drive-in.  Didn't you?" Brandon nodded, "Yes, I did." "I thought you were someone else,"  she stated thinking back. "Is that why you pushed me away and ran?"  Brandon asked concerned.  "One of them?" "No, someone else." "Another mate?"  Brandon asked his eyebrows furrowed. "I won't accept him,"  Kylie said looking at Brandon, "He didn't wait for me." Brandon let out a breath, "You know that you are my mate?"  he asked trying to figure out where to start. Kylie nodded, "I realize it." "You didn't wait for me," he said feeling a stab in his heart. Kylie's jaw dropped hearing his words.   "Please, hear me out.  I didn't mean it that way."  he sighed and tried again.  "I know you love him," he said staring at Jason.  "You married him and gave him those pups,"  he said motioning to the girls.  "You have known him since you were a little girl.  You thought he was your mate, long before you knew for sure." Kylie nodded, this was all correct. "I knew a girl, I knew her for a very long time.  My entire life actually.  I believed she was my mate, I loved her like no other.  We decided to follow the urges we had one night, an hour later she was dead, killed by rogues."  he sighed and Kylie felt a stab of pain in her chest.  "I know now what the connection and true love for a mate feels like, but back then, I thought I had found it,"  he said staring at Kylie.  "What I feel for you is so much more, like I will die without you,"  he said as he stared deep into her eyes.  "I lost my best friend that day and I pray that I didn't lose you,"  he said staring at her.  "It was awkward and just wrong,"  he said staring off. "If she hadn't been killed?"  Kylie asked,  Brandon looked deep into her eyes confused.  "What?" "If she hadn't been killed, you two would be mates right now."  Kylie almost yelled out in anger. "No, no we wouldn't,"  he said shaking his head. "Why not?"  Kylie asked she felt a deep pain inside her chest. "We knew we had crossed a line, knew it was wrong,"  Brandon said sadly,  "We would have still been friends but we wouldn't have ever dated again.  We had already discussed it." "Why would you tell me all this?"  Kylie asked studying him as Griffin carefully took the pups from her and headed back to their crib. "I want to be completely honest.  I'm not leaving you, you are my mate.  I plan to fully court you, put my pups inside you, and spend the rest of my life with you.  Please give me a chance." Kylie just stared at him.  "I have two mates."  she motioned to a sleeping Jason and Griffin who stayed quietly on the side, allowing them to talk. "You have three mates."  he corrected her and motioned to himself, bowing. Kylie had been staying very serious and broke, laughing.  "You are a fool,"  she said shaking her head. "I always thought I would be on top but I might let you be," Brandon said acting like he was thinking something over. Kylie picked up a pillow and fired it at his head, annoyed. "ok, ok, you win, you can be on top." Griffin smirked seeing Kylie getting flustered.  She picked up a child toy and fired that at Brandon, connecting with his cheek, making him wince.  "Don't talk like that,"  she said annoyed. "Are you thinking about giving me a chance?"  he asked hopefully. "Not if you are going to act like that,"  she said annoyed. "You are the Moon Goddess, the one before you, she paired us,"  he said matter of factly. "Yup she paired me with two that waited for me and two that didn't."  Kylie fired back and the hurt was clear on Brandon's face as it dropped, staring at the ground.  Kylie saw how crushed he looked and felt a little bad for her words.  "If, if Jason hadn't been my mate."  Kylie started with a sigh.  "I would have been ashamed at how I behaved."  Kylie finally admitted "Kylie, will you come to my pack with me?"  Brandon asked, his voice was very low. "I can't"  she answered almost immediately. "You don't have to stay long, just meet my parents,"  he asked almost begging her. "Why?" "You are the true Luna of the pack.  You should see it,"  he said staring at her. "You only want a Luna to keep your line alive,"  she said thinking things over. "I want my true mate,"  Brandon responded.
