SHE WAS VERY DETERMINED

One of my investigators got a lead on her. He got the first name and I was shocked to hear. He called me before I left for the meeting with Finance Department. I didn’t know how to react on this information. I didn’t want to believe him but still I was not convinced totally that she is not her. There were some missing dots here that I need to join. Both were known to my father. Both shared the same name but as far as I knew my father, he would change the name the second day she left me.

During the meeting with Finance Department, I didn’t hold up my curiosity and asked her about her relation with my father. She scared first but regained her composure very soon. Maggi’s father too was friend of my father. It might be possible that she would be that girl but I was not sure. I hadn’t seen her face as that was covered with veil that day. I even didn’t bother to look at her once that time and I was still regretting myself for my action that night.

I realized that my question made her position awkward in the meeting and then changed the topic. What Marcus told me about last two companies who were not responding our reminders infuriated me.

I tried to reach their CEO’s as well but they were all as pathetic as their companies. I finally order legal department to take care of them. I also threatened them to destroy their good image in the business world but there was no effect on them. So I order my PR team to take care of this matter.

But the problem of finance that required for our next project was still at the same place. I didn’t know why I assigned Maggi to arrange the amount but I believed that she would do this.

I was working in my cabin when my secretary called me on intercom. She informed me the PR Head wanted to me. I told her to send him in the cabin. I heard a knock and gave permission to the person to come in.

“Good Afternoon Sir”, PR department head Mr. Andrew Stefan greeted me and I signaled him to sit down on the chair in front of me after greeting him back.

“So, tell me what brings you here to me?” I asked him calmly.

He cleared his throat and looked at me.  “Well actually sir I wanted to talk to you regarding Ms. Maggi Collins in Finance Department”, he said to me and I looked at him amusingly and gave him a look to go ahead.

“Actually Sir, I brought the matter of her transfer in your knowledge a few days ago.  Her transferred was requested by our former CEO and it’s not possible to transfer her back until you say so”, he paused and I looked at him lazily. I had checked her records that HR provided me. She is graduated with Finance as major. HR recruited her in PR initially because there was no vacancy in Finance department. When an employ left the department, they immediately transferred her. But only glitch was there that my father instructed him to get her transfer first before conducting any interview for any post there.

“Mr. Stevens, I had checked her records. Though her transfer was requested by our former CEO but according to her major, she is well suited for finance department and according to the head of finance department, her skills are far better here than any other department. Then why are you insisting her transfer in PR again?” I said to him almost yelling the last line and he flinched a little.

“This is because of her skills, Sir. She is multi-talented. Even she is pursuing law in Finance. Her conversation skills and interpersonal skills have no match. I suggest you to call a meeting with one of any company while going through law suit and bring her to them. You will get the desire result”, he was so sure that I got quite for some moments.

I was staring him constantly but didn’t find any hint of uneasiness on his face. He was so sure that I decided to test his theory.

“I heard that you assigned her to arrange the finances. I am damn sure that she has already completed her task”, he was so confident without any hint of over confidence that I got impressed with his confidence on her.

“Ok”, I said to him and looked at him. “Let’s test your last theory about her arranging the finances first”, I spoke to him and dialed the number of finance department.

“Halo… this is Stan from Finance Department. How may I help you?” someone picked the phone and i said to him in a calm tone, “Give the phone to Maggi please”. He instantly replied, “yes sir”. He called Maggi and told him that it was me on the line.

My heart was beating faster now. Why did I feel so much attraction towards her, I didn’t know? “Yes Sir”, she asked me and I cleared my throat.

“Maggi, I just wanted to ask you about the task I assigned you”, I said to her in a monotone voice to hide my anxiety.

“Sir, it has already been arranged. We got the funds in our account by tomorrow morning”, she informed me and I got surprised. I looked at the person who was sitting in front of me. There was a smirk on his face and I annoyed me. I was also working with her for last 2 years but it seemed that I didn’t know anything about her skills.

“That’s good Maggi. I want you to accompany me in a meeting that I am thinking to do with Fisher Enterprises before going through law suit. I want to give them one more fair chance”, I said to him and expected that she would deny but instead of she agreed immediately. “I agree with you Sir. We should give them a last chance before filing a case against them. The legal formalities took time and we didn’t have so much of time to get our hard earned money. We must try one last time”, I was really impressed with her professionalism.

“Ok then…. So, I am assigning you one more task Maggi. I want you to talk to them and arrange this meeting with them”, I said to her and she agreed. I was really shocked. It was not concerned with her department but her dedication towards that company was really appreciable.

I hung up the phone and looked at Andrew.  He had a satisfying smile on his face and I smiled a little.

“I think I need more people like you and Maggi in my organization”, I said to him and he just lower his gaze for a moment.

“We need more people like Maggi, Sir. She is really brilliant and I want to suggest you one more thing I you don’t mind”, he asked me politely and I gave him signal to go ahead.

“In the meeting, let her lead and you will see the real Maggi Collins”, I was really surprised to hear him.

“Ok… I will do this and let’s hope that we get the positive result”, I said to him and he stood up from his seat.

“I already know the result, Sir. I will take your leave now. I hope that we can talk about her transfer to my department after this meeting”, he said to me politely and I shook my head on his persistence.

“Sure Andrew”, he nodded and left the room. I saw him closing the door and closed the eyes. This was the first time that Maggi talked with me so calmly and I could feel a hint of happiness in her voice. I was really surprised how she managed to get the finance in less than 48 hours.

My mind again started playing with me. What if she is the girl I am searching from last 7 years?
