Things That Happened

As the boys competed in the tournament that the Alpha King organized, they managed to get past all the difficult levels. But after they fought some ghouls, they entered a door that brought them into a cave. The cave is pretty huge and it has crystals for stalactites and stalagmites.

When they saw the arch where the exit could be, they were blocked by a dragon; a massive scaly, horned dragon that has a long muscular tail. Its scales are like obsidian stones that make it look like they were pieces of the night sky.

The boys tried to fight their way towards the exit, but the dragon is pretty strong and powerful despite its poor condition. And when the boys tried to fight it with the intent of killing it, Zander’s Lycan and his demon protested. So Zander ended up stopping his cousins from doing so.

They then found out that the dragon was a prisoner there as Zander was able to talk to her. The dragon is a female and she is pregnant. Upon mentioning about her pregnancy, something in Zander stirs. He felt excited like he cannot wait for the dragon to give birth and for the egg to hatch.

‘You feel it too.’ He heard Achilles say,

‘Why am I feeling excited?’ Zander asked.

‘I don’t know too. But I am looking forward to seeing her whelp.” Achilles said.

‘Maybe because we haven’t seen a dragon egg hatch before?’ Aluzam told them.

‘You’re excited too?’ Both Zander and Achilles asked.

‘Yes, of course.’

Zander set aside what he feels and he helped the dragon escape that prison. He opened a portal that will lead the dragon to her home. Surprisingly the dragon’s home was inside Mt. Vesuvius.

And after the dragon was gone, Zander suddenly felt empty. He felt sad that the dragon is gone, and he immediately felt the longing, but then he turned his focus on their mission. They managed to get out of the cave and were soon proclaimed winners. And then when the Alpha King met them the next day, he asked about the dragon and the boys has to tell all sorts of lies just to get the Alpha off that case. They even mentioned Google to sway the alpha from asking about the dragon but he’s stubborn about it. So they had to feed his ego and open a different topic for him to stop asking about his dragon.

For their first mission with the Alpha’s elite army, they joined the attack on the vampire kingdom. They attacked during day time and they are great in numbers, but they still failed. Not only that the vampire kingdom has strong and high walls, but Lady Amica also put up a shield that Rowena can’t even break and the girls also helped in throwing out those Lycans who dare to climb the walls, including their brothers.

Days passed and a lot has happened, and not everything that happened is good. The vampire kingdom was attacked by an old foe and the future version of Rowena and there are many casualties. But of course, Zari and the girls ended them without breaking a sweat.

Soon, the Alpha King and the Queen met in the underground garden. The first meeting didn’t end well since the Queen ran from him. But with the help of Zari and the others, the two have accepted each other.

But if the Queen and the Alpha are on good terms, it’s not good for Massimo and Alessa for they have been discovered. The Alpha was livid and he has thrown Massimo into the dungeons, after beating him up. All those happened while Zander and the others are out spying and finding out who is the traitor in the vampire kingdom. On a positive note, Alessa was pregnant and the boys helped for Alpha Lucien to accept them.

The boys also took the initiative to find out more about Massimo to ease everyone’s view about the color of his fur. They went to the library in search of the former Beta’s report. They have no idea where to look; good thing an old woman helped them. Seeing that old woman, Zander finds her familiar but he cannot tell how or where he has seen her.

‘Do you feel like she’s familiar too?’ Zander asked Achilles.

‘Nope.’ His Lycan answered.

‘I do.’ Aluzam answered.

‘How? Where do you think we’ve seen her?’ Zander asked him.

‘I don’t know. I was sealed, remember?’

At the end of their search, they found out that Massimo is the son of the Lycan's uncrowned Queen and the first hybrid as his father is a demon. After the eventful day, and everyone retired to their rooms while Zander went out to have more extra hours of training. And soon he was joined by Massimo.

The two of them spar like it was the real thing. Zander threw a punch in Massimo’s direction but he caught it. Zander anticipated that move so he moved and turned his body around before he kicked Massimo while he has his back at him.

He managed to hit Massimo and he staggered a bit, letting go of his hand. Massimo was pleased by it and he encouraged Zander to go at him again. Zander nodded and he dashed towards Massimo and when he was close enough he leaped at him and grabbed his shoulder and then he wrapped his legs around Massimo’s waist before he used all his strength to lift and threw him off as he made a backflip.

That move has taken Massimo by surprise and when he stood up, he attacked Zander, ramming through him, grabbing his waist, and flipped him over his shoulders. When Zander got back up, he attacked back. They went on and spar for at least an hour until Massimo call it off.

“Do not overwork yourself boy. You need to rest.” Massimo told Zander.

Zander who was panting real hard sat down on the ground and looked at Massimo.

“Are you glad that you got promoted to Beta?” Zander asked.

Massimo huffed and then he sat beside Zander.

“Honestly I don’t really care about the position. It’s still the same; I still do what I have to do for the pack.” Massimo paused and then he smiled.

“But what really makes me happy now, is that Alessa and I no longer need to hide and we are having our pup.” He continued and Zander smiled as well.

“I am truly happy for you and mama Alessa,” Zander said.

“Thanks, boy.”

Then Zander frowned.

“You call me a boy again, need I remind you that I am a hundred years old already.” He said and Massimo chuckled.

“But you are in a place way back before you were born. So that makes me and everyone else here older than you, boy.” Massimo said chuckling and Zander pouted.

There was a moment of silence between them before Zander asked Massimo something.

“How does it feel that you finally found out where or who your parents are?”

Then Massimo sighed.

“I’m glad to know that my own mother didn’t leave because I was defective. It’s a bit sad though that she has to sacrifice herself just to keep me safe. But I don’t know what to feel about the demon part.” Massimo said and Zander looked at him as he felt his fear.

“You’re scared that you might lose control and hurt everyone, are you?” He asked and Massimo nodded.

“From what I have heard from the elders’ stories, demons are a very vicious creature. Killing is their sport; they do it for fun to satiate their hunger. And they will not stop once they started.”

‘He is not wrong though.’ Aluzam said.

‘Are you saying you are like that?’ Zander asked his demon.

‘Of course. But I am what you call a demon with class. I don’t just kill for the likes of it. I kill because I want to.’ Aluzam answered him.

“I know you have a demon in you too. But you were brought up knowing about it –“

“On the contrary, I just recently found out about Aluzam, my demon,” Zander said, cutting off Massimo.

“What do you mean? Doesn’t your father has a demon too? He at least has taught you a thing or two.”

“Yes he did, but I thought all those lessons are for when I get my demon or whatever. As it turns out, I already had my demon even before I was born. They just sealed him up.” Zander said and Massimo looked at him.

“What?”

”I just found out recently from my demon Aluzam that they had to seal him up when I was born since my newborn body cannot handle his power and they were scared that I might destroy the whole kingdom. But as it turns out when they sealed my demon, they also sealed Zari’s angel; thus when something happened to her recently, it triggered the seal to be broken, affecting me as well.” Zander explained.

“That was surprising.”

“Yeah, and quite disappointing too. They could have at least told me so I have an idea of what to expect.” Zander grumble.

“How are you managing your demon now?”

“I accepted him as a part of me. We should be one and not fighting over like water and oil.” Zander answered and then he looked at Massimo.

“You haven’t felt your demon side?” He asked and Massimo shook his head.

Then it made Zander think.

“Do you think yours is sealed too? Or is he just waiting for you to lose your s**t so he can take over?” He asked and Massimo looked at him.

“Alright, that’s it for tonight. I am really terrified now, so you go in and rest. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Massimo said and then he stood up.

Zander stood up as well and he patted Massimo’s arm.

“Make sure not to lose your s**t. Goodnight.” Zander told him and then he smiled and jogged towards inside the packhouse.

Massimo watched him get inside, and he thought of what Zander said.

“What does s**t means?”
