The Sealing

 Like what they have agreed on, they are to put baby Zander’s demon to sleep. It’s just for the time being that the prince is still a baby, so Queen Camilla called in Lady Amara to officiate the sealing.   

 Lady Amara, when she arrived, requested an audience with the Queen. And then they spoke in the Queen’s office, alone.

“My Queen, are you certain that you wanted to seal the demon?” Lady Amara asked.

“Yes, Lady Amara. It’s the right thing to do and I already have the parents’ consent,” Queen Camilla told her.

 Lady Amara heaved a deep sigh.

“I am just concerned, what if the sealing will seal all of his powers?”

“I’m sure that won’t happen. If we don’t do this now, there will be a lot of casualties. Zari has seen what her brother can do in just days, and she too has suggested sealing the demon in him.”

 Lady Amara then looked at her hands.

“There could be a lot of things that could happen during this sealing ceremony, my Queen. The baby could get hurt if the demon decided to fight, or if not your grandson, your granddaughter.” Lady Amara said and the Queen furrowed her eyebrows.

“Why Zari?”  

“You have mentioned that she was able to communicate with her brother even before he was born, right,” Lady Amara said, and then the Queen nodded.

“I am afraid that they are more connected than necessary. I believe the princess hasn’t manifested any Nephilim ability, am I right?” She asked and the Queen nodded again.

“I think that was because Alex’s Nephilim was divided into two when it was passed down to his children. The demon obviously went to the little prince while the timid angel went to the princess. What I am trying to point out is that they are used to being one. They are connected. What if, during the sealing, the demon called out for his other half and all hell broke loose?” lady Amara explained.

 Hearing what Lady Amara said made the Queen contemplate her decision.

“But if we don’t do this, many of our people will perish,” Queen Camilla said.

“I’m just saying, your majesty, that if worst comes to worst, I will have to seal what was inside the princess as well. Let it wake up when they are in dire need of them,” Lady Amara suggested.

 Queen Camilla looked at her and then she heaved a deep breath and nodded.

“Do what is best for everyone, Lady Amara.”

 The trusted servants in the castle were tasked to get the east wing tower ready for the ceremony. The minor witches who are Lady Amara’s apprentices cleanse the whole place before the ceremony.

 And while people are busy with the preparations, Alex and Zab are being questioned by their twin brothers.

“Why does our little nephew have to undergo this sealing ceremony?” Lykos and Lynox asked in unison.

“Mother already explained why, and now you are asking again.” Zab hissed.

“Yes, but what we want to hear is your say in this,” Lykos said, and Alex sighed.

“Listen you two. This sealing is for Zander’s demon, who is out of control. My baby cannot control that being inside him. You have got a taste of what he can do, that is just the tip of the iceberg,” Alex said.

“But can’t you control it instead? You have a demon in you. Why can’t your demon tell his demon not to throw any more tantrums?” Lynox asked.

“You dummies.” Zab hissed.

“Demons are not like our Lycans who listen to reason, and my baby is not like you two, who can control your lycan at a very young age.” She said and it made the twins let out a sigh of frustration.

“We are just worried about what this ceremony will bring to our little nephew,” Lykos said, and Lynox nodded.

“Lady Amara will make sure that Zander will not be harmed. If we don’t do this now, Zari’s vision could come true,” Alex said.

 In the evening when the ceremony will take place, the entire royal family is present in the east wing tower, along with the loyal guards. Lady Amara started the ceremony wearing her red velvet ceremonial robe.

 She was chanting some ancient language spell along with her witch apprentices when she motioned for Zab to place the baby in the middle of the circle made up of ashes, twins, and rocks with runes. As Zab placed baby Zander in the middle of the circle, she stepped back and went to stand beside her mate.

 As the chanting of the spell continued, the runes around the circle began to glow and the ash and twigs began to burn. Zab felt really scared and nervous, especially when Zande began to cry. Alex noticed his mate’s uneasiness, so he held her close to him.

 When Zander’s cries began to become louder, the fire from the torches around them grew bigger. Then the circle around the baby caught on fire and a pentagram formed with language no one of them could understand. And as that pentagram continued to burn, the baby’s body began to give off an aura that was darker than the night as black and white energy began swirling around his body.

 Seeing it first-hand, Lady Amara felt scared but still continued to chant the sealing spell. And as the baby’s cries became louder, it seemed like another voice was coming out of him. A more deep and hoarse voice that sounded like it was in pain.

 Zab has tears in her eyes as she watches her baby look in pain. She tried to reach out to him but Alex stopped her. Alex wrapped his arm around her and held her tight.

 Then the runes lit up and it formed what looked like a magic chain and held out the dark energy-sipping out of Zander’s body. As it binds the dark energy, the chilling voice continued to howl, as if it’s calling out.

 Then all of a sudden, Zari’s eyes turned silver and the white turned black, and they could hear a low humming like vibration. Zab and Alex were surprised when Zari took a step towards her brother. Alex tried to grab her but there was a swirling of energy that appeared around her and she threw Alex and Zab away.

 Queen Camilla and the others were surprised to see what was happening not only to the young prince but to the princess as well. Queen Camilla then rushed towards Zari and then she knelt in front of her. She looked into her eyes and cupped her cheek, only to pull her hand as fast as possible. Her eyes were wide as saucers when she felt enormous power boiling underneath her skin.

 Then Queen Camilla remembered what Lady Amara had told her earlier. The possibility that Zari will be affected by the sealing has happened. When the energy that surrounds the siblings tripled, Liam rushed to get his mate out of Zari’s way, and the twins stood in front of their parents protectively.

 Slowly, the energy that swirls around Zari formed into the shape of a woman with wings, while the dark energy around Zander formed into the shape of a man with wings. As the wind picked up, the ground and the walls vibrated, at the same time they heard the loud roaring of thunder outside. Seeing what had happened, Lady Amara glanced towards the Queen as if asking for permission to continue.

 When Queen Camilla looked at her and nodded, Lady Amara took a deep breath and her chanting grew louder. Then the chain of magic that binds the dark energy from Zander also went to bind the energy that is coming from Zari. As both of them were bound by the chains, Zab and Alex had their eyes widened when they saw that even their daughter had been included in the sealing.

“Zari!”

 Zab’s voice died down when Lady Amara spoke the final part of the enchantment and both Zari and Zander wailed along with the energy that sipped out of them.

 Then Lady Amara’s hands glowed and that glow formed two runes and it floated towards Zari and Zander. The runes are attached to their chests and the chains are absorbed by the runes along with their energies. The dark energy tried to fight it off but the rune glowed brighter until everything was sucked in.

 When the bright glow died down, and the sealing ceremony was over, they found Zander and Zari both passed out on the floor. Lady Amara’s knees felt weak and she dropped to the floor as her apprentices went towards her. Zab rushed towards Zander while Alex scooped up his daughter.

 When the Queen approached them, Zab glared at her mother.

“What happened? Why was Zari included in this?!” Zab snarled.

 Queen Camilla cannot find the words to tell her daughter. Seeing her dilemma, Lady Amara stood up with the help of her apprentices.

“It’s because the demon inside the prince called out to his other half,” Lady Amara said, and then they all looked at her.

“What do you mean, Lady Amara?” Alex asked.

“The Nephilim spirit you passed to your children was divided into two. The demon went to Zander, while the angel went to Zari. When Zander was conceived, he immediately made a connection with his other half; the reason they could communicate even before he was born. Also, he only trusts his other half, and during the ceremony, he felt scared, so he called out to his other half for help.” Lady Amara paused.

“The sealing enchantment recognized them as one entity, that’s why it sealed the angel in Zari as well.”

“And you didn’t care to tell us this!” Zari hissed as she stood up with Zander in her hands. 

“I am at fault that I didn’t tell you, because I think it was the right thing to do. I am wrong to think that this won’t happen.” The Queen said.

“Did you also think that this is for the best? Yeah right. Just like how you thought it was for the best when you sent my mate away and kept us apart.” Zab snapped at her mother, surprising everyone.

“Zabrina! Apologize to your mother, now!” Liam growled at his daughter.

 Zab glared at his father as well.

“No.” She hissed and then she walked out of the place with baby Zander in her arms.

 Liam wrapped his arms around his mate and comforted her as she tried not to cry.

“Zab has a point. You should’ve told us.” Alex said lowly, and then he gave his parents a bow before following his mate with Zari in his arms.

 Once Alex and Zab were gone, the twins, who had their mouths gaping, finally spoke.

“Buuuuurn.”

 Then their father glared at them and growled. The twins whined and rushed out of the place, while Liam hugged his mate.
