It was a sunny day in Stone Castle, and Zander was reading a book under a tree outside the castle when Zari suddenly sat beside him.
“What do you want?” Zander asked, not removing his eyes from the book he was reading.
“Have you heard from Ivan?” Zari asked.
“The last time I talked to him, he was teaching in a local high school in Hobart,” Zander answered.
“Why don’t you join him there and teach?”
“He actually invited me there, but I have no intentions of going back to teaching hormonal teenagers as of the moment.”
“But why?”
Zander then stopped reading and turned to his sister.
“Are you by any chance sending me away?” He asked.
“Sort of. I want you out of here because I need you to find your mate again. She could be waiting for you to find her again.” She answered and Zander frowned.
“Did it occur to you that she could be dead by now? It’s been decades, almost a century since the last time I smelled her scent.” Zander told his sister.
It’s true. It’s been that long since the last time he got a whiff of his mate’s scent. And the topic of mates has been a sour topic for his Lycan, Achilles. Somehow, Zander just gave up on the idea of his mate.
Then Zari smiled at him and she wrapped her arm around his arm and placed her head on his shoulder.
“If she was human and she died, I’m pretty sure her soul will find its way back to you,” Zari said and Zander looked at her.
“What do you mean by that? What do you know?”
Zari pulled away from her brother and smiled.
“You’ll see her soon. Not just smell her, but see her, meet her.”
Zander look at his sister and smiled.
“A-Are you sure? When?” He asked.
“That I don’t know,” Zari said and Zander let out a sigh.
“Anyway, I’ve seen Calie getting kidnapped.” She blurted and Zander looked at her, alarmed.
“What? Did you tell grandma?” Zander blurted.
“Calm down, calm down my brother. I talked to Ivan and the one who kidnapped her was her mate. He is the Alpha of the pack where he is in.”
Zander frowned after hearing his sister.
“Her mate? Her second chance mate?”
“Yep.”
“Then why would he kidnap her? Is he stupid?! Why would he kidnap an assassin and a princess?!” Zander snarled.
“Apparently, he is under the impression that she is human,” Zari told him.
“That doesn’t make it any better!”
“Calm down, she’s alright and I just talked to Lysandra. Calie is in Russia now to get away from him. But did you know that, that Alpha flirted with Lysandra before? The nerve of that man!” Zari hissed and Zander gave her a questioning look.
“What?”
“Now you calm down. How can you know so much in such little time? You girls really like to gossip.”
“No, we didn’t. We just like to share information.” Zari reasoned and Zander gave her a deadpan look.
“That’s basically gossiping.”
Zari then rolled her eyes.
“Whatever. Anyway, what are we going to do with that Alpha?” She asked.
“What do you mean what are we going to do? Let Calie deal with him.”
“But –“
“No, but. She’s old enough to know what she has to do.” He told her and Zari pouted.
“But I am bored,” Zari whined, and Zander chuckled at her.
Then he stood up.
“Come on, let’s watch some movie.” He said and then he helped Zari stand up.
And the two of them went inside the castle.
********************************.
Just a few days later, Zari once again disturbed her brother while having a quiet time reading. Zander looked at his sister as soon as she stepped into his room.
“What kind of gossip are you sharing with me this time?” He asked.
Zari then sat on the armchair, opposite Zander.
“This is not gossip. I kind of saw Ivan lost control.” She said and Zander looked alarmed.
“What?”
They knew that Ivan was more of a vampire than of a lycan. That’s why Alpha Creon developed a serum that suppresses Ivan’s vampire side to balance with his Lycan side. While he was in this serum he’ll be normal, but without this, he can easily give in to his thirst and his emotion is a hundred times stronger than normal. It’s going to be a bloodbath.
“And when I called Calie, she confirmed it. Ivan attacked the Alpha, beat him to a pulp, and made a mess in the forest.” Zari said.
“Mess? What kind of mess?” He asked.
“He left a trail of dead bodies.”
Zander closed his eyes and let out a sigh of frustration after hearing what happened.
“Have they found him?”
“Yes, and then dad and Uncle Creon went there to give him his whole year's supply of serum.” She said and Zander let out a sigh of relief.
“The question is what triggered Ivan to lose his s**t like that?” He asked.
“Calie said, the Alpha had s*x with another she-wolf and she felt it. She felt the pain and it triggered Ivan’s wrath.” Zari answered and Zander sighed, rubbing his palms on his face.
“But he’s alright now?” he asked and Zari nodded.
“That’s good.” He said and then he stood up and began pacing.
“I’m beginning not to like what is happening.” He said.
“Me too. But...” She trailed and Zander looked at her.
“What is it?”
That’s when he noticed that his sister’s eyes were white. She’s having a vision. And when it was over, Zari looked at him and smiled.
“She’s coming home.”
***********************************.
Months passed by since Calie came home from her trip to Hobart. She has buried herself with tons of work, whether it's office work or fieldwork. Zari and Zander who are helping her with her work have watched her work like a robot. They knew she was burying herself in workload just so she can take her mind off her mate.
One day, Zander and Zari were eating ice cream in the kitchen when Calie came in.
“Zarina, we need to talk,” Calie said.
Zari looked at her and she looked like she was ready to bolt. But then Calie grabbed her wrist and pinned it to the countertop.
“Dad mentioned that you saw a vision. Tell me what it is.” Cali hissed.
Zander looked at Cali and then at his sister.
“What vision? Did you have a vision and you didn’t tell me?” Zander asked.
Zari pursed her lips.
“I did the other day,” Zari told her brother, then Calie tightened her grip on her and Zari winced.
“Fine, I will talk. Just let me go.” Zari said, and then Calie let’s go of her wrist and sat on one of the stools.
Zari rubbed her wrist and glared at Calie.
“Stop glaring at me and just tell me what did you see?” Calie asked.
Zari stared at Calie for a good few seconds before she spoke.
“I saw you getting married to Alpha Zeke.”
