Chapter 12

Jacks pov

I was sitting in my chair going over the notes of a meeting I just had , when my ex-father in law barges into my office along with his lovely wife Julia and my assistant following them.

"I'm sorry sorry sir. I tried to stop them but they wouldn't. ." Amber starts explaining but I cut her off.

"It's fine Amber. You may leave us now." She walks out and shuts the door behind her.

"Is it true?" Mark starts yelling and at that moment my dear wife decided to join us. Elena walked in took a seat next to Julia and asked "is what true?". I on the other hand had no idea what they were talking about.

"What are you talking about Mark?"

"Don't play dumb with me Jack! Tell me Dammit! "

"Excuse me Mark ,but you can't just come In here and yell at my husband. " Elena said but is cut of when Mark tells her to shut up. She sits down and looks over at me.

"What do you wanna know Mark?"

"Is it true that Shaylene is back?" Mark answers and in freeze. I didn't expect this. How does he know? Did he see her? At that moment Elena gets up.

"What?" Elena says snapping me out of my thoughts. "What is he talking about Jack?"

"Did you see her ?I ask Mark and he just shook his head.

"No I didn't, but Julia did." I look over at Julia and she nods.

"Did you know that she's back ?" Mark asks me and I just nodded.

"I saw her for the first time about a week ago."

"And you didn't think to tell your wife about it ! I was supposed to be the first one who knows about it Jack and you didn't even tell me!" Elena snapped at me.

"Where is she? " Mark asks me.

"I don't know , okay? I just saw her that one time. We didn't really talk. We bumped into each other outside a restaurant and she was with someone and she left." I admit.

"Why didn't you ask her or talk to her and try to find out something? "He asked and I shook my head.

"Oh come on Mark! It's not as if me and your daughter ended things on a good note. What did you expect? For her to run into my arms and invite me over for dinner? Huh? We both know damn well that it's never going to happen. " I snapped at him and got up from my seat.

"Well, what are we going to do? She's back and that cannot be a good thing."He says and I actually agree with him.

"Wait a minute. Why are guys even worried about her? It's not like she can do anything to us. I can't believe that crippled little b***h is the reason you guys are all worked up." Elena says whilst laughing. We looked at her and that's when know realise that she doesn't know Shay is no longer in a wheelchair. She realised that we were staring at her and she looks up and ask " What? " Julia turns to her and says. "Elena, Shaylene is walking again. " the smile on Elena's lips disappears.

"Your kidding right" She starts laughing again but this time my words leave her frozen on the spot.

"It's true. She's walking. I saw her with my own eyes and she seemed perfectly healthy. She looked good."

"So what? She's walking but she's still the same pathetic little wimp she always has been." Elena says.

"I don't think so. She's changed. I can see it."

Mark turns to me and says "So what do we do ?"

"I have no idea. Let's just wait and see. That is all we can do for now since we don't know anything about her or her whereabouts. " He nodded and then walks over to his. He grabbed her hand and walks out of my office leaving me alone with Elena.

"When were you going to tell me?" She asked.

"To be honest. I wasn't planning on telling you. I knew it would upset you."

"Bullshit Jack!Since when have you become the concerned husband?"

"Since I knew that you'll start acting like a b***h once you find out that Shay is back! Admit it

Elena! You've always been jealous of her and the fact that she might be back upsets you. Shouldn't you be happy that your dear friend is fit and healthy again?"

"Don't you mock me. You no perfectly well that I was never her friend!" I started laughing.

"Oh yeah I know. A friend wouldn't have f****d her best friends husband and you did. "

"You act as if you didn't like it. "She said

"I am a man Elena. What did you expect? I only gave you what you were begging for."

" I don't have time to listen to your s**t. I've got things to do." She stormed out of my office slamming the door behind her.

I took the opportunity to phone Burke and find out if he has anything for me. He picked up after three rings.

"Boss?"

"What do you have for me Burke?"

"Nothing yet. I've been quite busy. So far all I know is that she likes going to a restaurant called BeauLene. It's seems like she works there."

"That's not enough Burke! I need to know more! "

"I'll get to it sir. "

"Call me as soon as you find something! "I cut the call before he could respond. I sat back in my chair feeling stressed out because of this whole situation.

What am I going to do? I need to find Shaylene. I need to talk to her and found out what she's doing here and what she wants. All this thinking about Shaylene is making me tense. I can't believe she's back. She looks so good. She looks damn hot. My mind starts drifting of to her in that red mini. Those beautiful curves pop in my mind and I start fantasising.

Oh no. I think I need a session. Without hesitating, I pick up the phone and called Amber. I tell her to get in here and she steps in a minute after I drop the call. By the look she's giving me I can tell that she knows what I want. We don't waste another minute and I can already feel myself relaxing. Just what I need.
