Chapter Eight
'Chris, you left your jacket in the car babe!' Someone called. We all turned to look where it came from, suddenly, a woman came out, smiling. Oh no, I know who she is. I'd seen pictures...
'Janet, What are you doing here?' Chris asked. She smiled at him, then gave me and the other girls an evil look. WOW, What's her problem?
'You left your jacket in my car honey. Here' She tossed it to him. He caught it and got out of the pool. I followed his actions. Ryan passed me a towel and put an arm over my shoulder. Chris and Janet went inside.
'What the hell is that about?' Kayla asked, but im sure it was a question that was on Ambers mind to because it sure as hell was on mine.
'Um...' No one seemed to want to speak. 'Well, you know Chris is married but he and Janet are like...not together, right?' Ryan asked, more at me than the others.
'Yeah...'
'Well, she turned up out of the blue and wanted to talk to him about getting back together' I was shocked. If that was true then why did the guys make all the comments about me and Chris being together then?
'So, what Is Mrs Summers coming home then?!?' I half snapped, half asked sarcastically. Again, no one answered. Soon, the two came back out. Janet sat down on one of the chairs. Chris just grabbed a board and ran over to his ramp to skate. I guess Janet Summers IS back then. Great.
The guys had been home for about an hour and already the house was trashed. Sue and Don went out again as soon as they came home. They wanted to let all the 'kids' hang out. They called us kids. Well, them kids. I think they trust me, Amber and Kayla, more than they trust their sons or their friends. Which, in the long run, is really understandable.
I kept as far away from Janet as I possibly could. While Ryan well, He was to busy with Amber. Ewwwwwwwwww..one of my best friends and my uncle. Gross.
'Can we talk now?' Chris asked. I looked away from the guys messing about and nodded. We both stood up and walked over to the chairs by the skate ramp.
'What do you want to talk about?' I asked as we sat down.
'Come on, I know the guys told you Janet wants to get back together' He said. I looked away but nodded. 'Well, I don't want to be with her, but I sorta have to at the moment' I looked at him.
'You are actually kidding right?' If it was a joke, it was far from funny.
'No, I have to be with my wife at the moment. But it's not for forever. Just for a little while till some things are sorted' He tried to touch my arm, but I pulled it away.
'How long is a little while Chris?'
'I don't know'
'So, what's gonna happen now?' I asked.
'She's moving back in here, she's...going to be sharing my bed room'
WHAT?!?.
'We're going to have to be a real married couple....'
'Meaning?' I hope it didn't mean what I think it means.
'You know what. I'm sorry. And..we're going to have to you know, go out in public and act like it' Why?
'Why? What's going on, why do you have to do this?' I was so confused.
'Because......I just do. But, we can still be together. All this crap with Janet isn't real. I don't love her any more. I love you' I stood up.
'What, you want me to be your secret girl friend while you play happy families with your wife. you want your wife and girl friends to live in the same house with each other. Sorry Chris, but no way in hell is that happening' I told him and went back up the garden, almost dying with shock when I saw Uncle Ryan and Amber making out.
Well, at least they're happy. Passing Janet, she grabbed my arm.
'Stay away from my husband!' she ordered. I pulled my arm away and looked up, seeing Chris walking towards us.
'Don't worry, he's all yours' I told her and went in side.
