(Tayla's POV) This man didn't waste any time over the next month and a half, he had things planned. Dinners, just simple walks outside, some training, even food shopping for Ruth. Anything that would give us a chance to be alone. It didn't take much for us to fall into habits. When out, we held hands, or I held on to his arm. We sat across from each other at any meal but next to each other, in more casual moments. We got to see his more...vulnerable, goofy side. Logan was funny, smart, but also very clumsy. That just made me love him even more, he looked more human to me. I needed that, someone that was humble, not power hungry. Someone that was honest about himself. Even if he was a rich computer guy. For some reason, on one of our outings, I had a bit of a flash back. One I hadn't even thought about in years, but it just took a whiff of cologne for that memory to come back. "What's wrong, Tayla?" Darcy was with us. I looked around for a moment. "You okay?" Logan asked me, rubbing my back. I shook my head. "Yeah, I just got a weird feeling." He looked around but he didn't see anything. "Well, let's go get ice cream, Darcy can't get there any faster." "Yay, Ice cream!" Darcy jumped with excitement, and pulled us along. I had to smile at the little girl, as we headed for the ice cream shop. With Thanksgiving, quickly making its way, everything was ginger, cinnamon, or pumpkin spice. This ice-cream shop was at the mall. A little busier than we'd like, but we could blend better if we were being followed. At this shop they gave us bowls and we could serve ourselves, there were about six ice cream machines. All with different flavors, Darcy went for her favorite pistachio ice cream, while Logan got his butterscotch. I went for the classic chocolate. Then I helped Darcy with her toppings. I got mine and we turned to head to our table, when I ran into someone and their ice cream bowl slammed into my chest. "What the hell!" the woman screamed at me. "My thoughts exactly." I said back, now annoyed, grabbing a bunch of napkins. "Babe..babe are you okay?" a man ran forward, and hugged the woman. "No that b***h, ruined my ice cream!" she wailed dramatically, while I tried stopping the cold cream from going down my shirt. "Tay, are you okay?" asked Logan, coming over. "Yeah, it's just cold and sticky." "Tay..Tayla Nelson?" I froze as I finally heard that old voice. I turned to look at that man and woman. "Jett." I finally said in a flat tone. Still scooping ice cream off, and now not even looking at him. "Hey, long time no see." he said, a little too happy, when talking to his ex. "Not long enough, if you'll excuse me..." "Jett, who the hell is she?" "She's..." "Nobody, I'm nothing, so don't get your damn panties in a twist!" I said, finally walking away. "What about my ice cream!?" she squealed. Before I could turn to say something rude, Logan handed her a hundred dollar bill. "On me buy yourself another one," he said, and followed me and Darcy to our table. "That would explain the feeling from earlier." I said, still wiping the ice cream off of me. "That lady was so mean, they should make her put money in the swear jar." said Darcy as she scooped ice cream into her mouth. A blissful look came over her face. "You're right, Darce, but I don't think they have one here." "She's right, Amy owes you an apology." We looked up as Jett came around to face us. "Not necessary, not like you really mean it when you do." I said, looking at him. His eyes went to the floor, as he looked at me, then at Darcy. "Your family?" "Yes." I said "Nice, anyway, I really do apologize on Amy's behalf and thank you." he said, now looking at Logan, who just nodded. With that, he walked away, the awkwardness still lingering in the air. After a while, I went to get another ice cream, and we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon. On the way home, I could tell that Logan was itching to ask who the guy was. So once at the house, I went up stairs to my room, and he followed. As I cleaned up, he sat on the bed. None of us wanted to break the silence. "That guy seemed to know you pretty well," he finally said. "Not as well as he wanted." I said, pulling the shirt off, and getting a clean one. "Old class mate?" "No my ex." I said, coming out of the closet with my new shirt on, and sat down on the bed with him. "I could see you were annoyed with him, then that little comment at the end..." "Yeah, we didn't end on good terms, and...I really wished I had never seen him again." "What happened, if you don't mind me asking?" I looked at Logan, he didn't have to know, but then again, just talking about it...might help. "Jett and I "dated" through high school. Our fathers worked in the same place. I never knew what but Dad thought it would be a match made in heaven. We had nothing in common, in the worst way. He was jumping from party to party, drinking, some drugs, and...sleeping around with every girl that would let him. That was more than half the school and some college students. I was so lost in my own thing, getting good grades, competing in ice skating, and just really not even caring. Until senior prom, my best friend Arya told me what he had planned for after, a night at a hotel. Not just any hotel, the most expensive. Everyone wanted me to believe he loved me, that yeah he slept around but he would always come back to me. I was the wife." I remember feeling so cornered by everyone, even my own father. "You knew he wasn't right for you." "Yeah, but everyone made me feel like I would never get a better man. I was stupid to let him go. Thank God I got food poisoning the week of prom. I later heard that Arya had gone back to the hotel with him. She explained she was drunk and that the asshole had taken advantage of her. I was too naive. I forgave them both. We graduated and we moved in together, under my father's orders. But he had his own room. I was on a full scholarship, and he was well... just burning all of his daddy's money." "Did he ever..." "He tried, but since my mother died, I have taken self-defense classes. I always whipped his ass." I laughed. "Then how did it end so badly?" "I was getting back from class, dropping stuff off at my room and I found Arya and him in my bed." Logan was pissed but didn't say anything. That didn't hurt me anymore. "After that, I moved back to my Dad's house, which was worse. I eventually found out Arya was a stripper and was sleeping around for extra money. The night we were both attacked, she begged me to meet her. There was a stalker following her and she knew I always carried pepper spray and knew how to fight, so he couldn't take on both of us." "He was wolf and she didn't know?" "Nope, I jumped right in the middle of his attack that night." "Jeez, Tay." "Such a fairy tale, huh?" I said sarcasticly. He pulled me closer to him, and hugged me. "Horror movie more like." I chuckled and hugged him tighter. Just relaxing in his arms, before I knew it, I was fast asleep. When I woke up the next morning, it was to find Logan sleeping next to me. He looked so peaceful, I couldn't help admiring the view. He moved and turned, then his eyes opened. Looking at me. "Morning." "Good morning, how did you sleep?" I asked. "Better than I have in a while." I smiled because that's how I felt, I just slept better when he was around. "So what's on the list of things to do today?" "Actually, I was interested in going ice skating today, the lake is frozen enough to go on there." "Sure sounds like fun." We got up and headed downstairs, ate breakfast and headed back upstairs to get ready. When we headed for the door, Darcy saw us and asked what we were doing. Maia and Walker came out too. "We're going down to the lake to ice skate." said Logan. "You sure you remember how it's been a while," teased Walker. Logan rolled his eyes, but smiled. "Can I come?" asked Darcy. "Do you have a pair of skates?" I asked her. She ran up stairs, and came back with a pair. "Let's go." I said, but looked at Maia to see if she had objections. "Be careful and you listen to Tayla and Logan." "Yes, Mommy." with that Darcy grabbed her coat, hat, scarf, and gloves. After that, we headed out. The lake wasn't that far away, just a short walk from the house. I looked out and got my skates on first, and got on the lake. "Wait a minute, I'll check things before you two get on." "Hey," Logan said, calling me over again, he took a rope and tied it around my waist," just in case." I gave him a small smile and skated out. These couple of months have been pretty cold. Sometimes below freezing. So I could see the different shades of color of ice frozen underneath. The sure thing was the further out the thinner the ice was. So I marked it with a boulder. I made two trips. By the third, I was back. "Okay, we can skate, but don't go further than the boulder, okay." "Okay." said Darcy as I helped her onto the ice, Logan was putting on his skates. Darcy had basic training. She explained she had been going to classes but she kept falling, so she quit. I told her I was the same but that I kept going, then you had Logan mention that I was a champion ice skater, and Darcy's eyes went wide. I looked at Logan, then down at his skates. "Hocky skates?" "Yes, I use to play when I was younger, but haven't been on the ice much after." "Tay, Tay, do you skate like an ice princess?" I playfully glared at Logan, and softly smacked his arm. "Yes, I do." "Oh, please, I want to see you!" I chuckled and went in a distance, and did a bit of my old routine. I did a few spins, twirls, and glides. Coming to a bow at the end. They both sat there in awe. "Was it bad?" I asked. "No, you looked so at peace..." "So beautiful and amazing!" squealed Darcy. I laughed and gave them another bow. "Thank you." For the rest of the time, Darcy wanted me to teach her how to spin, which I did. I tried my best not to laugh, I had forgotten how fun it was when they first started to learn to spin. The kids were like little drunks after class. After a while, Logan suggested we go back. Darcy was getting cold and the wind was about to pick up. We got our boots on, and headed back to the house. When we got there, a familiar car was sitting in the parking lot. My stomach dropped. What the hell did she want? Maia came walking toward us, and she took Darcy inside. I was about to do the same, when Logan stopped me. We walked toward the car, but Brielle came out of the back seat. Bundled in her very expensive fur coat. "Brielle, what brings you here?" asked Logan firmly. She glared at me and then looked up at Logan. "We need to talk, it's serious." "Then talk." he said. She glared at me but then a small smug smile crossed her face. She pulled something out of her coat pocket, and handed it to Logan. It was an ultrasound picture. " I'm pregnant."
