Maya remained stoic while Dastan descended toward the outskirts of the city. He spotted Julius and the others gathered on an open patch of land just outside the city. He smiled when he spotted Rin waving next to a bare tree. As Dastan neared the ground he flapped his wings to slow his descent. He carefully grazed the ground with one talon and released Adon. The peppy mare trotted out of the way as Dastan landed. Maya jumped from Dastan’s back the moment he touched down, headed for Julius. Bartas and Siena leaped to the ground as Elrick tended to Adon. Nolan chased after Maya, making sure she was all right from her tumble. Julius watched Maya approach, sensing that she was under extreme duress.
“Maya, what happened?” he asked.
“I saw something.”
