06 || Liz Part 1

512 Words
Logan and I walked up to the institution, and he was asking me a lot of questions about my life, why I chose psychology, what my favorite subject was, if I liked touching brain, what my favorite part about being a psychologist was, and there were so much questions that I was hardly able to keep up with all of it. In fact, he asked so much questions I wasn't able to answer one. When he finally finished firing me with all the questions, we were greeted by staff of the instution. The head of the institution was also there. If I recall correctly, she was the one who called me over. "Why did you have to call me over?" I asked. "I know you're a busy man, and we do try to refrain from calling you. Do you remember Liz?" she asked. "The kid with learning problems, and narcissistic personality disorder. What's wrong with her?" I asked. "You know she's obsessed with you. She only asks for you and refuses to be seen by another doctor that isn't you." she frowned. "Did something happen with her? She's usually calm. Did anything trigger this episode?" I asked. "Well... Her mother did come by last week." she trailed off. "Hmmm..." I hummed out. She peeked over my shoulder and noticed Logan standing awkwardly behind me. She smirked at him then at me. "What?" I spat. "So it's true. The cold hearted psychologist opened his heart." she smirked. I groaned in response. I looked at Logan and jerked my head towards the building. I started walking and he was following close behind me. "Liz is one of my special cases. I normally wouldn't make any exceptions for anybody, but it's very different with her. Have you ever dealth with someone who has NPD?" I said while we walked. "No, but I do know the textbook definition." he said. "It is the same as what the DSM says, it's just incredibly shocking for a first timer to deal with real-life cases." I explained. "You have to be prepared for anything." "How do I do that, Dr. Burton? I don't even know Liz' case?" he trailed off. "All you have to do is know her diagnosis, and expect the unexpected. That's the thing about being someone who works in this field. No matter how many times to anticipate something, you'll never know what will happen next. You may know all their triggers but everyday they could be delevoping a new one and you might even trigger a breakdown." I explained. "I see." he trailed off. "You being my student and personal assistant, I expect you to be quick on your feet. No matter how many times our patient hurts us, we should never hurt them back. No matter what." I said. "You really like being a psychologist." he stated. "I do. As tiring as it is, I want to keep doing this forever." I quietly said. "As long as you'll allow it, I'd like to stay by your side and learn more from you." he said.
