Vini Vici vs Wildstylez- Chakra  Setting up is fun when you're excited. It's kind of fun when there are people around that are interested in what you have to say. Explaining something you love to someone who wants to listen is probably the best feeling in the world. The way they look at me, the smile that mimics my own is something else.  "Hey," I looked up to see Rite walking in with an older guy. I had seen him back when I was a freshman. I don't remember much about him. "Hey," I greeted standing up straight. I had been securing the wires on the floor with duct tape.  "You remember my brother Antone, right?" I looked Antone over and I have to say that no. I don't remember him being Rite's brother. I don't remember him having an older brother. Ever.  "Sorry," I shrugged. He smiled and I swear I swooned internally.  "It's cool, lil mama. I'm Antone," he introduced himself, before extending his out for me to take.  "I'm Baby," I answered taking it. His hands are massive. My hands were tiny inside of his.  "Your name is Baby?" I nodded.  "Baby is my name," I confirmed making them both laugh. "Colt said you needed a ride home?" Rite asked.  "He took my car?" I groaned. They both nodded. Of course, he did. "Uh, yeah. I'm almost done here," I said looking around.  "I'll be your ride," Antone informed me, raising his hand. I looked between them.  "What?"  "I have some stuff to do for coach and Colt is gonna be MIA for a bit so I made a call," he shrugged. "I will meet you here when the dance starts. I know you'll be here before that,"  "Yeah," I nodded. He leaned into me kissing the top of my head before he ran off. I looked up at Antone as my face burned. He laughed.  "You need help?" he asked.  "Mind flipping the pink switch when I say so?" I asked pointing at the turntables. He nodded going over to them and then looked back at me.  "This whole ass table is pink, Baby," I laughed going to plug everything in.  "It's the bedazzled switch,"  The lights all came on and the sound of the auxiliaries all echoed in the speakers. I walked over plugging my laptop in to make sure the soundcheck is in order. He watched me. I've never had an audience and having his eyes on me is a strange sensation. One I've never had before. I kept glancing over at him feeling nervous. He kept the same cute smirk plastered on his face. "You good?" he asked when I turned everything off.  "Yes," I nodded putting my things into my backpack.  We walked out to the guest parking lot. There's a brand new Ranger Rover parked in the direction he's leading me. He pulled out a set of keys and pressed the alarm unlocking it. There aren't any tags on it yet. What does this guy do for a living? He's not much older than us. "What?" he asked when I climbed into the passenger seat.  "Nothing. This is just really nice," I tried not to sound condescending.  "Glad you like it," he nodded.  That is all that was said other than me giving him directions to my house. I thanked him. He stared at me like he wanted to say something but my dad showing up stopping him. My dad stood there looking at us like the overprotective cop that he is. I laughed as I climbed out and went inside and started getting ready.  "Who was that in the Rover?" my dad asked when I came down. He looked my costume over and nodded approving of it.  "It was Antone. Rite's brother,"  "Antone, I haven't heard anything about him for a long time. When did he get back?"  "I don't know. This is also the first I'm hearing about it. Do you mind giving me a ride to school or do I take Colt's car?"  "Take his car. I came to pick up some things I left yesterday. Call me if you have any trouble," I nodded. I looked in the mirror of the downstair's bathroom to make sure everything is in place. My make-up came out on point. I love it. I've been practicing so that I can get it just right. I walked out of the house and headed over to Colt's car. It's parked in front of his house. That same eerie feeling came over me and I reached for the pendant around my neck. Without looking back at it I got into the car and made my way to school.  The line outside of the gym is starting to get long. The costumes are really cute. I was allowed inside the gym when I showed them my pass. I put everything in order and put my phone on shuffle so that the area wouldn't be quiet as everyone began to poor in. I have about fifteen more minutes before I officially have to start. Once there was a large enough group, the senior class president came over to me to tell me that they were ready for me to begin. The lights were all dimmed. Everyone began to cheer, making me laugh. The excitement in me amplified with the loud sounds coming out of the speakers. I started with my take of Vini Vici's Chakra. A soon as the song picked up everyone started dancing. They loved it when the lasers came on. Even more when my new fog machines went off. Their favorites were my bass boosted horror film mixes.  I had made them for him but he's nowhere in sight. That stings a little. It was a little after eight o'clock when Colt finally showed up with a few others. They waved me down through the crowd before the went about their business. I don't see Rite with them. I haven't seen him since he introduced me to his brother. As time got closer to the end of the night, I started to feel a little bumbed out. I picked up my phone and text him. Then I text Colt asking if he had seen him. He's probably in no hurry to look at his phone right now, though. I took my break and walked over to him when he didn't respond right away.  "You're killing it," he shouted over the music. I tried to smile at him. "What's wrong?"  "Rite hasn't text me back. Have you seen him?" he shook his head before taking his phone out.  "I'm sure he's fine," he shouted when he came up with nothing.  "He was supposed to meet me here," I informed him. He looked me over before leaning into me.  "I'm sure he has a really good excuse," he whispered into my ear. I stepped away feeling irritated.  "You didn't do anything to him did you?" he laughed.  "No, I told him I was cool with it as long as he didn't take this as a joke. I told you I was okay with it. Why would I take it back?"   "Whatever, it doesn't even matter," I waved him off before going back to the stage.  I have two more songs before I have to give them a finale. I glanced up at the door when a swarm of cops barged in. The lights were turned on and my dad waved his hand signaling me to cut the music. I turned everything off and handed him the mic.  "I'm sorry for the interruption everyone but the dance is over. We'd like for all of you to make your way out to your cars and head home. A city-wide curfew is now in progress. You will be fined if caught by any officer," my dad announced.  I looked over at colt who just shrugged before coming over to me. My dad stopped us from leaving. Everyone was complaining about the hour we still had to go but they were leaving anyway. I looked around one more time trying to see if Rite had shown up and maybe got cold feet but there's no sign of him.  "What's going on?" I asked my dad once the gym was empty enough. He turned to look at us.  "When was the last time you two saw Rite?" he asked. My stomach did a somersault. We both glanced at each other.  "Practice. I left after to pick up my dad's ashes,"  "You have proof?" my dad asked him. I looked at my dad confused. Colt pulled out a receipt and offered it to my dad who looked it over before pocketing it.  "I saw him before leaving earlier. He told me he had something to do with the coach. Antone dropped me off at home and then I came here. What's happening?" He sighed heavily before looking us both over.  "We found a body out in the baseball field two hours ago. It's Rite," Chills broke out over my skin.  "What? No, I just saw him. You're lying," I shouted. My dad pulled me to him when others turned to look at us.  "Sweetie, keep it down," he warned. "Please, tell me this is not real," I demanded taking hold of his jacket.  "I'm so sorry, Baby," he whispered when I started to cry.  "I'll get her things," Colt's voice is low. This is not happening.  "I know there are a million things going through your head right now, Baby, but I need you to come with me to the station. I need to get your statement. Do you know where-"  "Where is he?" I jumped at the sound of Antone's voice echoing in the gym. There are tears streaming down his face. He's beyond angry. "Tell me he's right here with you, little girl,"  "Antone," my dad tried to stop him. Antone grabbed my arm roughly pulling me to him.  "Please, please tell me you got him," he pleaded. The fear in his eyes startled me. It somehow makes all of this real.  I stepped away from him shaking my head. He fell to his knees wrapping his arms around my legs. I jumped when he roared out with a lot of pain. My dad and Colt tried to pry him off as I tried to steady my breathing so that I didn't completely break down. Is this really happening? "I'm sorry," I cried leaning down to try and help him up.  "That's my baby brother, man," he cried. "He was just right here. No,"  A few other officers came over to us and pulled him off of me. Colt took my hand and led me towards the door. I froze when we walked out and paramedics were rolling out a black body bag. There's a body in there. Colt pulled me to him trying to keep me from seeing it. Others around us started whispering asking what the hell is happening.  I wrapped my arms around Colt and turned away from what was happening. At the end of the parking lot, the same truck from before slowly drove by. There are two guys with purge masks on. From where I'm standing, I can clearly see them looking at me. I feel their gazes hold mine until they disappeared into the next street.  "That truck," I called out. Everyone turned to look at me. "Dad, that truck,"  "Baby, calm down," he shouted running over to us. "No, dad. You have to listen to me. I've seen it before. No one at this school drives it. It's a six-wheel f-250. Silver. License plate 5t134ul. Dad, please, you have to listen to me," he pulled me away from Colt and everyone else.  "Baby, calm down. You can't just point fingers,"  "Dad, it was her. You told me to stay away from her and I didn't listen. She did this. They hurt Rite, dad. I know they did," he shook his pushing me towards his car with Colt following close behind.  "Baby, stop," he shouted once we were far enough from the others. "You're not making any sense. I know everything is a little overwhelming right now but-"  "No, you're not listening to me. They threatened me, dad and now Rite is gone. How is this not related?" I cried out.  "Baby, I can't just arrest someone. I need you to calm down," my ears started ringing with the anger coming over me.  "You know I'm right," I shot back pushing him off of me. His features soften telling me that he knows I am.  "I know, sweetheart but until we have evidence. There isn't a single thing we can do," he whispered. "Let's go,"  I answered all of their questions. My heart ripped apart when his mother came into the station with Antone to identify Rite's body. Colt held me against him as I tried not to completely lose my mind. By the time I got home, only one thing was swimming in my head. I got Rite killed. Those bastards killed him because we don't have the same skin color. This should have been the first of many fun nights. This shouldn't have ended this way.
