It was another workday and Emily had set up a meeting with Bernard to finally discuss the land Raymond was proposing. She was walking towards his office as she looked at the points she had discussed with Raymond and printed out on a paper.
With a nod to Bernard's secretary, she walked inside Bernard’s office.
“Good morning, Mr. Hansen,” Emily said, and Bernard looked at her with a grin.
“Good morning, Emily. How are you doing?” He asked and pushed the glasses up his nose while gesturing for her to take a seat.
Emily sat down and replied, “I am good, how are you?”
“Oh, I am good, though a bit worried about Ruth,” Bernard said with a hint of worry.
Emily frowned after hearing that. She had sensed that Ruth was not at the best of her health, but seeing Bernard getting worried troubled her deeply.
“Is she okay? I know she’s not that strong as before but I hope she’s well,” Emily said.
Bernard nodded with a sigh. “That’s what I am worried about. Her health is declining day by day. Doctor has said that there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with her body. But we see her getting weak.”
Emily nodded with a frown. “I have observed that too. I just hope that she gets well soon.”
“We are hoping for that too. That’s why I am planning on taking her for a trip somewhere peaceful,” Bernard said.
“That seems like a good idea to me,” Emily said with a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry, she will be okay soon.”
Bernard nodded and then shook his head with a sigh. “I am sorry for burdening you, Emily. You must be here for something important.”
“Actually, it’s not that important. We can talk about it later,” Emily said with a shake of her head.
“No, no. I remember you mentioned a land. Tell me about it,” Bernard insisted, at which Emily gave in and sighed.
“Actually one of my clients, Raymond Artair, came to know about your project and that you require land for it. He says that he has the land that would meet your requirements and he wanted me to initiate the proposal,” Emily explained, and Bernard listened carefully.
“Yes, it’s true that we need a specific type of land for our new project, but does he really have one? Because we have been looking at several proposals and none of them meet all of our requirements,” Bernard said with an eyebrow raised in question.
Emily shrugged and said, “I don’t have the details, but if you wish to meet him, he will definitely share with you the details and the proposal.”
Bernard nodded and agreed. “Okay, I will ask my secretary to schedule a meeting with him. Leave his contact details with my secretary.”
“I will, thank you for considering my reference,” Emily said and Bernard smiled.
“Emily, you’re family. So no need to thank me.”
Emily smiled and almost felt like hugging Bernard but didn’t. “I don’t know what to say.”
“Don’t worry, I get it. I will see you at that meeting, okay?”
“Sure, I will see you then, goodbye,” Emily said with a nod and left.
She was relieved to finally be able to schedule a meeting for Raymond. It had been days since he had been asking her to extend his proposal and she finally had much to her relief. Walking to the elevator, she sent a quick text to Raymond to inform him that he would be getting a call soon.
She glanced at the door of Oliver’s office and wondered if she should disturb him. After a moment of thinking, she pressed the elevator’s button. She remembered she had a meeting lined up and wouldn’t be able to spend much time with him. It would be better to see him at his apartment.

Oliver was out for a meeting and on his way back to his office, he was stuck in a terrible roadblock. He looked through the window of his car but couldn’t see any movement of the cars ahead of them.
Cursing under his breath, he ran a hand through his hair. “How much time is it going to take?”
The driver looked at the map on his phone. “It says it’s an hour-long traffic jam.”
Sighing in defeat, Oliver slumped back on the seat. He first checked through his phone then glanced outside again in impatience.
His gaze stopped at a jewelry store and he couldn’t understand why, but his gaze was stuck on a piece of jewelry in the front of the store. Since his car was near to the curb, he could easily spot the various pieces of jewelry set up for show.
Oliver glanced over his watch and informed his driver. “I am outside, call me when the traffic moves on.”
The driver nodded with wide eyes.
Oliver got out of the car and sprinted inside the store. The sales assistant immediately greeted him and Oliver quickly asked for the bracelet he saw in the front.
The sales person nodded. “Please have a seat, sir. I will quickly present the piece to you. Do you want something, coffee or a drink?”
“No, thank you. Just that bracelet,” Oliver said.
He was waiting for the sales assistant to come back when his gaze fell on a pendant. It was a diamond-shaped pendant with multiple blue diamonds in the middle with a border of small white diamonds.
Oliver’s mind quickly imagined that pendant around Emily’s neck. His face lit up a smile. Initially, he was looking to buy that bracelet but he had no idea for whom. But now he knew he would get that bracelet for his mother and the pendant for Emily.
For some reason, he was also eying the ring matching with the pendant but he knew it would send a wrong signal to Emily and he didn’t want that. A necklace was enough for now.
The sales assistant returned with the bracelet and presented Oliver with several other designs as well. Oliver quickly selected the bracelet and then ordered the man to pack that pendant as well.
“Excellent choice, sir. This is from our exquisite collection. I will get it packed for you quickly,” the sales assistant said, and Oliver nodded with a smile.
He was lost in wondering how beautiful it would look on Emily’s bare neck. It puzzled him how he had never bought any jewelry for any of his girlfriends before but for Emily. She wasn’t even his girlfriend… yet.
A thought struck him and he was surprised as to why he hadn’t thought of it before. Maybe it was time he should ask her out. He wanted her to be his and he was elated at the idea of it.
