Emily’s eyes were stuck to the screen as she took in the notification of several missed calls from the woman named “Evelyn.” Her heart was already sinking in her chest, much to her irritation. She had told herself that it was only a friends with benefits arrangement and there would be no feelings involved, but yet here she was worrying over a call.
“Here,” Oliver said, passing her a drink, and she was shaken out of her thoughts.
She took the drink and drank it in two sips. Oliver, who was eying the sudden change in her posture, frowned.
“Everything okay?” He asked, putting his glass down on the dresser.
Emily nodded, avoiding his eyes, afraid that he would see too much. She didn’t want to seem desperate in front of him and it would hurt her self-respect if he knew about her feelings when he had no feelings for her.
“Yeah, I just remembered something. But this drink will definitely help,” she said.
Oliver tugged her closer to him and gripped her chin in his fingers, tilting her face up to look into her eyes. “Whatever it is, it will be fine. Don’t worry.”
He remembered the time when she had been in Miami, crying over something, and he wondered if it was the same thing that had got her worried. He wanted to soothe her but he had no idea what ailed her. And in that way he could only think of one way to soothe her worries.
Sighing, he threaded his fingers through her hair, at which Emily closed her eyes.
Slowly he brought their lips closer and parted hers open with his. A sigh escaped her lips and she circled her arms around his neck.
“Make me forget everything, Oliver,” Emily said, and kissed him deeply, which he returned with equal fervor.
He pulled her dress down, which was already unzipped, and got rid of his clothes as well at record speed. He pulled her legs up to wind around his torso and carried her to the bed.
Emily ran her hands over his back and continued to kiss him. She felt like if she let him go he would go away from her and that fear made her cling to him like there was no tomorrow.
Oliver broke the kiss and then peppered kisses down her jaw and then to her breast where Emily’s moans became louder.
She fisted the bed linen as he licked, kissed and gave love bites all over her body. Oliver was hard as a rock and couldn’t wait any longer and, without any warning, he pushed himself inside her and Emily moaned louder, squeezing his shoulder.
They continued to make love and it wasn’t long before both of them were panting hard lying in the bliss of peak s****l pleasure.
Oliver kissed her nose and then her forehead and she kissed him on the neck and shoulder as they continued to lie there in each other’s arms.
After a while, when they were getting back to their senses, Oliver asked.
“Do you want to watch a movie? Maybe you can stay overnight,” he asked, and Emily bit her lip in thought.
Oliver gently freed her lip from her teeth and kissed it.
“Yeah, I will. You don’t have to persuade me anymore,” Emily said, returning his kiss, and Oliver chuckled.
After that, Oliver and Emily showered together, where they made love again. It was like they couldn’t get enough of each other.
Emily was lost in thought when Oliver passed a towel to her. She wrapped herself in the towel and walked out of the bathroom.
“Oliver, I can’t wear that dress, please pass me some of your pajamas,” Emily asked, and Oliver came out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips.
“Yeah, take whatever you want from my closet.”
Emily smiled and went inside his closet, picking up a t-shirt and a pair of trousers which she knew would be loose on her. Then she picked a pair of shorts instead of trousers.
While she was getting dressed, Oliver was preparing popcorn, drinks and other snacks for the movie.
Emily came out of the bedroom surprised to find the couch extended into a bed and the snacks set down for them. Oliver smiled to see her surprised.
“All for you, ma’am,” Oliver said with a wink, and Emily smirked.
“Don’t call me that. It turns me on,” she said, and Oliver’s eyes twinkled.
“Now? Or was it always like that?” He asked, sitting down beside her.
“Shut up and start the movie,” Emily said with a smirk, and Oliver shook his head.
After fifteen minutes of searching, they settled into a thriller and played it. Emily snuggled closer to Oliver and put the popcorn in her lap. It was only a while ago when the movie was playing and Emily’s phone rang suddenly.
“Who is it?” She asked herself while Oliver paused the movie.
She picked up her phone and frowned at seeing her mother’s name. Declining her call, Emily sent her a text that she would be calling her later as she was busy right then, but then, even after reading her text, her mother continued to call.
“What’s going on? Why isn’t she texting?” Emily said in irritation.
“It’s okay, just pick up the call.” Oliver said, pointing to her phone.
Emily picked up the call and put it to her ear.
“Yes, mom. What is it?” She asked and her mother shuffle on the other end.
“Emily, where are you?” Her mother asked and Emily frowned. She looked towards Oliver for an answer but realized that he couldn’t listen to her mother.
“Uh, I am in a meeting right now. Is there anything urgent?”
It was then she heard the sniffle. Her mother sniffled and Emily stiffened beside Oliver. He noticed the change but didn’t ask.
“Mom, what happened? Why are you crying?” She asked in panic and Oliver also sat up.
“Please just come home, right now. I… I can’t do this,” her mother said, and Emily nodded to herself.
“Okay, okay. Just stay there and I am coming,” Emily said with a shiver in her voice. Oliver grabbed her hand as she hung up and asked.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know, she was crying and asking me to come home,” Emily explained to Oliver and he nodded.
“I have to go, Oliver. I am sorry,” she said to him and looked at the preparations for the movie dejectedly.
