8 “I want to go home.”

1993 Words
Mikaela sat in the headmistress’ office with her head down and her hand underneath her thighs. She was in so much trouble. The coach was there too. They stared at her with disappointment in their eyes. And Mikaela felt it too acutely just like when Heather and Bree dragged back to the school after she stupidly ran away from them. Mikaela didn’t know what she had been thinking. She couldn’t exactly run away from two werewolves who were intent on catching her. The whole school had laughed at her chanting that she was weak and a coward for running away from her first fight. Mikaela bit her bottom lip wishing she could die right there and there. There was no reason to live if she was had to live there. Everyone was going to laugh at her now. “I want to go home,” she said wincing as pain shot through her cheek. She hit something hard when Bree or Heather, she couldn’t tell them apart when they were in their wolf form. One of them tackled her to the ground, it felt like she was hit by a train. Her body ached all over from that hit. And they wanted her to fight someone like that? Mikaela shook her head. Heather would have crashed her in the fight. “You have to call him,” the coach said. Mikaela looked up at him wondering who he wanted the headmistress to call. “The Alpha King has to know what happened.  None of our students have jumped the fence. This is an offends of great proportions. I don’t care that she was scared. She shouldn’t have done. That is enough to get her kicked out of the school.” Shit…Mikaela bit into her bottom lip. Couldn’t they expel her without calling him? she asked her. If they expelled her, he would have no choice but to take her home. “I know…. I know…” the headmistress said visibly panicking. “The Alpha King is not easy to deal with. But it will set a bad example for the other students if we don’t deal with it.” She picked up the phone and called him. Dammit…Mikaela felt sweat dot her skin. Fear bubbled in her stomach. She didn’t want for him to come there. He was going to blame her for what happened or maybe do something worse to her. She didn’t know him that well, but so far what he did snatching her from her family told her that he wasn’t a nice man.  She closed her eyes and listened to the headmistress speak to him. “We will see you soon,” she said hanging up. He was coming, Mikaela thought her body turning cold. “Go and wait outside. The coach and I have something to discuss,” the headmistress said. Mikaela got up and walked out with shaking legs. She was so of scared of seeing the Alpha King again. She sat on the bench outside the headmistress’ office. Rose appeared around the corner. She stared at her for a minute, checking the coast, and then she rushed towards her, with Ryan behind. Mikaela cringed at the sight of him. She didn’t want to see him. He must think she was a coward too. Shit…she was embarrassed now. Ryan stared down at her with his beautiful eyes. He extended his left hand at her, offering her a snicker bar with such flourish it made her smile. “I told you I could make her smile,” he said hitting Rose slightly on her arm. “Yeah, yeah, yeah…you’re gorgeous we all know this,” Rose said with a shake of her head. She stepped closer to Mikaela. She touched her cheek with a hiss. “Does it hurt?” Mikaela nodded. “Haile and her goons. I can’t wait for the day when she’s removed from her position as the strongest one amongst us,” Rose said with hatred in her voice.     “She’s stronger than everyone, even the other supernatural beings? You are a witch right?” Mikaela asked surprised. She thought when she said that Haile was the strongest she meant the strongest over the werewolves. And not the entire school. “I am. But you saw I didn’t even hurt her when I threw my magic at them. She’s stronger than even the vampires. They say that she might marry the Alpha King one day when she’s older enough if her powers keep growing,” Rose said slumping onto the bench that Mikaela was sitting on. “That would be the worst. Imagine her as the Luna to the Alpha King. We’re all going to die.” “Why would you die? You’re not a werewolf. It’s us who are going to suffer,” Ryan said with a laugh. “Yeah, but other supernatural beings respect the Alpha King. My coven pays their respects to him, and view him as our leader. Even though he doesn’t have much to do with the witches. He still affects most of our lives. And everyone lives in peace with each other,” Rose answered Ryan. “We are all under his rule. It’s just not official yet. But I believe it’s just a matter of time.”  “Is that a premonition,” Ryan asked curiously. “I am not sure…maybe it’s just a feeling,” she said wiping at her brow. “Why him?” Mikaela asked. She didn’t understand why Rose or her coven would put so much faith in the Alpha King. He wasn’t the man they thought he was. He was cruel, mean and he caused werewolves under his rule pain, because he didn’t get what he wanted. Her mother didn’t deserve this. Mikaela felt tears prickle her eyes, but she pushed them away. Her mother was probably worried sick about her now. And he didn’t care, because he had to have his revenge. She opened her mouth to tell them that he wasn’t the powerful leader that they thought he was, when Luke came walking down the hallway. Mikaela clamped her mouth shut knowing that he was going to appear any second behind him. She sat there frozen waiting for his large tall frame to appear. She waited for the strange suffocating feeling to fill her. But no one appeared behind Luke. He came to a stop in front of him, and smiled at her with his kind eyes. Mikaela was a little disappointed that he didn’t come. She didn’t even understand why she felt like that because she didn’t want to see him. “Are you alright?” Luke asked as he stared down at her, his eyes focused on her cheek. “I’m fine. I just want to go home. I don’t want to be here,” she told him. Luke just stood there, as if he wasn’t sure what to do. He stared at her for a few minutes not saying anything. Ryan coughed next to him awkwardly. Luke finally looked at the headmistress’ office. “Uhhh…lets go talk to her and then we will see what happens next,” Luke said walking to the door. He knocked once and then opened it. He waited for her to get up and walk towards the office. He ushered her inside. “Headmistress Victoria,” Luke said looking at her behind the desk. “Samson,” he said to the couch. “Are you practicing for when you have your own child?” he asked. But Mikaela could see the strain around the couch’s face. He wasn’t happy to see Luke there. “How is the Alpha these days?” “He’s good,” Luke said turning to the headmistress. “What happened?” The headmistress turned to the coach. He pulled his face irritably. “She ran away from the first training session. She was facing the strongest…” the coach was explaining but Luke interrupted him. “You still do that?” Luke asked displeased. “It’s the tradition for every newcomer in the school. You went through it. I did too. Or don’t you remember the days that Marcus used to beat everyone in school,” the coach said defensively. “I remember, but with Mikaela we have a special case. She is half-human. I little caution should be used when dealing with her. What did professor Bedford say?” “He put her in the werewolves’ class. So she’s definitely not human. He wouldn’t have done that if she was,” the headmistress said staring at Mikaela. Mikaela fidgeted under her stare. “She said that she wants to go him. You know we can’t force her to stay.” Luke nodded. “I will talk to the Alpha King,” he said getting to his feet. Mikaela did the same. They walked out of the office. Rose and Ryan were gone. Luke turned to face her. “I am going to talk to the Alpha King. I can’t guarantee that he will allow you to go home.” Mikaela felt anger rise within her. He wasn’t her alpha he couldn’t control her. God, she hated him. She stared at Luke, and stomped away. She dashed the tears that filled her eyes irritated that she was crying again because of that beast. Fuck…. she hated him so much. She ran to the fence that she scaled that morning. She stared at the trees beyond. The feeling that she should go there filled her again. She will find a way out of that school even if it was the last thing she did. She looked around her and saw the other students who were walking around staring at her, and whispering about her. “She’s going to run again,” she heard them say. Mikaela pushed away from the fence and walked to her room. She kept her head down as she walked quickly. She was glad that there were a few students in the house. And their whispers and laughter were not that obvious. Mikaela ignored them. She entered her room to find Rose there. She was sitting on her bed as if she was waiting for her. She screamed, scaring her as she walked in.      “Why didn’t you tell me you know the Alpha King?” she shot to her feet and came at Mikaela. Mikaela moved out of her grasp. Has she gone crazy? Mikaela shook her head. “I don’t know him. He…” Mikaela was about to tell her that he practically kidnapped her, when Ryan came to a stop in front of the door. “Are you guys ready?” he asked looking from Mikaela to Rose. “What is going on?” Mikaela asked looking from Rose to Ryan. “It’s your cheer up party?” he said slumping his shoulder as if he was disappointed that no one was as excited as he was. “Are they coming?” an equally handsome guy came to a stop next to Ryan, except he was paler than Ryan. Rose smiled broadly at him. “Max,” she crooned as she threw herself into his arms. Mikaela’s mouth fell open as she watched them kiss right there. Ryan rolled his eyes. “Can we please go?” he shouted over their heads. “Yes,” Rose said pulling away from Max. She pointed at Mikaela. “You, go change. I will take them away. You will find us outside.” What the hell? Mikaela stared as the door closed behind her. She stood there for a few minutes and then realized that this could be another way she got out of there. She hoped Rose and her friends knew another way out of the school. She could get away once she was out there. She quickly got changed. The f*****g Alpha King can kiss her ass, Mikaela thought as she walked out.
