Working hard

ANGELICA'S POV After taking a deep, shaky breath, I gained my composure. I wasn’t supposed to act so foolishly, no matter how hot the man before me was and how much I would’ve loved to rip his mask and kiss the hell—- I groaned inwardly at the drifting thoughts again before I cleared my throat. "I can help you make popcorn," Yes. That was the best answer that left my otherwise intelligent and sassy mouth as I struggled to control my emotions and thoughts. "It's okay. I got this," he said, his gaze still intense. His mask made it impossible to tell if he was annoyed or neutral, leaving so much for the overthinking thoughts that I was already overwhelmed with. "I am sorry for sleeping on you earlier," I blurted out when I couldn't find anything else, and he stopped what he was doing, placing the scissors on the counter before turning to me. "I am not offended by your actions, Miss Angelica. However, I would rather you don't rub people in questionable areas when you sleep on them," His words made me immediately look down, and I wished I hadn't because as soon as I looked back into his eyes, there was a dark amusement that I have never seen before. "Got caught?" He whispered, backing me into the counter as he bent to my eye level, and I gulped, unable to look away. "I.. didn't mean to look -" "You didn't mean to look where Miss Angelica?" He asked, his hands trapping me between them as my back hit the counter and my heart drummed in my chest at a fast tempo. His cologne wafted through my nostrils, making me almost want to grab his t-shirt and pull him in for a kiss, wondering what it would feel like - I coughed when I realized my trail of thoughts. "I... I..." I gulped, and he looked into my eyes for a few seconds, searching for something before he straightened. "I was just joking. As I said, I will bring the popcorn in a minute or two. There is not much to do. You guys wait for me," He said, and I nodded absentmindedly. I turned around, ready to leave, when he grabbed my hand. "I hope you are at least happy with the size," he whispered into my ears. Heat crept up my neck and cheeks, and I looked at him wide-eyed. He just did not make that kind of lewd remark with me, did he? "One pack of this size should be enough for the three of us, right?" He raised the packet in front of me, and I looked at the packet before looking at him and nodding, my insides trembling at the weird thoughts clouding my sanity. "Y-yes, sir," I mumbled before turning and walking to the living room as if my body was on fire. I gulped a mouthful of water to quench my thirst as soon as I reached the couch. I turned around and saw Sir Dylan looking at me. "That was my cup, you know," He said, and I looked at the glass before putting it down hurriedly. "I...I am sorry,” I stuttered before closing my eyes and sighing. This wasn’t good. If I stayed here, I would keep making a fool out of myself. My head didn’t seem like it was sane anymore with the kind of thoughts that were infiltrating my reasoning ability. “I just remembered that I had to go back to my apartment and call my parents and arrange a few things here and there. It's almost midnight. It would be better if we sleep, right? I wouldn't want to disturb your sleeping schedule. Good night, sir Dylan. Goodnight, sir Ericson!" I shouted towards the kitchen in the end before rushing out of the apartment. That was more embarrassment than I could bear in a single day. What the hell was wrong with me? I hadn't even seen my boss's face, and I was already turning into a horny b*tch. Things like this have never happened before. I screamed inwardly, closing the door. I threw myself on the bed first thing before closing my eyes, hoping I wouldn't dream about my s*xy bosses again. But a dream wouldn't hurt. Uhhh… I kicked my legs in the air, frustrated. The next day~~~ No one told me this job would be this rough and tough. If you think working for two bosses who barely make a public experience and have one personal secretary other than you was an easy job, you were terribly wrong. "Miss Angelica, where are the minutes from the morning meeting? I told you I wanted them before 11," Dylan's cold voice came through the intercom, and I hurriedly closed the file before rushing to his office. "I am sorry, sir," I apologized before putting the file on his table. "Here," I waited for him to dismiss me. He nodded at me without raising his gaze from his Laptop, and I nodded back before rushing out when I heard another ping on my intercom. "Miss Angelica, the papers you had left for printing are ready. Please collect them asap," I sighed before running to the printing room, which was two corridors away. "Hey, I'm here too—oomph." I bumped into someone and rubbed my nose to ease the pain. "I am sorry," I apologized without looking up and collected my papers before rushing out of the room to be available for my bosses before they ping me. “Miss Angelica, what is wrong with this schedule?! I asked you to reform it and schedule Martin’s meeting on Friday,” “Miss Angelica, I told you to arrange the formats, didn’t I?” “Have you sent the email already? Why is it still not with our clients?” “Have you reviewed the docs before sending them to me? Why is there a mistake in the signing amount? Didn’t I tell you to cross-verify with the finance department?” The torture continued for more than two hours before it was lunchtime, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I would’ve preferred a small nap over food if a bed were available. To say I was exhausted would be an understatement. I seriously hate my heels more than anything. They should let the secretaries wear running shoes for a job like this because that's what I have been doing for the past 4.5 hours. Seeing an incoming call from Victoria, I smiled before picking up. "Come to the fifth-floor cafeteria. I am waiting there for you," Victoria said, and I sighed before picking up my purse and leaving the room. As I entered the lift, I saw a man entering with me. "Are you okay?" He asked me, and I looked at him, confused. Was I supposed to know him? Have we met before? Why don't I remember? He certainly has a face and body that would be hard to miss, so - "You bumped into me in the printing room, remember? Though I believe you wouldn't have even noticed who it was from how you ran. It looked quite painful. I am Alen, by the way," The guy extended his hand, and I smiled. "Angelica. I am so sorry for earlier. It was my first day, and I had trouble cooperating with things. I didn't know how to serve my two bosses without them yelling at me," I shook his hand, and he laughed before shaking his head. "That's completely fine. I heard from the printing lady, who you were working for, and already knew how tough things might be," he said, and we walked to the fifth-floor cafeteria together. "So, do you have someone you are eating with? Should I introduce you to my group?" He asked, and I shook my head. "I have a friend eagerly waiting for me. I will join you some other time?" I said before walking to Victoria, who was waving her hand at me like an excited best friend ready to spill all the beans about things she shouldn't be talking about. "Girl! What took you so long?! I was starving," She said, and I sat on the table with a smile. "So?" She asked me. "Kill me," I groaned, and she giggled. "I ordered your favorite things already. So just stuff your mouth and relax," Victoria said. Her words made me smile, and I was about to tell her how much she understood me when a man walked to our table, looking at me awkwardly. "Oh, you are here," Victoria held the man's hand before looking at me shyly. Now that I look at him, he does look familiar. "Have we met before?" I asked the man before looking at Victoria for answers. "Yes. You saw him at the club," Victoria looked at her fingers on the table, and I raised my brows at her before extending my hand to the man. "Angelica," I said, and the man smiled at me. "Harris," he said in a bold voice, and it immediately reminded me of Ericson. Damn it. I need to stop thinking about them. I swear the brothers have been on my mind for more than - I looked at my phone and saw it vibrating. It was a private number. I looked at Victoria with a stiff smile. The last incident with a private number hadn’t been nice. "Hello?" "Miss Angelica? Where did you go? We are waiting for you in our office," Dylan said, and I looked at the number again before clearing my throat. "I came to the fifth floor to -" "Can you hurry up?" He ended the call, and I looked at the phone in utter disbelief. What the hell? Don’t tell me they wouldn’t even let me eat in peace. "Who was it?" Victoria asked, and I sighed. "The bosses. I have to go. I don't know what this is about, but they need my presence urgently," I looked at Victoria, who didn't look too pleased. Hell, I wasn't pleased either. This lunch was supposed to be my relaxing time. I was hoping to catch up with Victoria during this free time and tell her everything, but—huh. "Guess we can't ignore it," Victoria thinned her lips before placing her hand on mine comfortingly, and I nodded at them. "I will need a proper introduction later," I winked at her before walking out of the cafeteria. I passed a small smile to Alen, who smiled my way.
