"Let. Me. Go," I growled at everyone in my room. I had to see Killian; I needed him.
"It can't do, sweetheart," Esmeralda said. So now, you need to sleep," she snapped her fingers, and darkness consumed me.
I was in a bathroom I had never seen before, and the most exquisite scent enveloped me. It must be Killian; only he can make me drool like that. I looked around and noticed someone in the shower; the glass doors let me see who it was. Killian leaned on the tiles while the cold water hit his head and back.
"Go inside," Linda insisted.
"Are you crazy?" I asked in disbelief.
"You know you want to," She was right. I wanted to, and there was no way this was real. It must be a dream.
I could see all his muscles on full display, and I couldn't believe they belonged to my mate. He was huge, and all the training he had done throughout his life clearly showed.
Was he in pain? Why is he leaning like that?
I stripped off my clothes and entered the shower; as soon as I did, I noticed how he tensed up. Maybe I should get out.
"No way," Linda came forward and moved my hand so my fingers trailed his skin. Killian immediately calmed down as the sparkles from our bond erupted. I can't believe this dream is so vivid; everything feels real.
"Hello, mate," she purred softly as she got closer to his ear. Our naked body was pressing against his.
"Linda, give me back control," I insisted.
"No way, I want to have some fun," she replied, nibbling on Killian's ear.
He growled softly but seductively. I could feel how my core heated from only his voice.
"Jen, what are you doing here?" He asked.
"What? Can't I come and find my mate?" Linda purred again.
Fuck. Me.
"Jen, you might regret this later; you should step outside," he insisted and tried to open his eyes, but my body immediately lunged forward, and my lips pressed against his chest.
Killian's lust was evident; his hard d**k was pressing against my stomach. I can't believe that has to get inside me; it is monstrous.
"Can I mark you?" Linda asked, and I decided that was it. I took back control from her.
As I did, I felt like I had been taken out of that place, and I woke up with a gasp.
What the hell was that?
"Mate is fine as hell," Linda commented.
"Of course he is. It was a dream, and he is perfect in them," I replied.
"That...was it a dream? I felt Apolo," She told me.
But there was no way that could have been real. Killian left, I was on the pack, and he was Goddess knows where.
I decided to get up and prepare myself for school. It would not be a fun day, but I had to go. I didn't want people to whisper, telling me how sad I am now that Killian has gone or that he didn't accept the bond, and that is why I was alone on my birthday. My mom told me I could stay home, but I was stronger than that.
As I stood up and rummaged through my clothes, I felt the necklace move around. I didn't look at it yesterday; with all the pain that engulfed me, it wasn't something I was worried about. I grabbed it in my hand and looked at it. It was a gold chain with a crystal in the middle. Inside it were swirls of blue and green that shimmered if I moved it around. Ian told me that Killian had given him the necklace, which must be what he was talking about, the spell so that I wouldn't feel the distance pains.
I stopped looking at the necklace and continued to search for something to wear. Everything I tried on seemed wrong. A blue blouse and jeans felt too plain, and a floral dress seemed too formal. I scrutinized each outfit I put on in the mirror, only to frown and toss it aside. I was feeling more and more frustrated with each passing minute.
There was a soft knock on the door, and my mom entered my room. She had a warm smile on her face. "Happy birthday, sweetheart," she said, her eyes filled with love and concern.
I can't imagine how hard it must have been for her. She saw me lose control, and I even growled at them. I opened my mouth to apologize, but she lifted her hand, telling me to stop.
"You don't have to apologize for anything, sweety; I can't imagine how hard it must have been for you. Esmeralda told us that the necklace Ian gave you is embedded in powerful magic. You won't feel that pain anymore," she explained.
"Thanks, Mom," I replied, forcing a smile.
She looked me over, noticing the pile of discarded clothes.
"Are you planning on going to school after what happened last night? I told you, you can stay home if you want."
I sighed.
"Yes, I want to go but can't find anything to wear. Nothing looks right."
Before my mom could respond, Anne burst into the room with a huge bag.
"Happy birthday, birthday girl!" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling excitedly. "Let's get you looking stunning."
My mom laughed and left the room. Anne quickly surveyed the mess of clothes and started picking through them. She selected a white off-the-shoulder top with delicate lace trim and a pair of high-waisted black jeans that hugged my curves perfectly.
"This will look amazing on you," she declared, handing me the outfit.
I hesitated for a moment but then decided to trust her judgment. I changed into the outfit and looked at myself in the mirror. The white top contrasted nicely with my blue eyes, and the jeans fit me perfectly. For the first time that morning, I felt somewhat satisfied with how I looked.
"Thanks, Anne," I said, genuinely grateful. "I don't know what I would do without you."
"You'd look like a mess," she teased, but her smile was affectionate. "Now, let's put some makeup on," she smirked.
"No, you know I don't like that. It makes my face sticky all day, and I can't touch my eyes because then I would look like a raccoon," I got away from Anne. Now I knew what she had in that bag.
"It will be something subtle; you won't even notice it, and you don't need mascara; you have huge eyelashes," she muttered at the end.
I tried to fight Anne on the makeup, but in the end, I gave in. She kept her word, fortunately, and only corrected the dark bags under my eyes from the lack of sleep last nigh, but some gloss on and a shimmering thing over my eyelid.
"You look beautiful," she said, handing me a mirror.
I did, I have never liked makeup, but I had to admit she did a fantastic job.
"Now... your hair," she said.
Oh no...
After Anne finished my makeover, we finally headed downstairs together, where my dad and Aian were waiting. I greeted them both.
"Happy birthday, Ian," I said to my brother, giving him a quick hug. "Hey, Dad."
"Happy birthday to you too, Jen," Ian replied with a grin.
My dad beamed at us and then walked over to the oven, pulling out a cake that had been hidden inside. "Surprise!" he announced, placing the cake on the table. It was a simple but beautifully decorated cake with "Happy Birthday, Jennifer and Ian" written on it in elegant icing.
I felt tears forming in my eyes. My parents have always made sure that our birthdays are special. Ian and I loved celebrating our birthdays together. Ian took Anne's hand to get her closer to him. My best friend should find a way to divide herself because she has to spend time with both of us.
"We could spend our time with Killian," Linda whined.
I wish I could, but he was not in the pack right now, and I needed some time alone. After that dream, I realized that if he was in the same room as me, I would probably mark him. He told me that this necklace would prevent him from feeling cheating pains as well, and I guess that it applies to him as well.
"If mate cheats on us, then we cut his d**k," Linda growled.
"He can do whatever he wants, Linda; I was the one that drove him to that point. I can't tell him what he can't or cannot do," I told her.
She growled at me and closed the link between us.
My father told us to gather around the table, and once we did, we started signing. "Happy Birthday" to Ian and me.
As I looked at my brother and her mate cuddling, I couldn't help but think about Killian. The dream from last night lingered in my mind, making it hard to focus on the celebration. I wondered if he was thinking about me, too, wherever he was.
I was being selfish, I know, but I couldn't help it.
The birthday song ended, and we blew out the candles together. I tried to push thoughts of Killian aside and focus on the moment with my family and friends, but it wasn't easy. The bond between us was stronger than ever, and despite the necklace, I felt hollow. I was missing a piece from my soul.
"Are you okay?" Anne asked softly, noticing my distraction.
I nodded, forcing another smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just... a lot on my mind."
She squeezed my hand reassuringly.
"He didn't leave forever, he will come back. Just take it one day at a time."
I nodded and thanked her for being there for me. Now, I only needed to go to school and survive the day. Piece of cake, right?
———————————————————————
Piece of cake, my ass. This day has been hell. People look at me and whisper about me not having my mark. Ian and Anne disappeared, but I couldn't blame them. The bond pull is strong, making you want to mark each other constantly. Tatiana has made fun of me, telling me that Killian hated me so much that he decided to leave the pack before marking me.
I thought about calling my mom and telling her to get me. I don't want to be here anymore. I don't get why people are so mean, especially girls. I have not done anything to them; I wasn't the one who chose my mate; the Moon Goddess did.
At one point, I decided to hide outside the school. I grabbed a hoodie from my locker to cover myself up and tried to make my body as small as possible.
Why? Why do I have to suffer because of the bond? If Killian would be here, then he would tell everyone to f**k off.
"You drove him away," Linda scolded me.
"I know, and I regret it," I replied.
That's when a thought hit me. I could ask the Luna where he was. If she saw how much I was suffering, she would most likely tell me where he was.
Yes, it was a perfect plan. I stood up and started walking, but then I was stopped by someone I didn't expect to see today.
"Hello, dear sister-sister-in-law," she said.
"Lillian?"
