LEAH Life hadn't been perfect but it had been good before mom's death. She had been hit by a drunk driver on her way to the mall. To this day I still blamed myself for mom's death. She had been on her way back from getting me the shoes I had wanted all summer. It was meant to be a surprise on her part. They were shoes I had seen earlier, before the beginning of summer, and I was dying to have them. Every one else in school had them.
