Emma.
I looked at Gwen without any fear. She may be just a twenty-something girl. I understood that she was in the process of finding herself, but she had already told me I was a slut.
"I'm not afraid of you, Gwen," I said. "You've gone too far."
"Gwen was about to slap me back, but Professor Stanley stopped her immediately.
"Stop. You don't realize we're on university grounds!" Professor Stanley screamed.
Gwen pointed at me very rudely. "She started it!" Gwen screeched.
"Really?" I felt challenged by Gwen's attitude. You said to yourself that you sabotaged my car. Luckily, Nathan knew about it."
"What?" Gwen was suddenly frightened. "Nathan?"
"Even he told me. I can report you to the police for attempted murder, Gwen!"
Professor Stanley was becoming increasingly overwhelmed as my argument with Gwen went all over the place. I shouldn't be saying this, but Gwen had already made me angry.
"You'll get what's coming to you! If Nathan is avoiding me, it's your fault!"
Gwen quickly walked out of the lecture hall. I couldn't get over Gwen's brutal attitude. Isn't her family wealthy? But why doesn't she have a good attitude?
Professor Stanley looked at me. While I was confused myself.
"You should have been more patient, Mrs. Wilson," Professor Stanley said.
"Gwen is already making up lies about me. How could I let her?" Professor Stanley knew what was going on, but he defended Gwen.
"You know, Mrs. Wilson. The world is cruel. If you have money, then the world will be kind to you. I can't help you. Gwen must have complained to Mr. Johan Smith," Professor Stanley said.
"Why? What did I do wrong? And why would Gwen go to Johan Smith?"
"Gwen and Nathan are rumored to be engaged. Rich people have agendas we don't understand, Mrs. Wilson."
Professor Stanley walked away. I feel like this place has been influenced by wealthy people's money. It's a university, but I haven't found any education here.
I don't want to linger here. I went home immediately. After changing my clothes and preparing to go to Johan Smith's house, I sent Professor Hudson a message apologizing for not going to his house that night. Here. I had to come to Johan Smith's house for no apparent reason. Fortunately, Professor Hudson was understanding. He's very kind. At least we have good colleagues at this university. I don't feel entirely antagonized. Why should I be stuck working in a place that makes me feel like riding a roller coaster? Nothing is predictable.
I soon arrived at Johan Smith's house. Since there was no car, I decided to walk. Nathan's room was opposite mine, but the gate to Johan Smith's home was quite far from mine because his house was so big.
I pressed the bell to enter the house. In an instant, the gate opened automatically. I entered alone with an awkward feeling.
"Excuse me," I greeted a man who was cleaning the garden. "Mr. Johan Smith invited me to come. Where can I meet him?" I tried to be polite.
"You can enter through the front door, Miss. A butler named George will tell Mr. Smith."
"Okay, thank you so much."
I quickly followed the worker's instructions and entered through the front door. A man, I believe named George, greeted me very politely. He escorted me to the living room. He also invited me to sit down and offered me a snack. Since I was so hungry, I agreed to get chocolate biscuits and hot tea.
I waited ten minutes while enjoying the biscuits served to me. Johan Smith appeared, dressed very neatly and smartly. Because they looked so much alike, I strongly believed that he was Nathan's father.
"Thank you for coming, Mrs. Wilson," Johan Smith said.
"Ah, I am grateful to have been invited into your marvelous home. I was just wondering why I was invited here," I retorted.
"I like aggressive women like you," Johan Smith said.
I gulped at Johan Smith's words. He and Nathan had excellent seduction skills. It was a privilege in life, but seeing the lives of the rich was nothing new to me. I was once married to a rich man, at least his family was. I could easily maintain my attitude in front of Johan Smith.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Smith. I was just curious," I replied. "I don't know if you often come to the university."
Johan Smith crossed his legs, puffing out his chest to look convincing. He was full of confidence. Most conglomerates are like this. They are very confident and believe the world is in their hands because they think they can buy anything with money.
"I heard about a little incident at the university involving my son and his future fiancée."
"Oh, Gwen," I said. Now I understood why Gwen was so excited earlier. "I wish you could look at this situation more objectively, Mr. Smith. I don't know what caused Gwen to act the way she did toward me. I apologize if I caused a scene."
"No, no. It's me who apologizes. Children should be taught good manners and to respect their lecturers more. That's why I invited you here to apologize formally. I hope you'll forget about this matter."
What the hell is this? Why is Johan apologizing? I thought he was going to scold me. A few moments later, Nathan walked into the living room. He was surprised to see me here.
"Mrs. Wilson," Nathan said. "You are here."
"Aah, I have a few things to discuss with your dad," I replied.
"Apologize," Johan Smith ordered Nathan.
"For what?" Nathan felt he had done nothing wrong.
"You made a scene on campus with Gwen. You really embarrassed me. Mrs. Wilson is a new lecturer at the university. You should show her some good things. What if she doesn't feel comfortable teaching there? I don't want to lose a stunningly beautiful lecturer like Mrs. Wilson."
I was dumbfounded at Johan Smith's words. What did he mean? Why would he say such things about me?”
