She is obviously trying to distance herself more and more. Requesting the Emperor to allow me to take another concubine before marrying her... Presumptuous! I would take one whenever he wanted to, but he has no intention to take one for the time being. My whole day has been filled by thoughts of hers. How on earth I have the time and effort to entertain another woman? What had made her treat me so cold now? I am not satisfied. I am not willing. She will be mine.

The Emperor saw how they glare to one another. This is worrying... Is it still possible for this marriage to be a happy one in the future? The Empress seems to read his mind, she pats the top of his hand.

"If Fenghuang thought so too, then the General is to be allowed to take a concubine of his own choice."

The Empress said with a smile on her lips before she continued to say, "But, it his choice for the making. There is no rush. Isn't that right, General?"

General Bing Xiaji smiles then reply, "Indeed, Your Majesty. This General didn't have any intention to take a concubine now. A few days ago, this General received a piece of news that the border needed extra military personnel... This General respectfully requested His Majesty to allow him to guard the border on an urgency basis."

The Emperor cunningly smiles and says, "Ah... Border..."

He knows that the border does indeed need extra military power, but he also realized that the military camp area is quite near to his in-law’s manor. His valiant mother-in-law has been guarding the very same border for years. But as time passes by, she has been letting go of her military powers gradually, she has also written a proposal for a new general to be stationed there as she needed more time to spend with her husband. Too bad that his brother-in-law never had the intention to join the military. He is more interested in being a merchant, a quite successful one too. His father-in-law, on the other hand, is a well-known scholar in the Kingdom of Long. When General Bing Xiaji requested to be stationed there, he cannot help but think that the cunning younger man has been planning for it for after knowing his eldest daughter’s intention to stay there.

The Crown Princess furiously glares at the man sitting next to her, "What do you mean, General? Didn't this princess tell you not to bother her while she is away? What on earth are you thinking?"

Everyone stares at the couple with fascination once more. Interestingly, the couple has been quarrelling yet again.

"This General is doing for the sake of the kingdom of course. Do rest assured that he will not inconveniently disturb Her Royal Highness unnecessarily." He said in a joking manner.

She smiles at his words and says, "Well... Do not blame this princess if she is never to show her face in front of you then!"

He smiles but decided to not say anything. It is not like he cannot watch her without her realizing it he thought to himself. With that, he can make sure that no man will somehow try to court the princess within those 5 years. Problems solved!

The Emperor cough and says, "Well... The General's request is allowed then. The Crown Prince will then take over the military matters in the imperial city while the General is away."

The Crown Princess looks unbothered with this new development and cursed the General inside her mind, "This incorrigible man! I will make sure that your days will never be an easy one. Leech!"
