Austin POV
The sound of my bedside alarm woke me up the next morning. I heard Fallon groaned lightly and turned around from sleeping in my chest to the other side of the bed. I quickly put them off before it could wake her up.
I rubbed my sleepy eyes and looked at the woman that sleeps next to me. A smile made its way to my lips as I admired her ethereal beauty. I like her long brown hair that was now sprawled on the pillow and her hazel-colored eyes that looked like a pool of honey under the sunlight. I am one lucky man.
Hi, I’m Austin Moore. In all the world, I love Fallon Lane the most. I would do anything for her. That’s why I went frantic last night when I couldn’t reach her phone. She’d NEVER left her phone unanswered before.
My brain instantly thinks of many bad scenarios. Fallon was completely fine yesterday morning when I called her. She even told me that she had a surprise for me tonight.
I make a random guess it must be something about her job. She’s always so passionate about her job. And that’s what draws me more into her. She was the type of woman who would never settle for less.
Feeling desperate, I then decided to went to her favorite nightclub. And my hunch was right.
There she was. Sitting by the bar, looking dejected all by herself. I hate to see her crushed like that.
After spilling every detail about her failed job promotion plan to me, I couldn’t help but feel sympathetic towards her. Seems like a new person stepped in to block her way to the top. But Fallon is a strong and dedicated woman. It was only a matter of time before she got promoted. I was damn sure about that.
As a good boyfriend, it was my duty to make her feel better. I then decided to ask her out on a dinner date at that newly opened french restaurant that she couldn’t stop talking about.
I shifted closer towards her, spooning her from behind and giving her a light peck on her right cheek.
“Happy birthday to you, princess,” I whispered in her ears, making her giggle.
“Stop it, Austin. It tickles.” She said, slightly pushing me away before she turned around to face me.
I did that on purpose. I know that Fallon liked it when I kissed her without shaving first.
“Are you having a good sleep last night?” I asked her, moving a strand of hair from her face and tugged them behind her ear. She briskly nodded at me and smiled.
“Do you even need to ask? After that mind-blowing s*x last night, I slept like a baby.” She bluntly admitted.
This is the other thing that I like about her. She never hid anything from me and always being fully opened.
And yeah… I have to agree with her… last night was amazing. Seriously, there’s no problem that you can’t fix with good s*x. I made her come at least four times last night until she blissfully slept on my chest.
My life after her was perfect. I can’t picture my life before I met her. It was pretty boring and meaningless.
I had a bad history of dating before. I was being cheated on by my ex-fiancée. I found her f*****g her colleagues in our apartment… in our bed, to be exact.
The place that I especially brought for her as a proposal gift. We were supposed to live together in that apartment after we got married. Too bad we had to call off the wedding after I caught her red-handed during the act. She argued that I never had time for her, and then her feelings somehow changed.
We never spoke after that, and I sold the apartment immediately because I couldn’t help but feel disgusted every time I came back to the place.
“Oh s**t, I have to go to work!? I’ll be late..” Fallon suddenly shocked me by jumping off the bed and hurriedly ran towards the bathroom.
After only ten minutes, she emerged from the bathroom, making me impressed by her speed in taking a shower. Her hair is wrapped in a towel as she puts on her makeup.
This had been my favorite part of the day. I like watching her preparing herself for work. Her bare face was pretty. She looked innocent without any makeup.
But once she put on a bit of makeup, it’s a total game-changer. She looked powerful and ready to conquer the world under her feet. Oh damn… I was a hundred percent obsessed with this woman.
I sent her to the door then blew a deep breath after I saw her car drove away. I can’t wait for tonight’s dinner. This was a special day for her since it was her birthday. And I already had a perfect gift in my mind.
I knew that she had silently crushing over Louboutin’s high heels. I caught her stealing an awfully long glance at those pairs of heels while we were strolling in the shopping center last week. As expected, my woman had excellent taste.
After I took a shower and had a cup of coffee that morning, I drove my car out to the shopping center.
The shopping center was not that packed with people today since it was Thursday. I went directly to the store, and a saleswoman instantly came to assist me.
“How can I help you today, sir?” she asked me politely.
“I’m looking for a present…My girlfriend is having a birthday today.” I told her. She looked pleasantly surprised. “Well then, you’re heading to the right place, sir. Shoes are a girl’s best friend.” She said.
I’m not sure that’s the right phrase. It should be diamonds instead of shoes, right? But, whatever.
I’m not going to start a debate with her over a small trivial thing.
My eyes wandered around the place, looking for that black heels we saw last time, but it was nowhere to be found. “Excuse me, do you still have that black one with the strap on the ankle? It was on display last week.” I asked her.
“Oh, that new one? I’m afraid we just sold the last pair a moment ago. They’re selling really fast.” The woman said apologetically. It’s crazy how they could easily make money even though it was sold at a high price. It was ridiculous how women liked to spend that much only for something that belonged to their feet.
Oh, Great! Now I have to find another present for Fallon in… not more than five hours. Panic soaked into me almost instantly.
“What do you think about this one, sir? This is also nice and also one of our newest collections.” She said, offering me nude high heels in her hands. The shoes that she offered were also nice, but that’s not the one that Fallon wants.
She would be disappointed. And I don’t think I could stop blaming myself if that really happens.
I let out a depressed sigh as I walked out of the shoe store. I strolled around the shopping center for a good two hours, but there was nothing that seemed good enough.
I suddenly slowed to a stop at some diamond store. A blue sapphire pendant caught my attention. The center stone was in a pear teardrop shape, and it had many small diamond stones around it.
This could be a perfect gift. Moreover, sapphire is her birthstone. I went in and decided to buy the pendant instead as a gift. It was quite pricey, but it was worth it… if this could put a smile on her face.
************
I picked her up later in her office after making some reservations at the restaurant. I just can’t wait to meet her again. I wanted to see her reaction after I showed her my present.
I fished out my phone and let her know that I was waiting for her in the lobby while trying to ignore the flirty stare from the woman that passes by me. Some of them even recognize me as ‘Attorney Moore’ because I came here a few times before.
Another blonde woman was about to flirt with me when I suddenly saw Fallon walked out of the elevator. “Get your hands off him… He’s mine!” Fallon said, making the blonde jumped back in surprise. I love when she put on her possessive behavior. It’s kind of sexy.
“Oh, Fallon…I’m sorry I didn’t know he was your boyfriend.” She then ran off like a scared cat.
Fallon snorted after she left. “What a bitch.. I swore she flirt with every person with a d**k here.” Fallon said, making me laugh.
I pulled her into a tight hug and gave her a side kiss. I didn’t care if this was the office. I have to give her a kiss. I just missed her so much. Especially today when I look for her present.
“Ready to go now?” I then asked her. “Yes, please… I’m starving.” She said, and then I guided her into my car, walking hand in hand.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Slow music playing in the background as we ordered our dinner. We both cracked some jokes as we talked. I love spending time with her. With Fallon, I would never get tired.
We had finished eating the main course, and dessert was coming after this. Now it’s finally time to showed her my gift. I slid the velvet box in front of her, and her eyes went wide.
“Attorney Moore, are you proposing to me right now?” she teased while putting one hand on her chest. Damn. Was that a hint from her? I should’ve brought her a ring instead.
It’s not that I don’t want to marry her. Heck, she even had moved into my place in the last few months, and I knew how wonderful starting a family with her would be. But something about marriage still scared the hell out of me.
The pain from the past still haunts me. As she saw the change in my expression, she then laughed it off.
“I’m just messing around with you, Austin… Can I open it?” Fallon asked, raising the box in front of her.
“Sure..” I replied, then smiled thinly at her.
She slowly opened the box and drew in a sharp breath. “Oh my God, Austin… This is beautiful.” She said, her eyes still fixated on the small blue pendant.
“I’m glad if you like it… Let me help you to put them on.” I offered, then groggily got up from my chair.
I stood behind her and put on the necklace. Her hand gently touched the necklace.
“You looked beautiful…It looks good on you.” I then told her.
“This must’ve cost you a fortune,” Fallon said, staring back at me, looking concerned.
“Hey, I ran my own company. This thing barely makes a dent in my wallet. As long as you like it, then it’s fine with me.” I told her while pinching her nose lightly.
“Of course I like it!.. Thank you. You’re the best boyfriend ever, Austin Moore.” She then said, hugging me tightly.
