14. Leaving him

Adriana's POV:

Oliver was gesturing me with his hand to come to him while Liam was standing there, lost. There was anger in his eyes a few minutes ago but now he is blank. Antonio stood in front of me, hiding me behind him.

"Let's go, Adi," Antonio said, grasping my arm. 

I looked at Liam who was stilled at his spot. He didn't say a single word and I was waiting there for him to react to it. Yeah, I wanted this because his silence was making me feel as if he doesn't care if I go away with anyone. 

I know he always acts as if he doesn't care but there was a part of me thinking that he actually cares but it is like he just doesn't want to show that.

Antonio took a step forward, holding my hand and we were about to walk past Liam. I was still waiting for him to stop me. There was no way I was going with Antonio leaving behind him and Oliver but at least he could show a little concern about me.

My shoulder brushed with Liam's and Oliver called me. It was the point when I felt Liam's hand gripping my wrist. 

"Leave her," Antonio said in a very low but dangerous tone. 

"No." Liam simply replied.

"Let go of her I said." Antonio wrapped his arm around my waist.

"She has a debt to pay. I can't let her go." Liam said, straightly. "Pay me the amount and she is yours." 

I put my hand on my mouth to hold back the sob that was about to escape when I heard him saying this. I was not a prostitute or something. How could he say that? My heart still acts deaf to his words and keeps asking me to fall for him again and again?

"Tell me the amount," Antonio asked. 

My red eyes were holding gaze with Liam's cold eyes. 

"10 million dollars," Liam replied, looking right in my eyes. 

"You will get the amount transferred in your account by the end of this week," Antonio told him, pulling me towards him but Liam kept my wrist clutched.

"I don't believe you," Liam said to Antonio but his gaze on me was telling me otherwise. 

No belief, No love, No respect yet I want to be with him. Just great!

"What do you need for assurance?" Antonio clenched his teeth, standing right in front of Liam. They were now face to face.

"Just pay the amount and I'll divorce her right then," Liam said. 

They were negotiating about me. Nobody was asking about what I want. They were talking about me as if I was some kind of business deal for them.  

"I don't roam around with million dollars in my pockets damn it!" Antonio retorted. 

"Stop it you both!" I shouted, yanking both of their hands. "I'm not a thing for sell! I'm a human and you both have no right to make any decision without my consent!" 

"Oh, really? But your father has sold you to me and I have every right to make a decision about you and you can't even say no to my orders." Liam 

"I can! I'm an independent woman and even my father had got no right to sell me. You are such a pathetic, selfish, arrogant and psychic person. Now I've understood why Serena left you. You don't deserve love. A sick person like you does not deserve love." I spat all this in anger and when I was done saying all this, I regretted every word of it. 

There was a moment of silence before Oliver started crying. Liam's eyes showed a mixed emotion of anger and hurt. His eyes turned red and I couldn't understand whether it was because of anger or the tears. 

He rested Oliver's head on his shoulder and bite on his lips. He nodded his head and then turned to leave. I gasped, palming my mouth. Oliver was calling me and my body went numb. Everything was looking like a blur. I extended my hand to stop him, to stop Oliver but before that Antonio engulfed me in a hug. 

I was left with no strength. I was exhausted from all this. From hurt, from insult, from life. The warm tears left my eyes and I cried in Antonio's arms. 

"Shhh! The good times have come now." Antonio said, consoling me.

"Oliver was crying." I sobbed.

"He will be fine. His father is with him." He replied. 

"But he-...."

"Adi. Stop worrying about others. It's now your turn to live your life. I'm not going to let anyone destroy your life this time. You deserve all the happiness of the world and I will make sure you get them all." He caressed my hairs but my tears didn't stop.

I was totally exhausted. My mind wasn't working but there was a pain in my heart. My eyes were half opened and I saw Antonio carrying me in his arms. He took me to the car where he made me lay on the back seats before joining me there. He asked the driver to start the car and after that, I don't know what happened because the darkness consumed me.

His vision was turning blurry because of those tears that he was trying to keep in. Oliver was looking behind his father's shoulder, crying for his mommy. 

With heavy steps, he reached his penthouse. He turned on the lights and sat on the couch. A tear came out of his eye and he wiped it away at once. He tried to smile for his son and nobody can understand how painful it was for him.

"Dada, Mommy." Oliver was asking him. His little eyes were pouring the water and he was already in sobs. 

"Daddy is here for you. You don't have mommy, my boy. You have your daddy only." He told his son, hugging him. 

It was his breaking point. He cried with his son. Oliver drifted to sleep while crying. This little baby was still hiccuping in his sleep. There was extreme silence. The lounge was dimly lit. Oliver was resting in his father's lap. 

Liam's eyes were looking at Oliver's face. His heart was clenching at his innocence.

"He was a little baby and his mother left him and then I thought Adriana can take care of him like a mother but I was wrong. She was her sister after all. If her sister can leave her own son like this then she can also do the same and even Oliver was not her own son" 

Liam thought. 

"This is how life has played games with us, my son. But I promise you, now I will take care of you. You don't need anyone when your father is here."

He said, caressing Oliver's cheeks. He then dialed a number and asked his lawyer to prepare divorce papers immediately as he wanted it to be his first task done tomorrow morning.
