"Knock, knock! Ms. Jerkins!"
Celia rolled her eyes as she heard the sound of a female voice addressing her by her fake name.
Opening her eyes slightly after only being able to catch a few hours of sleep, Celia tried to recall where she was.
"Ms. Jerkins, I came to deliver your dress. Mr. Bagel sent you a lovely dress for your marriage today," The knocker added.
It was right there and then that Celia remembered where she was, and what was going on in her life.
Celia jumped up, wearing a very worried face as she hurried to the door.
The knocker was just about to knock again when Celia opened the door to see an elderly woman holding on to a wrapped gown in a hanger.
"Hello Ms. Jerkins. My name is Aidora. I'm the senior stewardess for the Bagel family, and I was asked to give you these."
Aidora held up the gown as well as a pair of designer heels that Celia could not boast of having owned before.
Celia gave the old woman a warm smile and took the clothes from her.
"Thank you."
With that, she entered the room and shut the door behind her.
Recalling the previous day and the events that had led her to the present, Celia fell on the bed dejectedly and looked at the ceiling with her arms spread out.
She heaved heavy breaths as she tried to maintain a cool exterior while she maneuvered through the chaos that was going on in her life.
Celia didn't know what to do. She didn't know what time Sean would come to pick her up, nor what would happen to her within the next minute, so all she could do was go to the bathroom to take a bath.
Seeing that she was all alone in the room and the door was locked, Celia didn't have a care in the world as she took off her clothes, threw them on the bed, and entered the large bathroom. She could not deny that it was the most beautiful bathroom she had ever come across and one that she had always dreamed of being in.
To think that someone from such a wealthy family like hers had not had the opportunity of experiencing luxury was mind-blowing. All thanks to her greedy uncle who would not let her have what belonged to her.
Celia entered the fancy jacuzzi after mixing all the bath washes and lavender to get a good feel of a lovely bath, then noticing a huge TV on the wall, she looked around for a remote control, saw it, and turned on the TV.
Celia could not deny having the time of her life. No matter how brief it was going to be, she was determined not to fall into a state of helplessness, so as soon as she got comfortable, Celia fell asleep in the jacuzzi.
''Ahem!'' Celia thought she was dreaming when she heard the sound of someone clearing their throat.
Fluttering her eyes open, she started to take in the person who was standing in front of her.
Doctor Schneider!
''Get dressed, breakfast is ready, then we leave. Together!'' Doctor Schneider said those words as he turned to leave.
Celia's mouth was left hanging open.
She thought the door was locked.
Well, was she forgetting that the house belonged to Doctor Schneider?
Celia quickly got out of the tub and started to walk towards the door, hoping that the doctor would give her some privacy to get dressed.
Well, she was lucky because the man left the room for her and went downstairs to wait for Celia with his grandmother.
Celia quickly slid into her new dress which fit so well, she started to wonder how on earth the doctor was able to know her size.
While Celia was stepping down the stairs, Doctor Schneider, who was discussing with his grandmother, caught a glimpse of Celia descending the stairs, and he held his breath for an instant.
The woman was gorgeous.
Doctor Schneider's eyes were fixed on Celia.
''There you go, my beautiful daughter-in-law.'' Mrs. Bagel could not hold back her excitement.
''I would have been present at such a wonderful event, but guess who asked me not to come?'' Mrs. Bagel eyed her grandson as she regretted his decision that there was no need for her to be present since it was just a marriage registration and not a ceremony.
Celia didn't even know what to say.
The last time Celia ate a decent meal was more than twenty-four hours ago, so she was definitely hungry. However, there was no way she was going to let herself lose in front of these uptown strangers, so she barely ate the sumptuous meal that was in front of her.
''Alright, let's head out. It's almost time.'' Doctor Schneider said as he got up from the dining room and held his hand forward to help Celia up.
Celia did not understand what was going on. She did not understand how the man barged into her life and started giving her orders as if he was some sort of boss to her.
Celia had not even had time to think about no longer having an abortion.
Wait. What was she doing?
''I'm sorry, I cannot get married to you. I barely even know you.'' Celia said to Doctor Schneider as soon as they were outside and away from everyone else's hearing.
''Yes, you might not know me, but the baby in your womb belongs to me, so that automatically connects us, woman.'' Doctor Scheider replied firmly without looking into Celia's eyes as he led her into the Bentley that was waiting for them at the front door.
''I'll get the house ready for the party. I have invited all my friends to witness this day. Thank goodness that I am still alive to see it.'' Old Mrs. Bagel was even happier than the bride on the day of her marriage.
