Bagel Family

1002 Words
"Schneider Bagel, are you going to let me have a grandchild after I have left to meet my ancestors?" Old lady Bagel was fond of taunting her grandson, Schneider as she pleased. Schneider was her only grandson, and she loved him dearly but he had refused to get married so old lady Bagel was used to confronting him. "At 28, a successful doctor who also oversees the Bagel family's wealth has to have a wife who would give him an heir. Do you want the Bagel family to crumble after you?" The old lady Bagel came hot at Scheider this time. Schneider had been overstretched at work because he had to take care of patients at his private hospital which happened to be the biggest in the city, as well as frequently and deeply show up at Bagel Group to oversee the company. Schneider Bagel lost his father to a plane crash, and while his mother mourned her husband, Schneider knew that he had no other option than to step up and take control as the future of the Bagel family now lay in his hands. "I have not met a good woman yet, grandma. You remember what happened when we tried to force things and I ended up with Jessica. She humiliated me by sleeping with my so-called best friend. Not again, grandma. Women nowadays are not to be trusted. I cannot go through the same pain twice." Schneider whined like a spoiled dog begging for a treat. "I want my grandchildren, Schneider. Also, I want to rest assured on my sickbed that the Schneider family has an heir after you. Otherwise, what do I tell your father when I get to meet him in the after world? That his lineage and legacy has been halted?" old lady Bagel burst into fake tears as she tried to cajole Schneider to listen to her. Schneider was uncomfortable to see his grandmother in that mood. "It will happen naturally, grandma. Stop making such a fuss." Schneider was green with worry and almost getting upset but he couldn't be that upset at his grandma. "When? There's no more time. can't you see me growing old everyday?" Old lady Bagel was not going to give Schneider any breathing space as she had heard a thousand and one of his excuses from months and even years passed. Schneider had just returned home from the day's activities and was hoping to get some rest but with the way his grandmother was acting, he knew better that there will be no form of rest for him until he is able to convince her that he would get married possibly the following day. Just in time, Schneider's phone rang. "You don't ever miss a chance to be at the spot. What's up with you today?" Raymond Greenwood's boisterous voice sounded over the phone, jerking Schneider alive as he was feeling drowsy enough to pass out on his bed the next minute. "Tired. See you all tomorrow," Schneider replied clumsily. "Tomorrow?" Raymond echoed and looked around him at the other pack of friends that were all waiting on Schneider's arrival. Schneider Bagel was the wealthiest bachelor in the city, as the Bagel family were at the top of the food chain, feared, respected, and loved by all and sundry, so naturally, Schneider was the leader of any group he was in. Schneider could hear the rest of his friends at the background, asking him to show up at the Large Cafe, claiming that they were having a special gathering. An hour later, Schneider was gulping down his fourth shot of tequila, one which he did not know was laced with drugs until the dying minute. Jessica, Schneider's ex-fiancé had planned with one of Schneider's friends to make him weak and high for s*x so that he would get her pregnant and be forced to marry her. Schneider immediately understood the foul play that must have happened after he saw Jessica's alluring figure walking towards him just as he became helpless, sweating on his forehead and burning between his legs. "Guys, I have to hurry home. My grandmother just sent a text message. It must be an emergency." Schneider signalled his assistant who stood around, waiting for his boss' orders. "So soon? Look who just got here, Schneider. Why don't you sit around and have a good time with Jessica. I heard you both have not seen each other in months," said Bran. Bran was the friend of Schneider that had helped Jessica to lace Schneider's drink with ecstasy. Schneider did not wait to talk to Jessica. In fact, he strode out of Large Cafe faster than he had ever done in his life as all he wanted to do was go home to take a shower and ease the burning desire he was feeling between his legs. Schneider's assistant was not born yesterday, so he could tell what was wrong with Schneider even though Schneider had not said anything to him. "Home!" Schneider said only one word to his assistant as he sat at the back of the car, trying to keep himself together. At a point, Schneider was losing it and desperately needed to free himself of the ache he felt. He needed to do something urgently, and thankfully, the day was dark enough for Schneider to suggest what he did to his assistant who happened to be the one driving. "Pull over close to that lady." Schneider could not help it. "What?" His assistant knew what Schneider wanted to do, but he was not sure if his boss was in the right frame of mind so he intended to talk him out of it. Schneider didn't need to say anything else as his eyes alone told his assistant to pull the car over as he had been instructed. As soon as the car was close enough to Celia, who happened to be drunk and trying to walk to her car, Schneider opened the door and pulled her in.
