Staying

1030 Words
BLOOM I resumed work the next morning and only left after the babysitter promise not to let anyone in and wait for me to be back before leaving. After the psycho left yesterday, Tyler didn't ask any questions. Instead, he stared at me as if he knows something I don't. I thought about vacating the house but that would cause more money than budgeted and I am still mad at Leah to ask for her help. "Mr Martins has requested to see you." Chloe said, the instant I entered my office. I glanced at my wristwatch, "it's seven thirty, work starts by eight." She shrugged in response, "but I suggest you get all the materials and a well thought idea ready, He's not in a great mood this morning." "Okay." I rolled up my sleeve, "I could use the distraction and worry later. " By the tune I had thr materials sample and my ideas printed out, it was already twelve. I adjusted my outfit and made way to the meeting room where Chloe told me he's still waiting. Halfway down, I bumped into a wall of muscles suddenly, causing my papers fly around. "Clumsy." The person muttered and proceeded to leave. "Excuse you?" I snapped and turned around to glare at my intruder, "You!!!" I screamed. "You." He repeated, "this is funny." "Are you following me around now?" I snapped at him, "You followed me all the way to my workplace? How much more would you stoop so low?" "Who is following who around?" He squinted his eyes at me, "Are you desperate for more money?" I counted one to ten backwards and glared at him, "Now I you'll excuse me, I have better places to be!" I walked out, or rather attempted to. Strong hands gripped my arms tightly, stopped my tracks and pulled me back, "Don't you dare walk out on me!" I snatched my arms back forcefully, "Watch me!" Before I could take another step, Cole joined us. I hoped he hadn't witness all that happened and report me as a crazy woman to his boss. "Boss." He dipped his head low, "Ahh..... I see you've met her." "You know her?" The devilish stranger asked with a frown. "Yeah, you know him? And why are you calling him boss?" I wanted to add, but kept silent instead. "Boss meet Adora Vesper and Miss Adora, meet Mr Reno Martins. The person you'll be working with." Blood drained from my face as I stared at Cole, "He is my partner?" "More like your boss." The devilish stranger snickered, "I am in charge here." "I refuse to work with you." I snarled through gritted teeth. "I agree. I don't work with redheads. Get me online with her supervisor. " Leah is my co partner, but I didn't bother correcting him. Ten minutes later, after getting off the call with Leah, he sent for me. I entered the meeting room, red with anger and embarrassment. "It pains me to say I have no choice to work with you. Now, it's left to you, are you going to allow your career interfere with your personal life." I glared at him in response, gnashing my teeth. "I asked a question that demands an answer redhead!" "Shove a stick up your anus." He lifted both eyebrows in amusement, "you underestimate me Miss Adora. I thought you've read rumors about me? They are all through. " "I had better things to do than read about a rude person." "You have ten seconds to decide if you'll stay on or off the project." I eyed him. "Ten... nine " I folded my arms and waited till he counted to two, then I squared my shoulder and look at him dead in the eye, "I'm staying, this is my project too and I'm your partner." "Get seated, and let's start with the meeting. I was told you barely paid attention to my assistant yesterday." I avoided Cole's eyes sheepishly, I didn't think he would notice yesterday. My protest died down in my throat as I took a seat four chairs away from Reno. "The first item on the project is a fashion show, and we would be going for an outdoorsy theme." "It's the beginning of winter. That can't work." I pointed out. "The show has to be indoor." He narrowed his eyes, "I'm sure if you were listening Miss Adora, you would have heard me say outdoorsy theme, not doing the show outdoors. Do you need a break from the project?" "No, I'm perfectly fine." "You are dismissed. This meeting will continue by six a.m tomorrow morning. If you can't make it, then kiss yourself goodbye. " I gave him a pointed look, "That's generous of you sirè. " I bowed a little and left the room. I didn't stop till I went back to my office. I let out a shaky breath as I fell into my chair. "You look pale." Chloe noted as she entered, "How did the meeting go? Is there anything you need me to do?" "I'm fine, thank you. I'll let you know if I need anything." "You'll be fine." She nodded and got out. A message entered my phone, it was from Leah. "Please answer my call, you can't ignore me forever!" I deleted the message and packed my things. I needed a break to get myself in the right state of mind, once again, the devilish stranger has toppled my life with the help of Leah. I'm going to work with him, no denying that, but I need to be level headed. I can't control that, he gets the worst out of me. Tyler was reading when I got back to the house, solving mathematical problems higher than his level. I bade the babysitter bye and sat beside my son. He's too young to be engulfed in my problems. He peered up at me, understanding in his eyes. "Which one is it going to be?" "Huh?" I narrowed my eyes in confusion. "Are we staying or leaving?" I ruffled his hair with a smile, "We're staying." I said with resolve, "I'm not going to run away, not again."
