BLOOM
"Mummy." Tyler's small hands grabbed mine as he stared at me with pleading green eyes, "Can I follow you to the office today?"
I squatted to his level and pulled him in my embrace, "I'm sorry Tyler, today is my first day, and I really need to concentrate. "
He regarded me sadly, "I promise, I won't disturb. I don't want to stay alone."
I sighed and ruffled his hair, "I got you a baby sitter, she'll be here soon."
"But mu-"
I kissed his cheeks, cutting him off, "Mama is running late, I promise to be back as early as I can. Breakfast is on the table."
I grabbed my jacket and made for the door.
"Do you think I'll see dad?" Tyler's question stopped me mid step.
This was the first time he was asking about his father. He has always been the strong one, understanding even when I don't need him, too. He is way too smart for his age.
I'd tried and pushed myself to also represent his father figure, so he wouldn't miss out much on not having a father. The only thing he knew was that we came from Boston. An information Leah had forced me to tell so Tyler wouldn't ask questions later.
I spurned on my heels to address my son. No amount of preparation had prepared me for this day. I didn't expect it to come soon.
How do I tell my son that his father doesn't even know he exists and probably wouldn't care if he found out.
I plastered a small smile on my face, "Definitely." I answered, making a mental note to hire a father figure for him.

"Miss Adora!" Someone screamed as soon as I entered the new company, stopping me at the entrance.
I raise an eyebrow as a younger lady scurried towards me, files in her hands.
"Hi, Miss Adora, I'm Chloe, your new personal assistant."
"Okay," I continued walking towards the elevator.
"Mr Martins is around and requested an audience with.
I paused, a sinister smile made its way to my lips, he is the reason I'm back to Boston. "Let him wait." I replied, "I'll see him when I'm ready. "
"Um...." Chloe squirmed, "Mr Martins doesn't like to be waiting. We don't want him to withdraw his investment."
Leah would kill me if that happened, clenching my teeth, I glared at her like she was the cause of my problem. "Fine."
"He'll meet you in the conference room." She chirped.
I squared my shoulders, wore my professional look with a small smile plastered on my face, and double the double doors leading to the conference room.
"Mr Martins." I said briskly, oozing with confidence, I shouldn't let my work interfere with my personal life.
"You must be Miss Adora." The man smiled, standing up and stretched his hand for shake.
I shook it firmly, "Nice to finally make acquaintance with you."
We both studied each other, something flashed in his eyes and disappeared quickly. He looked nothing like the rumors said.
"I'm Cole, something came up so Mr Martins couldn't wait and asked me to represent him instead." The man explained, still shaking my hand.
"Oh." I muttered under my breath, I made time to attend this meeting and he couldn't. He is really like the rumors said, no doubt.
"I'm well versed that you and Mr Martins will be in charge and oversee things in the comp-" I tuned him out, focusing my anger on the man I've never seen who yet managed to topple my life. He didn't even have the balls to face me.
The meeting ended quickly, most of his words unheard and judging by the way he stared me down, he knew.
"It was nice meeting you." Cole smiled, "Also, a word of advice. My boss doesn't like redheads so I suggest you were a wig."
Perfect. Another a$$hole roaming around freely.
"I'll put that into consideration, thank you." I nod curtly and walked out.
After an hour or two in my office, sorting things out. I took my bag and headed home.
The babysitter had texted me a few minutes ago, saying something came up urgently, so she had to leave.
As I pulled up into my driveway, I noticed another sitting there, so out of place.
Panic flooded my veins.
I hurried out of my car and ran the steps to my apartment.
"Tyler." I screamed, different thoughts scrambling around in my brain at once.
Did the person behind that text message kidnap my son?
The front door was opened an inch, my heart plummeted further down.
"Tyler." I screamed, running into the living room.
"Mom?" Tyler faced me, his forehead scrunching with worry, "Are you okay?"
I rushed over and pulled him into my arms, hugging him tightly.
"He's safe." I kept repeating in my head to calm myself.
"Are you done?" A deep sultry voice asked, interrupting my moment.
I jumped to my feet and pushed Tyler behind me protectively.
"Who.. who are you?" I stuttered regardless as I came face to face with the eyes that haunted my dreams for six years.
He scrunched up his nose in disgust as he glared at me, "Can we skip that part Miss Adora?"
I remembered, I had used Adora as my pseudonym seven years ago at the hospital.
Indignant anger replaced my earlier panic. "What are you doing here?" I snapped.
The beautiful stranger from seven years ago, more like a devil. I hated the way he sat too comfortably in my home. This was my personal space, not his!
He smirked, eyes going soft as he stared at Tyler who was now standing in front of me and tugging at my dress.
The resemblance between both of them was uncanny. They even shared the eye colour, piercing green eyes and seem to see through your soul.
The stranger nods to the table where a brown envelope rested.
"That's a DNA test." He revealed, "Confirming Tyler is my son."
The chill that ran through my bones had nothing to do with the cold room.
"Is it true?" Tyler peered up at me, "Is he really my daddy?"
