“What!?” I exclaimed as I grabbed his arm. What he uttered couldn’t be the truth. I just met her a few days ago and she seemed perfectly fine. She was supposed to be discharged and sent home.
“Yes, I got a call from the hospital because my number was registered under her name. They informed me she was dead since yesterday morning,” James explained.
Without even processing anything, I pulled James into my embrace knowing he needed it.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered as tear slipped down from my own eyes. I knew that woman for just a few months; good or bad, without her James wouldn’t be in this world and that’s what really mattered for me.
