When Miles opened the car door to help Kristi out of the vehicle, she was more than a little surprised to see where he'd taken her. After a lengthy drive, they had arrived at the foot of a mountain. "Mr. Bradford? She asked inquisitively, "did you take me here to climb a mountain?"
"Exactly!" Miles exclaimed. "I'd like to get some exercise. Would you like to walk with me and have a look around?"
Kristi was a little embarrassed, but she nodded obediently and followed Miles to the top of the mountain. By the time they reached the peak, it was well past the Witching Hour, and Miles took her to a tree. They sat down and said, "Okay, if you are tired, you can rest. I will wake you in the morning."
Kristi was indeed feeling sleepy. After all, it had taken a great deal of effort to climb the mountain. Although she didn't understand why Miles had brought her here, she trusted his motives. So, after giving his suggestion some thought, Kristi leaned against the tree and allowed herself to fall asleep. Shortly after that, Miles sat down beside her and adjusted her body so that her head could rest on his shoulder.
If anyone had been observing them, they would have said that the couple looked beautiful together.
Eventually, the sun began to rise. Miles woke up first, and he didn't want Kristi to miss the view, so he shook her shoulder and said, "Kristi, wake up, look! The sun is rising!"
Kristi snorted and opened her eyes with great difficulty. A ray of light struck her, and she reached out to protect her eyes. After a while, she lowered her hands. A surprised expression appeared on Kristi's face, and she couldn't help but stand up. She didn't want to miss this round thing of beauty.
"Do you like it?" Miles chuckled.
Kristi nodded happily. She had never seen the sunrise, and it had been a long time since she'd last enjoyed such quiet solitude. A long-lost feeling of happiness hit her heart, and her eyes filled with tears of joy.
Miles stared at Kristi's face, but his thoughts were elsewhere. This woman is a contradiction – he realized – she seems indifferent and guarded, but she is easily satisfied – and these thoughts only served to increase his desire for her.
...
When Miles and Kristi arrived back at the club, she thanked him sincerely again. She was happy, and she felt like nothing could ruin her mood, but the moment she entered the building, Ray grabbed her arm and gave it a hard squeeze. His whole body was cold. There was intense anger burning in his eyes, and his tone of voice was gloomy and hoarse. "Tell me what did you do with him last night!" he growled.
Kristi trembled in horror under his bloodthirsty breath. "Ray," she cried. "Let me go."
"If I let you go, you will go and spend time with other men! So why should I?" Ray had a grim expression on his face, and the force of his grip was so tight that she thought he might break her arm.
Before Kristi could reply, Ray picked her up and carried her into the VIP box. The other guests were surprised, but they were too afraid to intervene.
Once they were in the box, Ray threw her on the sofa. Then he climbed on top of her and spread her legs open with his knees. Kristi struggled to get away, but he was too strong – and within seconds, he had her hands held above her head. He leaned into her face and asked, "Are you still unwilling to sleep with me? If someone throws money at you, you open your legs for them, isn't that right? Are you so thirsty?"
"I am not," Kristi replied. She glared at him with red eyes and continued to struggle in an attempt to escape.
Suddenly, Ray ripped open her shirt and tore off her bra, revealing her small malnourished breasts and her feverish rail-thin body. He was outraged that she had spent the night with Miles, and his fury took control of him. "I should kill you!" he hissed.
Kristi's eyes widened in horror, and her body began to tremble. She begged him, "Ray, don't touch me..." But these few words only served to increase his displeasure.
Ray squeezed her jaw vigorously, and with a gruff tone of voice, he said, "I can't f**k you, but he can?!?!?! Is that it?!?!!? You are a shameless woman!"
Ray wished that he could strangle her on the spot.
"I didn't..." Kristi cried. "I beg you to let me go. I have nothing to do with him!"
Ray was like a furious lion. He felt like Miles had intruded on his territory, and he wanted it back. "I know what happens what a man and a woman spend the night together!" he shouted. "What do you take me for, a fool?"
Ray clasped both of Kristi's hands above her head with one hand, and he felt his way down her body with the other. She felt his hand on her chest, along her ribcage, and on her protruding hips. Her pupils shrank suddenly, and she struggled like crazy. "No," she whined. "Don't do this to me! Ray, you can't... please, don't humiliate me like this!"
Ray froze suddenly, and it seemed as if he was only now realizing what he was about to do. He scowled and said, "You are cheap. I feel dirty, even touching you. Kristina, you make me sick." Ray got of her then and left the box, slamming the door behind him.
As soon as Ray was gone, Kristi did her best to cover her nakedness, but he had destroyed her clothing, and nothing could hide the shame she felt from the sting of his words. She hugged her body tightly and began to cry like she never had before.
It took Kristi a long time to calm down. Finally, she stood up, wrapped a sheet around her body, and stepped out of the box. Some of the Princesses saw her, and they eyed her jealousy, with hearts filled with hatred. One of them shouted at her, saying, "Hey, Kristi, where are you going? What's with the sheet? What are you so ashamed of?"
One of the other Princess said, "She shouldn't be ashamed. Mr. Bradford asked for her by name, and so did Mr. Black. She is lucky!"
Kristi did not feel lucky, though. She felt used and abused and dirty.
