I always knew it might come down to this, having to challenge my father for the position. He was too proud to hand it down to anyone who wasn't his own blood, and after what I did there's no way he was going to hand it to me. Which means he would have stayed the Alpha until he died, or someone else challenged him. Either of those options would have thrown the pack into absolute chaos, but I never imagined it would happen so soon. Hearing him talk about my mother that way, then throwing my mate into it as well, had me and Xavier in an uproar. So I stare my father down as he laughs in my face.
